I would say it's the strongest wind I have recorded and may very well be strongest all time. The only contender would be Hurricane Charley's eyewall seconds before the eye but I didn't have the camera rolling at the time.
maybe higher because cameras WAY underestimate winds. Like for example a severe thunderstorm doesnt really look like the winds are blowing at 30 mph gusts even tho its gusting to 65.
You could but you would be picked up and blown downwind or likely into a solid structure. I've been blown down in wind a lot less than what you see here. 80 mph wind will knock you down unless you bend at the waist and point into the wind careful to tuck your arms in. Only chance would be to crawl and hug the ground but only if you had to.
The maximum gust of wind I recorded in Tacloban during Super Typhoon Haiyan.
wow imagine strong gusts like that hits a house made with wooden materials
For you, which storm is gustier? CHARLEY OR HAIYAN?
Haiyan obviously had more powerful winds, but Charley sounded way more ferocious...maybe it was just the camera being used though
Haiyan
Would this be the strongest gust of wind you've experienced in your life? It look insane.

how did that roof manage to stay on?
Strong Arch...Architecture builds?sorry bad English but maybe its built different and well built
Hey Jim. What would you say your estimate for this wind gust was. Looks like it could be around 170 mph

How are these structures not getting destroyed!?
CanadaDank They were built very well.
Would it be possible to go out in the open in that wind gust?

I lived through CHARLEY
In what city? That matters.
