Just turned 17 today sounding like 30 or more ! Angelina is a seasoned veteran and a naturally confident singer who can perform live so effortlessly ! She is focused and knows how to feel each and every word she delivers to her audience ! Her strength as you will discover is her ability to tell a story through her vocals ! I think the first example [shown] is when she hands her ‘wishes’ to the ?conductor guy? in the B&W “I Put a Spell on You” video when she was nine. True prodigy!!
Britt your comments were spot on. Reincarnation is the only way I can explain her. No child should be able to do this. Its way beyond her voice. Her command of the action and stage presence along with how easy she makes it look is normally from a singer or entertainer who has been doing this for many years. It's going to be exciting to see where she goes in her career. I'm retired and the last time I can remember a talent like this at such a young age was growing up in Philly and watching little Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five on the Mike Doughlas show. I'm in my 60s and have had a love for music, all music, all my life, and I've never heard an artist as good as Angelina. Hey Jimmy Richard, I have to tell you something, out of all of the reaction channels and comments that I read ever since reaction channels begun; let tell you that I'm sure there have been well over 1000+ comments & that might be on the low side. Of course I've given my share of comments as well. This is the very first time that I've read a comment such as yours, meaning that that you more than just enjoy music, but if I'm reading you right, you love, understand, and listen to not only the way an artist sings, but also how they sing, listen to the instrumental parts too. I think you actually absorb every aspect of the entire song and sound. I guess what I'm saying is I thought I was the only human that loves music so much, I appreciate what music has always brought to my life. That was the day I discovered what music really meant! Since then, I've always had music around my life. Except for her first appearance on Norway’s Got Talent, when she looked a little uncomforable (probably performing in public for the first time) and then her first studio appearance of ‘I Who Have Nothing’, it seems as if this young woman (then 7 years old) fears no attention. In fact, during her first line in the Ben E King classic you can almost hear the hesitation. Then, when her voice starts to ring out at the end of the second line, viewers just KNOW she’s got it, she has conquered the world. In fact, shortly thereafter, she actually jumps for joy, knowing that SHE’S GOT IT!!! Put that song on you list for an early reaction.
Great performance and Reaction... She has a equally good outdoor live version also at age 10 with a slower tempo and completely different accompaniment. And the finally might even edge this one out in terms of Wow factor.

When she ascends up the scale in the coda, she's actually directing the band with her left hand, so that the musicians understand her ad lib tempo exactly, and can anticipate her as she moves up the scale. All this in a live, broadcast performance. I just can't articulate how unreal that is for a 10-year-old. AJ's situational awareness is beyond comprehension.

At nine she took charge an was affectionately given the title The Boss. There are videos for all of this showing her critiquing full orchestras. She has always chosen her music and from age eight arranging to her liking. By ten she is professional in all aspects including production. Far more than a singer. Prodigy does not describe. I think a lot of established adult artists would walk off stage, feeling very pleased about themselves after a performance like this. It actually seems a bit unfair that 10 year old can do this and make it look so easy.
This is one of my favorite performances by Angelina. Throughout the song she is a completely focused professional, talented beyond her years. You talked about performing with a live band, but there was a live studio audience for a live TV show as well. Not even a whiff of nervousness from Angelina. Did you notice how she handled that closeup flyby with the camera? She looked directly into the camera and never lost a beat. But at the end, as the audience applauds, you get to see the little girl again. The smile and giggle, the curtsy, just a little girl who is happy and pleased.

AJ on home turf! One of, if not the best, jazz singers of all time even at this age (yes, I am biased but not without merit). Have heard a lot of versions of this song by some of the jazz greats and none does it better. She has performed this several times on camera and it evolves or just changes to fit the band and mood, but it is always HER version. Always superb. thanks for sharing

AJ has said in interviews that she feels more comfortable singing than talking she said Singing is like breathing to her and she does not get nervous at all infront of 40,000 people or millions on live stream or sitting on her couch in front of her cellphone recording a new cover. She loves to perform, and had been since 7,, Her first studio recording was age 6,, and the first time with mic in her hand singing with her dolls was 18months

You also understand Angelina's musical roots, who she grew up with listening to and learning from since she was 3 years old, thanks to her grandma Mery Zamani and UA-cam. She's largely self-taught. You got it right-Angelina Jordan is truly a phenomenon, the likes of which no one has ever seen before. Angelina was singing with bands at 8 years old and has always been so comfortable doing it. She just instinctively knows how and it just seems to me that her acute awareness is partly god sent and a lot of listening and practicing her craft. Her stage presence is unbelievable. Angelina, when asked is she was nervous before a performance, said something to the effect of "not really, I enter my own world of musical world where everything is right". The most amazing thing is watching the end of some of her earlier performances, where you can actually see her returning from her "Music World". At the end of this video we can see her exiting her world of music when she quietly transforms from a vocal prodigy into an unassuming little 10-year old that gives a shy little curtsy when confronted with all the applause - and then glances at her friends in the professional band that supported this performance.

