Stay the course... Pain BEFORE pleasure...as my Marine DI said. (God rest his soul.) I am 54 years old...far beyond the scope of re enlistment. I planned to get through college and get back to the Marine Corps as an officer. You are doing a great job of telling the population the ins and outs of the process. Thank you for taking the torch that I and others who served with me passed. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and Semper Fidelis!
I went in 1998, 10 weeks PLC combined. Couldn't hack it and got sent home after week 5. But I enlisted in the reserves and served a tour in Iraq 2003. Yes, OCS experience is something you will remember forever.
Not sure why this vid popped up but you’re interesting to listen to. I also learned I am not cut out for the military life and would fail miserably. Thank you to everyone who’s braver and stronger than me for signing up for this life. You’re all heroes. I mean that.
Good stuff man, “thought it would be fun”😂😂 I attended PLC Jr 1st increment 2020 India 2nd. First day was an eye opener with the Sargent instructors, but just gotta take it day by day. Can’t even tell you how many games the instructors played and circles we ran. Keep it up.
I was I3 1st increment. I got held up after SULE 1 and had to stick with y’all’s platoon on the way back and y’all’s SI’s seemed way more chill than ours lol
Everything you say is wrong... I have videos and everything from the course and everything. My brother is a lieutenant colonel in the Marine corps.. My younger brother is also a captain
@@Tara-ub2zl I’m sorry you feel that way. The course I went to did not allow for any electronic devices so we could not video our time there. We also went through during a pandemic in 2020 instead of 2000. What is it that you believe is wrong?
I watched your first video and you said you got a flight contract. Can you make a video on how you got that and the steps you need to take. You don’t know how much of a help these videos are. Im still a senior in highschool planning on doing PLC juniors when I transfer from my community college.
Yeah absolutely I will definitely be making a video about that. I will most likely break it off and make a specific playlist for all the aviation related stuff and that would be a great video to start with. I’m glad these videos are helping!
I went after my freshman year this past summer. To physically prepare I did a lot of running and body weight workouts. If you can pass the PFT to get selected then you will be fine. Honestly the physical aspect was the easiest part.
You get a haircut every week. It’s pretty much a fucked up high and tight lol You have to pay cash for it. When I was there over a year ago it was $10.50 per cut.
Was your time manageable? Like when you said you ran 23’s or 22’s for run time for juniors. Just wondering cause I’m heading to juniors and I’m in the low 22’s for run and I’m guessing that’s kinda back of pack right
It either cuts into your sleep time, or you can be a shitbag during study times/white space If you really want to than do it, but you get your phone during liberty periods where you can call your family/whoever.
@@coltenwilkerson3306 Do you know what they do with those who pass but still need to get their Bachelors? I'm guessing for already enlisted guys they just stay their rank and and wait until they can get their degrees but I'm wondering what it's like for the others straight from college
What was your path going into OCS cause I know there’s a couple different ways. I’m most likely going through NROTC and then going through OCS but my other path is from the reserves. I’m a poolie rn and applied for the scholarship but I’m enlisted for reserves so I can go through college then PLC and stuff like that. I want to end up in active duty after college so I’m just wondering how you did it.
I made another video kind of explains the path I’m taking if you want to go watch that one as well, but basically I’m just doing PLC. I graduated highschool and started filling out my PLC packet right after. I wasn’t a poolee or anything like that, never had any intentions on joining reserves except for if I got denied on my first board I would have gone reserves to be more competitive for the next board. Thankfully I did not need to do that. I just picked a college and a major, completed my packet for PLC and did everything in between. Hope this answers your question.
@@dusitthehto1946 yeah so if you want to become an officer you will apply for a ground slot and try to get selected. After TBS you will then select and MOS but you are competing against everyone else. You get to pick your MOS based on how well you did in TBS
In my opinion this video should be taken down it’s understandable that people who plan on going to ocs want to have as much knowledge as possible of what it’s like but this video he’s pretty much exposing and telling everything that’s happened to him in ocs
The mission of OCS is to screen and evaluate candidates to see if they have leadership potential. I’m not giving any info that would prevent that. Take it from anybody who has been, there is no such thing as preparing for OCS if you’ve never had military experience before. It doesn’t matter how much you think you know going in, you will be caught off guard. The stress will still be there, the chaos will still be there, and you still will not know what to do.
This candidate just got pre-selected for OCC-238 coming up in the fall. Words cannot describe my relief and gratitude. Thank you for this video!
Same too brother.
Same, I’ll see y’all there!

Appreciate the video, thanks for sharing the experience

Great info. Thank you! I plan on applying this upcoming summer. Hope all is well in your journey towards officership thus far.

During INDOC when was the height/weight taken and did anyone fail that and then fail the tape too? If so what happened to them? Great video. Thanks
Ay man give us an update!! How're you doing?

Great video. Waiting to get selected for PLC combined for this summer
I've been through it. My brother did it OCS right before 9/11

Did you get selected
Is it true that you can reject your commission if you change your mind? And what did you commission as?
when did you go to PLC juniors? Was it after your freshman year of college? How did you physically prepare for OCS?

How do haircuts work in ocs?
They give you haircuts at OCS, usually they only leave little to no hair

Low 22’s is fine. You’ll be towards the middle/back but you shouldn’t have a problem passing the pt events.
Did you guys get a family day for the first block of PLC?
I think we were supposed to, but ended up not getting one because of COVID. We also did not get liberty because of COVID.
do you know any mustangs you could put me into contact with?
I could ask a couple if they would be willing to talk to you. Send me your email.

whats the hardest part of ocs
Hey man, I have a few questions I'd like to ask. What is a good email to reach you at?
What does the USMC do when your a new 2nd Lt but have yet to graduate from college ?
You have to graduate with at least a bachelors degree before you can commission as a 2LT

OCS is absolutely miserable, it's even worse if you go in the winter. You do all of the water obstacles even in the winter.
Did you get your job you wanted
Is fortunate son on the reading list
So there’s two phases of OCS?
It depends on of you go through the PLC program or the OCC program. You can watch my other video for more information on that if you want.
