- Jennie Garth opens up on her 'I Choose Me' podcast about the deaths of her 'Beverly Hills, 90210' co-stars, Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry. The actress gets emotional as she reflects Perry's death in 2019, in the wake of Shannen's death on Sunday after a years-long cancer battle.
RIP to two of my favorite characters Dylan and Brenda
I’d like to believe they are together.
Shannen made an important contribution to breast cancer awareness, spreading knowledge and providing support for others affected by cancer.

We have had 4 stars in the past few years die from breast cancer. Kelly Preston, Olivia Newton-John, Suzanne Sommers and now Shannen. Sucks with ask the research done over the past 70yrs or so, they can’t find a cure

I am so sad at the loss of Shannon Doherty as I was a huge fan of BH 90210 and was also very sad at the loss of Luke Perry!! I graduated highschool in 1988 and have been losing classmates recently,the most recent was earlier this year and it truly sucks and am still shocked by her death as she was a beautiful girl with a smile that lit up the room!! The best lesson to take from all this is to keep your lifelong friends as close as possible and every time you talk to them tell them how much you love them and what they and their friendship means to you!!!!💜😥😇
Yes, I’m an ‘85 grad. We have lost a lot of people from my class in the past couple of years. It really makes you realize your own mortality and makes you more appreciative of each day you’re given.

True. She went on for several more years and kept going up to a certain point. Which thankfully wasn't right away.
I hate it when they say that someone lost their battle to cancer. Shannen fought it with every fabric of her being. She didn't lose at all! She showed all of us no matter how sick we are, we can still get up and go to work. Shannen Doherty lived longer because she kept on getting back up. It must be that Irish in her. They fight like hell and I loved her resilience. I am going to miss her so much. Loved her from when I first saw her in Little House in the Prairie, 90219, Charmed and all the other movies that she has done. Beautiful, charismatic and smart. I just love her so much and know that she is free of all pain and flying high with Heavenly Father.
She lost. Face it. Cancer is cruel. It won.

man people like you who insist on being that obnoxiously literal are the worst. a person has died and you seriously nag about people saying losing to cancer. Yeah she lost. Otherwise she could've been living for at least another 20 years and the doctor did say she wasn't ready to go so like it or not, she lost. Why is it such a bother to you?

I did relate to Brenda because, I know what it’s lose friends over jealousy issues and attitude problems. Ignore Shannen’s then bad girl reputation back then, but in the show Brenda became the villain, but also the outcast in the show. I’m glad that Jennie & Shannen made amends since the late 2000’s with the 90210 reboot. Well so I noticed.
Brenda was my favorite character in Bev Hills. Pru in Charmed. When Shannen no longer appeared in the shows, I stopped watching. I admired her for being herself and not fake like many actors are. Sure, she may have been “difficult” but I’m sure she wasn’t the only one. She was beautiful inside and out and I feel sad for her nearest and dearest. Losing my BFF to cancer, being there with my BFF’s mom when she died, I saw and felt the pain when her daughter 40 yrs old left her and her family. And me and her other friends. Rest In Peace, Shannen 🌹❤

@@kr50401 They were very young during that time. It's so annoying when people decide what other people they don't know think or feel about things. Jennie and Shannen had some issues back then. Shannen was going through a rough time in her personal life that she didn't share with her castmates so her lateness to the set caused friction. Shannen and Jennie resolved their differences as they got older.

Whatever your believes are, I totally agree with your statement about Luke being there for Shannon! I faced a near death experience and my late sister was there to confort me and she told me that everything was gonna be okay for me…. and here I am, surviving what should have been my death! So yeah, wether you believe or not, it’s okay if Jenny thinks of that.
Shannon is one of my favorite actress since beginning of time beautiful loved her hair all her movies and shows I'm so glad she is no longer suffering so she didn't lose her battle but she definitely gained her wings ❤❤❤❤❤

So sad. I was a teenager in the '90s and 90210 was one of my favorite shows. I also loved Charmed and repeats of Little House, plus I liked Our House. I was also a fan of Heathers and Girls Just Want to Have Fun. I wasn't out of the closet yet, but Shannen was one of my high school crushes. Goodbye
Maybe they weren't good friends or friends at all, but I'm sure Jennie took Shannen's passing real hard. Jennie is a part of an icon group and this group lost 2... and that's not easy for the ones who are still here. I'm sure it's hard for all of the cast, no matter how well connected they were.
Man Jennie broke down during that podcast. I listened to the whole thing. It was hard to hear.

I grew up on watching 90210 i still watch old episodes to this day. Its one of my favorite shows of the 90s. Its remarkable the show was popular feom 1991/2000 most shows don't get the rule I love the 90s.
She fought hard 9 yrs she didn’t lose she was a warrior. In the 90’s I didn’t feel as beautiful as other gals and you helped me see that I’m beautiful too and it’s okay as a girl to stand up for ourselves. Thank u for all the laughs, strength, love, and support you have showed us fans over the yrs even in your hardest moments. I feel in my heart Luke was there waiting for you ❤ We will miss you Shannen ❤😢

I'd have thought that Shannon Doherty's death was less shocking as she'd known she was dying for several years whereas Luke Perry's death from two strokes was sudden, out of the blue and unexpected.

Agreed ❤ same harmful spirit that encourages people who are stage iv to „stay positive and just fight it“ or person xyz only died from cancer when „they gave up“ .. stage iv means it’s terminal and with our current means people can only prolong life . Patients are advised by doctors to accept their premature death and our society wants to shame people into feeling bad they fail at fighting cancer 😢
especially since she was announced to have recovered so much from it in 2018 that she returned to acting, but apparently just got it again in 2019 at stage 4
