Hard to get into a guy with a pastiche style that wanders from influence to influence hoping something sticks. I’ve tried and and succeeded in concluding he is not well known or played for good reason. When he goes into his baroque-style passages you want to bring a candelabra down on his skull.
Yikes! I happen to find his music speaks to my soul in ways only perhaps late Beethoven and Schumann do. Different strokes for different folks I suppose!
Tozer’s touch is absolutely magical and most sensitive.
2:31 - 2:41 - Those harmonies... wow!
The harmonies and melody from 2:28 to the end is absolutely magical
An outstanding gem. And in A dorian, which is so nice:)
I dare say Medtner was a genius.
I dare say he was the greatest one
at the beginning of the musical manuscript it is written in Russian that the composer dedicates his work to: Cinderella & Ivanushka a Fool
Your uploads are phenomenal!
I. KEEP. FINDING. MORE. MEDTNER. CAN'T. ENJOY. ONE. PIECE. THERE. ARE. TOO. MANY.
