"They didn't want him in the movie!" That's messed up, man. I guess the Hughes Brothers had something against 2Pac or his lack of conformity so maybe that's why they assigned him the role of Sharif rather than just deciding not to cast him or call him in for readings. Since he had such a close bond with Jada from their performing arts school days it would have been cool if the Hughes Brothers had been more open minded and been willing to cast Pac as Caine since that character was romantically involved with Jada's Ronnie character in the film. I think their onscreen chemistry would have been something else!
All of you who think MC Eiht is disrespecting Tupac here need to realize that several people who worked with and are close with Pac have said similar things about Tupac being somewhat phony and someone who can flip out very easily. Tyrin Turner (Caine in Menace II Society), Jermaine Hopkins and Omar Epps(who starred in Juice with Pac) have all given first hand accounts of Pac causing problems on movie sets because he would be angry or too playful during the readings and filming. MC Eiht mentions here that the Hughes Brothers directed 3 of Pac's videos and did not want to work with him in a movie because of his behavior. Shock G from Digital Underground has also said in interviews that Pac changed when he watched himself playing Bishop in the screening for Juice. Shock G thought Pac wanted to be like the character Bishop in real life. Remember MC Eiht said in another Vlad interview that "Pac Went Backwards By Affiliating Himself With Gangs." Wanting to be like Bishop probably played a big part on why he wanted to be a gangsta. It's unfortunate because Afeni and Mutulu Shakur instilled righteous/uplifting the black community values in Pac when he was growing up, but Pac allowed the entertainment industry's money and fame to get him off that righteous path, and it eventually led to him being gunned down and killed in 1996!!
I feel it. But he was only 21-22 or whatever at that time, he was still trying to find himself. The way Tupac was, he wouldn't let nobody run over him and if he didn't like something he spoke up and said something! That's from being raised in a Black panther house hold. That Attitude turned into ThugLife.
+Me Mr. Who? GREAT point!! I'll admit to being overly critical of Tupac because he spoke out of both sides of his mouth and to me, that came across as hypocritical/2-faced. I also thought he had too much intelligence to act the way he did sometimes. I need to remind myself that he was only in his early 20's when he first became famous, and died at 25. None of us are/were a finished product in our early to mid 20's
Tupac was fake! The only people that worship him are people who were fooled by the image. Everybody who spent enough time with tupac, distance themselves from him.
+Kash Is Green the backstory would have made it better cause shariff goal was to turn this from their ultimate fate. death in the streets and prison. its levels to this shit cuzz but we can agreee to disagree

+Otis Willingham oh man 😖😖 imagine how fuckin epic it would be if that shit happened. Grant it, Boyz in da hood was GREAT, but with NWA in it.... Woah. Greatest movie ever
I honestly could see where Pac was coming. He would've easily been one of the more recognisable faces in that movie at that point in time. Add that a minute or two of backstory could've easily been done and would've gave some more depth to that character. Plus Pac from his own mouth said he thought, from his POV, that the role was hypocritical and wasn't a true representation of either side.
Fascinating how he gave a never before heard perspective on what happened with the movie. I can remember back in the day everybody thought Pac was supposed to play O-Dog. Pac was talented enough to play any roll, but I just can't picture him as Shareef.
Lies. Pac said it himself in an interview the Hughes brothers WANTED him to be a Muslim Gangbanger - but quote "Aint No Gangbanger that is a Muslim" you take this L
Why you think Pac was some unbiased God who always tells the truth. Eiht knows more about the situation than you ever will. Take everyones word with a grain of salt.
The reason why Tupac rejected to play his role in Menace II Society because the directors were forcing him to play the role of a "Muslim Gangster". Even though Tupac was not Muslim he felt uncomfortable to take on the role because he believed the role was "Unrealistic" and would be "Offensive" to others. Due to his high respect for other's belief Pac put his career on the line and rejected the $ 100,000 movie role.
Why do people call Pac "fake"? Lol this is why I know people are too simple minded. Pac wasnt fake, he jumped into a life that wasnt exactly what he raised to be apart of, but when he said he was "Thuglife" he embodied that. Pac wanted to relate to the crowd he wanted to reach. He attempted to turn his message from Black Panther, to a more Thugged out point of view. That aint fake. Thats some TRUE ASS shit. In the process, he made enemies due to this. Enemies he wouldve never made had he stayed on the "black power lets all unite" tip, but he knew that route wouldnt have touched everybody he wanted to. Mfs overlook that. Pac wasnt fake, he just chose to be true to the bone.
