Yes Dude, great recommendation! Z&A are a very unique band. The first quote I ever read from the band was “what if American slaves had embraced Satan instead of Jesus” , and since I love a good alternate reality story, I was instantly hooked. Come on Down from their first album is one of my favorites! Stay Metal! 😈😈
Walle walle manche Strecke dass zum Zwecke Götter sterben lmao. They really turned that stupid german song I had to listen at school multiple times in class into a black metal banger
wasnt he on 4chan and asked what genres he should combine for a joke/ fun project and then this crazy good band came out of that weird idea hahaha. I love artists experimenting so mich and fusing stuff together that normally doesn't match, the entire blackgaze genre is kind of opposites mixed into beautiful sound (especially the band violet cold they mixed so much stuff together even hardstyle in a black metal song lol), same with ghostemane doing dark phonk/hip hop and then mixing noise, black metal, industrial, electronic, modern trap, some sad acoustic stuff and other genres into one unique sound that no one else did before on his last album. If you have more suggestions of weird genre mixing artists let me know please.
@@thex6992 Sort of, it was more like he asked what he should combine with Black Metal and someone said as a black man he should stick to black music. But instead of black they used a bunch of slurs.
@@mormacil Wtf. I watched some interview and he made it seem differnetly.. It's horrible that they said those bullshit things to him but now he's the singer of one of the best modern metal bands so he's got the perfect revenge on them
@@thex6992 Manuel said in an interview that somebody actually used the n-word to offend him and instead he was like "I'm gonna make it sound good and piss them off" and he did
All their 3 albums are crazy good. I really need to see them since live at least once since they're not far away from germany at all. The band is also one big fck you to the racist close minded elitist people in black metal I wonder what varg thinks about this band lol.
They are sooo great. In live this song slaps so much stronger, especially a recitative "Doreh, Orire, Rinir, Eriro, etc". if you want, you can check it out (Summer Breeze 2023 fest for example). Please, do more Zeal&Ardor. Götterdämmerung, Feed the Machine, Church Burns, Death to the Holy are beyond all praises.
Ou yes. Another one I adore ^^ I wish I had more time for UA-cam at the moment. Your channel is awesome! Manuel is a great musician and he does music in basically every genre, always striving to do something new and exiting. And so he asked the internet which genres they would like him to combine in a 30minute song writing challenge. This mix came up [Black Metal and nig*** music / Gospel] and it sounded so great he thought: Let's take this a step further. He got a band together and they instantly wrote killer music :) It started mainly by combing slave songs with Black Metal but their latest album took some further influences. It's honestly such a wild ride! I would love to recommend Devil is Fine for the next reaction to go completely 'back to the roots' and then maybe Death to the Holy from their latest album - you won't EVER get that song out of your head [that entire album is one very long ear worm but that song in particular: Love it!].
I liked it...I like " fusions" and this is not only metal...thank you...am sorry my ignorance about metal, sometimes I like sometimes not. But I always listen...have a nice weekend 😊
Their first album was great and innovative! I highly recommend reacting to The Devil is Fine. It really captures the idea, and is a bit unsettling, in a way that makes you think.
One of my absolute favorites, and all their tracks are great and interesting. If you want to hear them get properly heavy with this same aesthetic, try “I Caught You”. The way that song just keeps ratcheting up is insane.
Great band, i love the concept around their album. Black slaves turning away from christianity and embracing satanism as a way of finding freedom. Nicely thought by Manuel Gagneux (if i remember well). I love Death to the holy, Gotterdammerung, Devil is Fine, Gravedigger's chant and Come on down ! (sorry for my bad english ^^)
Definitely check out their song "Death to the Holy"!!! Song powerful AF! And "Church burns"... and others... damn I just found out this band AND IT'S F***ING AWESOME!!!! :D I fell in instantly love witch their music. Heilung will perform this summer in my country and these guys unknown to me are on this same event, so I looked them up and now I'm shitting bricks since :D
Yas i'm so happy you got to know them! They're really good! If you want some more serious stuff from them, i really suggest you the wake of a nation EP. Personally, i found it very powerful, maybe it's a bit of a punch in the belly, but it leaves you with a stark determination to struggle to help get this world rid from injustices.
LIVE Session of Devil is Fine, it's so much more of an experience thatll give your soul a wedgie ❤ and the come back with the "please sir may I please have sum more?"
Z&A (Switzerland/USA) are off the Hook in their live shows. 3 singers and that chanting with the riffage. The band started out of a 4chan (or reddit) discussion. Manuel was looking for inspiration on a new project and asked a question: "What would be the wildest combination of different musical genres." The ideology behind this is that: What if African American's instead of turning in to christianity, had seek solace from Satan, what would those gospels sound like. Excellent songs to check out: Göttedammerung (Rammstein vibes) Death to the Holy Devil is Fine Church Burns Blood in The River Run
A very interesting concept band formed after asking 4chan for suggestions on blending genres. Being 4chan the responses were often questionable, however the response of "Ni**er music and black metal" was taken on the chin as a challenge, so Manuel came up with a back story for the theme. When you are slaves of Christians, why would you turn to their God who is complicit in your slavery ? The new religion comes with it's own bad guy so it would seem "the enemy of your enemy, is your friend", and so naturally they side with the Devil.
Yes the albums are epic and in a class of their own. Manuel is a multitalented artist, so the band and music has a very cohesive vibe and narrative. The music should be considered as audio theatre, which the music videos reinforce well.
The singer's mother is African American and his father is Swiss. The band brings in the old African American spirituals and black metal, which is a cool combination. I've loved Z&A for awhile now.
They kind of remind me of Disturbed. I like the style, and the song was good, but the mix was horrible, probably just being pedantic,I'm known for that. Lol.
I was "aware" of this band, then saw them open for Mastodon & Opeth, and OMG - such a HUGE sound. The place went crazy for them.
I have enjoyed everything Ive heard.