Her command of the action and stage presence along with how easy she makes it look is normally from a singer or entertainer who has been doing this for many years. It's going to be exciting to see where she goes in her career. I'm retired and the last time I can remember a talent like this at such a young age was growing up in Philly and watching little Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five on the Mike Doughlas show. I'm in my 60s and have had a love for music, all music, all my life, and I've never heard an artist as good as Angelina. Hey Jimmy Richard, I have to tell you something, out of all of the reaction channels and comments that I read ever since reaction channels begun; let tell you that I'm sure there have been well over 1000+ comments & that might be on the low side. Of course I've given my share of comments as well. This is the very first time that I've read a comment such as yours, meaning that that you more than just enjoy music, but if I'm reading you right, you love, understand, and listen to not only the way an artist sings, but also how they sing, listen to the instrumental parts too. I think you actually absorb every aspect of the entire song and sound. I guess what I'm saying is I thought I was the only human that loves music so much, I appreciate what music has always brought to my life. When I was younger I'd hear music my mom and dad listened too, but being so young I just didn't grasp the concept of what it actually meant. I was 8 yrs old, and I had this little portable 45 record player, and my mom bought me lots of records. One particular day while in my room I was listening to this song, I was sitting on my bed and after the song ended, I found myself crying and very emotional. That was the day I discovered what music really meant! Since then, I've always had music around my life. I've tried so many times with so many friends and they just don't get it.🤔 I've also tried several different times to explain what music really is, and how it makes me feel while commenting on a particular song. Another nice reaction, Britt. BTW, you’re hitting on something I personally think is the most amazing thing about Angelina. Except for her first appearance on Norway’s Got Talent, when she looked a little uncomforable (probably performing in public for the first time) and then her first studio appearance of ‘I Who Have Nothing’, it seems as if this young woman (then 7 years old) fears no attention. In fact, during her first line in the Ben E King classic you can almost hear the hesitation. Then, when her voice starts to ring out at the end of the second line, viewers just KNOW she’s got it, she has conquered the world. In fact, shortly thereafter, she actually jumps for joy, knowing that SHE’S GOT IT!!! Put that song on you list for an early reaction.
Great performance and Reaction... She has a equally good outdoor live version also at age 10 with a slower tempo and completely different accompaniment. And the finally might even edge this one out in terms of Wow factor.

When she ascends up the scale in the coda, she's actually directing the band with her left hand, so that the musicians understand her ad lib tempo exactly, and can anticipate her as she moves up the scale. All this in a live, broadcast performance. I just can't articulate how unreal that is for a 10-year-old. AJ's situational awareness is beyond comprehension.

It is recorded that at seven she was directing musicians by asking questions with the intent of getting them to do it her way. By eight she way demonstrating how she wanted it done. At nine she took charge an was affectionately given the title The Boss. There are videos for all of this showing her critiquing full orchestras. She has always chosen her music and from age eight arranging to her liking. By ten she is professional in all aspects including production. Far more than a singer. Prodigy does not describe. Genius falls short. How becomes the common thought. Maybe a clue is within her full name. Angelina Jordan Astar.

I think a lot of established adult artists would walk off stage, feeling very pleased about themselves after a performance like this. It actually seems a bit unfair that 10 year old can do this and make it look so easy.
This is one of my favorite performances by Angelina. Throughout the song she is a completely focused professional, talented beyond her years. You talked about performing with a live band, but there was a live studio audience for a live TV show as well. Not even a whiff of nervousness from Angelina. Did you notice how she handled that closeup flyby with the camera? She looked directly into the camera and never lost a beat. But at the end, as the audience applauds, you get to see the little girl again. The smile and giggle, the curtsy, just a little girl who is happy and pleased.

AJ on home turf! One of, if not the best, jazz singers of all time even at this age (yes, I am biased but not without merit). Have heard a lot of versions of this song by some of the jazz greats and none does it better. She has performed this several times on camera and it evolves or just changes to fit the band and mood, but it is always HER version. Always superb.

There’s an old saying when a musical great passes away that “Heavens band just got better”. It’s my contention that Angelina’s soul hung out in the rehearsal hall learning from all those greats.

By the way, in your description of her as a child -- yes, indeed, she was. However, her reason for going barefooted in all of her performances that she's done since age 7 is anything but childish. If you haven't read comments or the story behind her reason for it yet, please do so. It is heart-melting and shows why we fans believe she is one of the most empathetic people on the planet! This is such an incredibly beautiful performance and so much to love in it from the very start. The big blast at the end is an obvious highlight, but all along the way many beautiful things happen. Every single thing she touched at age 10 is totally brilliant .. her voice settling right in. But this .. oh .. I must have seen it at least 50 times .. love love love it. That little smile at the end of the song shows the joy for her special ending for the song and perhaps even that she could see or feel that some people might be thinking she wouldn't make it .. but she made it indeed .. and full of joy.

AJ has said in interviews that she feels more comfortable singing than talking she said Singing is like breathing to her and she does not get nervous at all infront of 40,000 people or millions on live stream or sitting on her couch in front of her cellphone recording a new cover. She loves to perform, and had been since 7,, Her first studio recording was age 6,, and the first time with mic in her hand singing with her dolls was 18months

I'm absolutely loving your reactions and commentaries Britt. Yes, for any singer to sing with a band is difficult. Angelina was singing with bands at 8 years old and has always been so comfortable doing it. She just instinctively knows how and it just seems to me that her acute awareness is partly god sent and a lot of listening and practicing her craft. Her stage presence is unbelievable. Angelina, when asked is she was nervous before a performance, said something to the effect of "not really, I enter my own world of musical world where everything is right". The most amazing thing is watching the end of some of her earlier performances, where you can actually see her returning from her "Music World". At the end of this video we can see her exiting her world of music when she quietly transforms from a vocal prodigy into an unassuming little 10-year old that gives a shy little curtsy when confronted with all the applause - and then glances at her friends in the professional band that supported this performance.