Couldn't have said it better myself. All these niggas that claiming he's fake are bunch of pathetic misinformed nerds. Only the real ones and those who were close to him know how strong of a dude tupac was.
There you go! Pac was no fake. I don’t let it bother me as a fan, because regardless he lived his music, while most just record it for the hell of it. He loved his people, and he had a passion for all he wrote, and put out. I’ll always respect, and admire him. People can talk all the hot shit they want, there will NEVER be another on his level of talent, or intellect. Period.
The backdrop of this story is that the movie would've never been greenlighted had Tupac not been associated with the movie. The Hughes brother is on record saying the producers wanted Tupac in the movie and Tupac gave them permission to use his name to secure the funds for that movie. Tupac had more power over what role he could play and actually out of respect for his relationship with John Singleton requested to have a minor role in the movie. He has an interview talking about this and how he viewed his partnership with Singleton as akin to Scorcese and De Niro and did not want to have a major role with another director. I think upon getting his small role he felt reservations about not only the small role but the subservient image it portrayed and constantly complained and wanted tweaks to be made to the character. One of the Hughes brothers said they kept firm about not changing that character and that's when Tupac showed his frustration by showing up late and refusing to wear make up and being quiet during their rehearsals.
That's in addition to the fact that 2Pac felt the Sharif role wasn't an accurate portrayal of a young black male in a crew like that. If the Hughes brothers had tried to mediate orsimply not lead with their ego it likely would have went down different.
Tupac was a passionate artist, sadly Hollywood and those who want to play that game will never understand artists like him, Marlon Brando and the other rebels in the art world
Yeah, except Marlon Brando out lived him .. he was a victim of HIS choices, period. He didnt even wear a VEST and EVERYBODY was Bad Boy as well as Death Row did at that time.
Tupac was playing a character his whole career, if you people dont remember he was wearing a tutu and his younger years and was dancing with Digital Underground in the beginning of his career. That doesnt mean his music was garbage, but he got caught up in a image and ultimately payed the price for it.
Try getting robbed and shot and backstabbed and let's see if it doesn't change you. Y'all silly mf keep saying that but guess what? How many guys you know shot at the undercovers? @@ronnie6696he wasnt lying its common knowledge sharif hung around gangsters and drug dealers but was so called a holy muslim pac felt he was out of place and a vague character the needed more depth
That's like saying there's no such thing as a Christian gangster, a Jewish gangster, a Buddhist gangster, an atheist gangster, a heterosexual gangster, a gay gangster. Just because you don't want to associate with such people, doesn't mean they don't belong to the same ethnic/social/religious group as you. So yes, if a person believes in the teachings of the quran and the pedophile prophet, they're a Muslim, like it or not.
Tupac makes a great point about his character because I always said why is this righteous dude hanging with these low life gang banger drug dealers. Man I always said that. He is so out of place. They in there smoking weed, getting women and he coming with the holy Qur'an. Remember he said that at the last party and O'dog said she don't want to hear all that. she don't.This shows Tupac's intelligence when it came to approaching movies.
2Pac did that song "Do 4 Love" with the lyric about a girl trying to trap him by saying she's pregnant and he's the daddy which further sounds like he would have put so much energy into being Caine if he had been cast for that role instead of Sharif. He would have just gone off on the phone conversation with Erin Wiley and put so much raw anger and defiance into his lines.
Why niggas act like they exposing Pac for something he was open about? he didn't try to hide it like Prodigy. That nigga mentioned it countless times and still shot 2 cops, where's the fake?
I love tupac, but if you really research, you'll find out that he was portraying a gangster image while not really being a gangster. That is what almost all of the "Real thugs" will say about tupac. Not that he wasn't a amazing person, a amazing rapper, a futuristic thinker ect ect. He was just not the gangster that he wanted everyone to believe he was, I personally don't care that much, I think his messages were spot on. And I think anyone with the ability to truly influence people should be praised, but it definitely does seem (from the words of all the thugs that hung with him back in the day) that he wasn't really a "thug". Just the hard truth. It doesn't make me like pac any less, but it's just interesting.

