Thank you for this video, it is extremely informative. Your explanation is excellent and clear, explaining the etymology of these characters is incredibly helpful for a native English speaker like me who finds the Chinese language difficult to grasp a foundation with. Your video has allowed me to establish a strong foundation in my learning to understand Chinese characters, culture, history and the language itself.
Chinese seems to be more logical, interesting and easier now! Good teacher!
The script and its meanings can tell a lot about the way their natives think.

I know it as carpenter's square. What kind of tool is that? What does it do? What is the modern equivalent?
Interestingly, prince in chinese 王子(wáng zǐ) sounds very similar to prince in vietnamese "hoàng tử". Maybe because of history with Chinese influence and royalty in Vietnam. It's odd because sometimes even though I don't understand Chinese, the sounds that I hear still let me know a bit of meaning, it's not super common though.

Hello
Brilliant, thank you. After watching 100s of Chinese programs, this lesson makes sense. I've learnt the tones counting from 1 to 10, and memorising 11 to 99.💪I'm on my way to learning and writing.
U r right 👍🏻👍🏻
Here i am struggling to study to read Chinese character because i want to read Chinese novel. It is so hard to find translated Chinese novel huhu
I was originally of the impression that the language would be rather impossible to learn, and I knew I would need a wise teacher...He gives me hope I can learn, given enough time and effort! I don't even have any tools and I'm ready to work!
you mean you don't have the 'gōng' xD
As a Chinese, however, It's not that hard to learn our language, apart from completely different writing system, you should pay more attention to four different tones. Our grammar is quite easy.
Hi, I’m Henry Guo. I’ve been spending more than 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture and more than 110,000 hours studying Chinese humor and culture. I can supply endless English/Chinese jokes (in English). I’m teaching Chinese language in jokes. I hope it can help people learn Chinese.
I am an Indian but I think that if I'll be a Chinese I'll become very glad. In My lifetime I wish to be fluent in Korean Chinese Japanese and Thai. But now I'm just a little bit Korean including Chinese and Japanese but Thai for sure I'm not really interested in it. Wish that If I have an opportunity to do what I wish I'll definitely not to lose heart. I won't give up. Surely I'm not reveal my feelings but if I am.............I'll become the happiest person. Now I'm 14 yrs old only I'm waiting for my dream. I hope so. Sometimes I've been dreaming like I'm there. 😊😀
YOU'LL DEFINITELY WILL BE DONE AS YOU HAVE THAT FEELING KEEP IT UP
All written characters naturally began as pictographs of some sort, but the Latin alphabet simply lost a lot of its similarities over time just because of the way people ended up using it. It seems that Chinese is different and retained its link to the old symbols, which is pretty cool!
Chinese language has 2 systems, writing and pronunciation. Pronunciation changes over time across regions and forms varies dialects. It is the unified writing system that has been keeping an empire from falling apart before industrial revolution.
In a sense Latin letters are still the writing system. The fall of the Roman Empire ended the speaking, but the Latin letters ended up dominating writing systems in Western Europe. In this case, the writing system was adapted to fit the various languages - adding ligatures to satisfy German and French for example.
Thank you so much for giving everyone a chance to sample your classes for learning one of the Chinese language. I found it to be extremely well organized and simplified, which is very important when learning a complicated language and it’s characters. I look forward to learning more. Thank you once again!
I am Chinese. And I am learning English. Is there anybody who is native English speaker wants to make friends with me? In that case, I think we can help each other.

What is your level in Chinese language
nothing is really easy in chinese, especially speaking with its tones, etc. unless you're a native
@@vmprie i am native but illiterate but i could pronounce well despite not taking formal education
@@mayshusakuhanamurasufferli5438 yeah im mostly illiterate but I can read some stuff
I was first introduced to Chinese characters through my studies of Japanese at a university, I learnt a few dozens of characters with their correct stroke sequence but over the years I forgot many as I left the school and did not really continue my Japanese studies.
About a month ago I decided I wanted to learn Chinese, I started with Paul Noble's amazing audiobooks, which I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who's thinking about learning Chinese, but I had very little visual stimuli. Although there is a booklet coming with the courses, it doesn't really teach you to write Chinese characters. So now I can already speak a little bit and know some of the Mandarin Chinese grammar, but I am basically illiterate. So I was looking for a good way to learn the Chinese characters and I stumbled upon this video.
I love how this lesson is structured and the fact that we are shown the proper stroke sequence. And on top of that we learn the proper words for all kinds of strokes together with the historical origins of the characters!
Thank you very much for this video, Mr. Zheng Tao, it's an amazing source of knowledge! 谢谢

Watched for 3 mins and already like how it start. Horizontal stroke call heng. And then number 1 with the same stroke call yi 🤣🤣
The stroke itself is called héng. When it is used in a sentence, it represents one and is called yī.
Mr J T that's not actually how “heng” is written, it just means horizontal line. The English equivalent is this: 1 is a vertical line, which is pronounced “one”