Gotterdammerung, man!
It's awesome!

someone: "no one has ever combined Gospel with black metal"
Manuel: "hold my beer"
The actual suggestion was sadly a little more vulgar.

You should check out "Death to the Holy" and "Church Burns" by them. Those are my favorites and really have that dark gritty, almost southern vibe.
+1 those two are freaking amazing and i hope this band get bigger!!!!

I will be hanging out with them this weekend in Philly
I saw Z&A in chicago and I have never seen such a diverse crowd. It was really beautiful.

Yeah man, I recommended Devil is Fine too, then scrolled down and saw this comment. You have the right idea!

“Built on Ashes” and “Gravedigger’s Chant” are my personal highlights, but this band is fantastic
I just saw them live and they were fantastic. Z&A and Eivør were my favourites of a whole weekend of metal greatness.
I just saw them open for Heilung two days ago. That night will not be topped in any near future, damn.
I love this song. In fact all three albums are amazing and there's a new one coming out in August.
Welcome to the wild ride that is Zeal & Ardor! Amazing band live too!
Their first album was great and innovative! I highly recommend reacting to The Devil is Fine. It really captures the idea, and is a bit unsettling, in a way that makes you think.
"Built on Ashes" and "At the Seams" are also incredible tracks by Z&A!
One of my absolute favorites, and all their tracks are great and interesting. If you want to hear them get properly heavy with this same aesthetic, try “I Caught You”. The way that song just keeps ratcheting up is insane.
Definately the whole album journey! And some songs are recorded live (off the road studios channel).
They’re an interesting band for sure🙂🤘
This was really cool. Those kinda bluesy calm segments and then it gets heavy AF, and that chanting, its weird but good. I like this a lot.
I wish I had the opportunity to experience Z&A for the first time again 😂
Oh, so many bands...I get that statement so deeply.
My favorite band of late. Manuel is a genius. peace!

These are so damn good, saw them live too, sooooooo goooood.
they are excellent live! I saw them in summer 2022.
top tier band
Definitely check out their song "Death to the Holy"!!! Song powerful AF!
And "Church burns"... and others... damn I just found out this band AND IT'S F***ING AWESOME!!!! :D
I fell in instantly love witch their music. Heilung will perform this summer in my country and these guys unknown to me are on this same event, so I looked them up and now I'm shitting bricks since :D
I plan to, cause this was amazing.
Z&A and Heilung at the same event? I could die happy after such a thing
Yas i'm so happy you got to know them! They're really good!

Also great live band and really nice fellas.

This is a great song, my favorite from that album is Don't You Dare .. check it out if you haven't yet!

That was, um, interesting.
They kind of remind me of Disturbed. I like the style, and the song was good, but the mix was horrible, probably just being pedantic,I'm known for that. Lol.
The mix is par for the course for a black metal-ish project on its first album. It gets better in later releases.
@scrptar129 OH ok,that makes since.
I don't dislike this song, it's really good, but I find it confusing. "What was that" sums it up nicely.