Why sometimes vlad's interviews come off as interrogations tho.
+JeepArmy USA thought i was the only one that thought that lmao
it's a "white" thing
+JeepArmy USA in what type of interrogation do they ask u how u feel about slim jesus?
"So you entered the liquor store at 10 o'clock?"
+B Garcia the best type
Ice Cube's Artist; Female Rapper "Yo-Yo" was also in the film too Vlad!
None of us are/were a finished product in our early to mid 20's
seeehorn Exactly but I never thought that pac was hypocritical/2faced, Sometimes he did contradict himself tho.
Tupac was fake! The only people that worship him are people who were fooled by the image. Everybody who spent enough time with tupac, distance themselves from him.
Manolo Cepeda ?? So how was he a fake, All the outlawz remained loyal soo tf you talking bout.
2pac made sense. you supposed to give backstories to significant characters
Right!!
but who gave a fuck bout shareef tho. movie was about Caine
+Kash Is Green the backstory would have made it better cause shariff goal was to turn this from their ultimate fate. death in the streets and prison. its levels to this shit cuzz but we can agreee to disagree
+Jacc Trippa *turn them from their ultimate fate
The movie was fine da way it was. We didn't need history on shareef.
YoYo was also in Menace II Society
true..and a rapper called, safir was in it too.
POOPGOSPLAT That was YOYO.. you idiot! www.imdb.com/title/tt0107554/fullcredits/
+POOPGOSPLAT It was her. She was also in Boyz in the Hood for a brief moment as well. When everybody is at the BBQ.
POOPGOSPLAT T.V guide wrong too? www.tvguide.com/movies/menace-ii-society/cast/129569/ Just take your L and bow out gracefully.
yea ik he forget her
I could just imagine 2Pac yelling at them dudes on the elevator yelling "This Thug Life!" Lmao
I coulda played an ex street thug turned muslim, but i aint i thought that was gangsta.
idk why but i read this is birdmans voice lol
pac said there is no such thing as Muslim gangbanger.
I got these cheeseburgers man
+djvIad *Remember when you had all those 2Pac acapellas you got from Makaveli Branded and you stupidly left them on your Limewire account and someone downloaded them? That guy sold them for mad money.*

Wow! so MC Ren was originally supposed to play his part.
And n.w.a was supposed to be in boyz n da hood
+Otis Willingham oh man 😖😖 imagine how fuckin epic it would be if that shit happened. Grant it, Boyz in da hood was GREAT, but with NWA in it.... Woah. Greatest movie ever
Word
Shaief Sadal Well! He was in the first one. I guess he didn't want to be in movie.
+Cameo Coney Ren would probably have a bigger carreer if he had played A Wax
I honestly could see where Pac was coming. He would've easily been one of the more recognisable faces in that movie at that point in time. Add that a minute or two of backstory could've easily been done and would've gave some more depth to that character. Plus Pac from his own mouth said he thought, from his POV, that the role was hypocritical and wasn't a true representation of either side.
Pac was the reason the Hughes brothers got the deal so the should've allowed him some input
Straight 💯
Wow
+MrWARBUCKS24 word
+MrWARBUCKS24 PAC Beat down hughe brothers in Oakland
2pac & MC Eiht Always 🔥
That Mopreme interview was awesome man I keep going back to it

Lmaooo yo that was funny
lmao day made💀😂
+Thulsa Doom this is the best day of my life hahaha
Saafir was another rapper in the movie...He played Cane's cousin who had got shot in the carjacking. Check out dude music, he a really good rapper
Very unorthodox style. Dude is nice
Fascinating how he gave a never before heard perspective on what happened with the movie. I can remember back in the day everybody thought Pac was supposed to play O-Dog. Pac was talented enough to play any roll, but I just can't picture him as Shareef.
mahman mc eight sounding like he's on a permanent huge blunt hit holding phase 😂👌🏼
😂😂
Pac woulda made menace even more of a classic , guaranteed 💯
Deadass

Lies. Pac said it himself in an interview the Hughes brothers WANTED him to be a Muslim Gangbanger - but quote "Aint No Gangbanger that is a Muslim"
you take this L
+TayisEpic
lol exactly. But Pac is dead so a lot of guys are gonna say shit that are not true, this is known as revisionist history.
