Congratulations on the L8. The brush hog deck on the tractor should handle your brush with no problem. The other deck is a finish mower deck with a perforated mulching plate on the back. The plate holding the blades crossed won't hold up cutting saplings. You can get a sulky, hitch ball, and split hitch if you will be mowing large areas. Other manuals are at www.gtcoa.com for free download. There is a very helpful Gravely forum at www.mytractorforum.com.
Panon1 It seems like a great machine. Wish we had a hood for it though. Thanks for the information. I don't know a lot about this machine so any information is very helpful. I appreciate it.
Used hoods are available at swap meets, ebay, CL, etc. A Super Convertible hood is the one. However, it mounts in a lip in front of the battery plate that does not appear on your custom plate.
Make sure that thing is in neutral when engaging the blade. All the levers. Transmissions will wear out quicker. Exhaust valve used to stick a lot on mine. Adding lead and xmsn fluid to gas helps. Had to remove the little side cover and pop the valve loose with a pry bar if it sat too long.
My dad had one of these years ago. It had the sulky to make it a rider. He had a tiller attachment for it. The tiller didn't have tines like a normal tiller, but a shaft facing downwards at about a 45 deg. angle. It had four paddle like blades that would till the soil. It's hard to explain but it worked. It didn't have electric start . It had a pull start that was a flat belt with a grommet on the end. You put the grommet over a pen on the flywheel, did a few wraps, then pulled like hell. That machine was a beast.
The second deck that you have is equipped with the leaf mulcher rear fender (with holes drilled in it). That's why it came with the dual blade setup. Turns the leaves to dust. You don't even have to bag them anymore.
Thank you. It's a neat old machine and built like a tank. Hope the motor lasts us a long time. It's usually what goes bad on the older equipment. Everything else is usually fine except the tires. Lol.
Would you like to buy another one to rebuild or use for parts . Contact me if interested. No joke I'm not a scammer. You can find me on Facebook. Located in Pennsylvania. Thank You.

There's a guy in Massachusetts if you want the number let me know
She’s a beast and will serve you well once you get used to it you won’t be without it but respect her because she will hurt you if not careful 👍
neat. when are you posting the video of this machine in action?
TheDisorderly1 Thanks. Hopefully this week.
Gravelys are awesome and last forever
PeaceSouljer They sure do. Although I do think the decks are a little on the thin side.
and has an floting plade
What did you pay for the beast ??? Nice work fella too.
I will say get a 106 drive brush hog with a 1/2 inch brush blade and nd you can cut up to 5 inch trees
yoy have an 8-speed gearbox on it
Now U need the sulky to ride behind it .
Boy with lotta toys Couldn't agree more.
If the points ever play up, put a nova 2 universal ignition module on, cost about $10, great old machine
EvoJigger $10 is not bad at all. Never heard of a Nova universal ignition module before. Will have to look it up. Thanks.
Don't start it wearing sandals lol