Why you think Pac was some unbiased God who always tells the truth. Eiht knows more about the situation than you ever will. Take everyones word with a grain of salt.
Shareef wasn't a gang banger tho he Was a gang banga turned Muslim
True lol. Pac didnt want to profile muslims as gangsters. (his conscious side i guess)
+YouBuckingFitch yea im sure he didn't wanna play "the voice of reason" in a gangter hood movie tho
Wasn't safir in menace
Cousin Harold
+dslimm yup
Damn, he forgot about Saafir...shiiit!
+dslimm They mentioned Saafir on 3:45
Wanted to see if any of these yougins caught the Safir mention. #bayboy
*Lance "Ryder" Wilson* - from Grove Street Families ! GSF-4-Live ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love how everybody love PAC...when speaking of PAC, aint no shade...nothing but love...DAMN.....NOW THATS LOVE... WE LOVE PAC
"Aye show me how they drive on the east coast homie"
BOOM!
Couldn't have said it better myself. All these niggas that claiming he's fake are bunch of pathetic misinformed nerds. Only the real ones and those who were close to him know how strong of a dude tupac was.
Truly Makel 💯
There you go! Pac was no fake. I don’t let it bother me as a fan, because regardless he lived his music, while most just record it for the hell of it. He loved his people, and he had a passion for all he wrote, and put out. I’ll always respect, and admire him. People can talk all the hot shit they want, there will NEVER be another on his level of talent, or intellect. Period.
Truly Makel most of these people commenting weren't even following Pac when he was alive
I live for these types of stories!!!... Rest in Peace TuPac!!!!.. THE REALIST NIGGA TO EVER DO IT.
He looks younger now than what he did in Menace 2 Society!
God bless the memory of Tupac Shakur.
Man, his voice is so different now. Remember when he did Ryder in San Andreas. Bad ass voice
If the Hughes brothers had tried to mediate orsimply not lead with their ego it likely would have went down different.
love this man interviews
Wow, very informative. Great interview
Salute to MC Eiht...but please just give this man a glass of water so he can continue this interview properly.
They forgot Yo-Yo she was in it too
This Video Came Out The VERY SAME DAY I Got Out Of The Navy. 🙌🏾
So what are you doing now ??
Todd .Chamberlain II Working Security Lol. TSA Will Be Callin Me Back Soon..
Loving the untold stories vlad please keep the coming!!!
Tupac could have helped them, he was a great writer
2pac is corny ass ballet 💃
Mr214 clown
Tupac was playing a character his whole career, if you people dont remember he was wearing a tutu and his younger years and was dancing with Digital Underground in the beginning of his career. That doesnt mean his music was garbage, but he got caught up in a image and ultimately payed the price for it.
He also let them put him in the tub and cover his private parts up with jewelry or gold but I do remember he was in ballet just saying Thug Life
Try getting robbed and shot and backstabbed and let's see if it doesn't change you. Y'all silly mf keep saying that but guess what? How many guys you know shot at the undercovers? You brainwashed punks think it's gangsta to kill ya own kind and snitch to the police. Yeah that's gangsta if gangsta means b****
Keith Murray and 2 pac where the original savages
Jah...this solider is str888 honest man, when speaking about 2Pac and times working with 2Pac...i always like his music now his interviews is str888 #100...ah real nigga dat...respect 🙌

Madvillan It could bee a dam clone dont sound like the real one og mc tone
Pretty hard to believe he was Ryder with his clugged up nose.
😂😂🤣
Thou shalt not blaspheme GTA!
Is it gay for a dude to be worried about another dudes nose. Shit sound gay to me. Out.
@@chandlerscaringia5260 Is it 'gay' to be aware of extremely-obvious facets of a familiar person's voice? No. Is it a sign of your failed, broken masculinity when you say everything is 'gay' when you're too stupid to understand obvious things? YES.
Chandler Scaringia You do notice you never put a question mark right? You should be correcting your grammar, before calling someone gay; Stay in school child.
Well if you put boys in the Hood & Menace II Society together Shareef(the Muslim Character) was in both so You Can draw your Conclusions from that.
who was the Muslim in boyz n the hood
MrWARBUCKS24 Nah, I mean the actor that played the Muslim in Menace II Society was Gangsta in boys in the Hood.
+BlackJohnnyCage oh my nigga that had enough money to buy 100 balls shhhittt
MrWARBUCKS24 Yes sir!!
+BlackJohnnyCage So you mean stealing footballs made him turn muslim? That's deep. LOL
Safir was a rapper and had one of the most memorable parts in the movie.
Glad you slide N.... Most impacted...
Tupac would have been a dope O Dogg
Pac should have been Caine
I like it the way it is🤷🏾♀️
Fuck outta here Tate is O Dogg. The kid from Come Fly with Me is Caine. Pac is dead. Menace is a classic.
I think pac woulda made a betta Kaine
Jae Brice nope
when u hear a real Gangbanger talk .you can feel that shit
"Take 2 with me" I still bump this shit.
'I showed em who's gangster Ryder nigga'
He forgot to mention Saafir, the young brother who got carjacked at the beginning of the movie. He’s from Oakland, Ca.
Tupac talks about this exact topic and he says something along the lines of " they wanted me to be more muslim who was also a gangsta and that was real to me because there's no such thing". So idk wtf this dude is talking about
Maybe pac was lying! damn y’all act like pac can’t do no wrong. Sharif was not a gangster
@@ronnie6696he wasnt lying its common knowledge sharif hung around gangsters and drug dealers but was so called a holy muslim pac felt he was out of place and a vague character the needed more depth
"Now bare with me on this. If they did a Menace II Society in today's generation... What role do you think Slim Jesus would play?"

IhateMEXILANA you fired 😂😂😂
IhateMEXILANA Tha guy who needed the stolen car
These might be the best Vlad interviews!
I'm from Texas and been on Eiht since his first album because of my childhood friend who went to Cali every summer to visit his dad
"All you managed to do was eat mah damn food up"
Pac was the realest nigga.
Arnold Stalone he was a real nigga... Just not a thug. it's like Lonzo said about Ice Cube, he's a good actor.
Just like pac said, there ain’t no such thing as a ‘Muslim Gangster’
💯🕌
That's like saying there's no such thing as a Christian gangster, a Jewish gangster, a Buddhist gangster, an atheist gangster, a heterosexual gangster, a gay gangster. Just because you don't want to associate with such people, doesn't mean they don't belong to the same ethnic/social/religious group as you. So yes, if a person believes in the teachings of the quran and the pedophile prophet, they're a Muslim, like it or not.
@@razalasreficul6902 yo wtf watch your mouth real talk
"Hulk Hogan we coming for you nigga!". Lol
#RipOGPac shout out 2 OgMCEight 💯💯💯💯
2Pac did that song "Do 4 Love" with the lyric about a girl trying to trap him by saying she's pregnant and he's the daddy which further sounds like he would have put so much energy into being Caine if he had been cast for that role instead of Sharif. He would have just gone off on the phone conversation with Erin Wiley and put so much raw anger and defiance into his lines.
Like Ricky Rozay in a way portraying an gangsta image of the real RICK ROSS 😅💯
Eiht is the best interview on the all of Vlad's list.
Eiht one of the realest!! Gyeahhhh!💯🔥🏆💪
The funny thing is that Pac was never a gangsta. He was in the performing arts
lol he never claimed to be one😂. What does going to a performing arts school mean? That your bitch? Lol you niggas are dumb
guwapDCFINEST Thug, gangsta, same shit stupid.
+Put 'em in da RED It's not tho and he explained that mutiple times.
Why niggas act like they exposing Pac for something he was open about? he didn't try to hide it like Prodigy.
That nigga mentioned it countless times and still shot 2 cops, where's the fake?
JaySavageTV Who said anything about exposing? Facts are facts. He played thug no different from Drake playing rapper.
It doesn't make me like pac any less, but it's just interesting.
he was doing it for protection
Neither was Dre, Ice Cube or Snoop Dogg......Easy e and Ren was though. :)
ramp622 so how many "real thugs" have you asked?lmao
Rzz K I'm saying that is what "real dudes" who were around with pac say about him. Not some random ugly nigga off the streets.
ramp622 like who tho?
i used to have the biggest crush on eight on menace to society.
Pac was right because NOBODY talks about Sharif. He was treated like a bit player throughout the flick and his character didn't resonate.
I tell my son all the time at the gas station..."Pump my shit!" Lol. He says "Mom, this not Menace to Society"
I remember when pac went on yo mtv raps about this and Ed lover cover his mouth up
