When I was 10 in the early 1950s, we were very poor and I had the idea of raising chickens to have something better to eat. With no money, I needed to find material to build a nest box and chicken coop. I used free fruit boxes from the grocery store and material that I got from a neighbor's old chicken coop. I got a setting Banham hen and 10 eggs from my grandmother and found enough soft drink bottle to sell for money to buy 12 chicks from the feed store. This little hen raised 22 chicks.
That is awesome!
Micha is truly maturing. Well done Micha.😊
It can be difficult, when seeing other people’s successes, while you have not even been able to get a garden going, to not get discouraged. Thanks Mike, for the reminder…baby steps is not bad, slower is not hopeless.
Call it the “Quacker Tracker”
Or Quactor
Good one ‼️
😢
Could call it Quack House.😅
I love that you show the hard of work of getting the wood ready. Most videos skip that step. Make it look real easy
Great job on the duck tractor! Micah is so adorable and great helper! Getting so mature!!! To move the duck tractor better, can you add two more wheels in the front? Still luv your homestead!❤❤❤
Micah, great job helping your Dad! And you have your parents' sense of humor- you appear to have fun while doing your tasks! Nice attitude!
Micha really enjoys doing homestead improvements. It’s like fun to him. It’s like playtime to him… he’s a real trouper.
Keep on doing one thing daily and enjoy your personal progress.
Your channel is informative, inspirational and fun to watch… I love your content 😊
If you continue to improve on your homestead and keep them healthy and strong, and your garden increases year to year, that's what counts. You never know if other people have the things that are shown or photoshopped
Lots of nails & no injuries
👌👌👌. 🙏👍🌻
Some of those old nails will be the best nails you’ll ever have. I try to save them because companies don’t use good long lasting nails anymore
We always save nails. It's easier to pull them. Hammering them, they can bend and you don't wanta put a skill saw blade through nails.
😂❤❤ loved this video. You could call it the “Quacker Box” Have a blessed day 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️👩🏻🌾🦆
I love how you are always take the time to teach your kids as you do your work
I would love the recipe for the pop cycles. They sound wonderful.
You did a great job building that duck nesting box.
The Duck Bus! Or Duck Mobile! Y'all are doing great and I'm sure the ducks will love this
Michael will build his own home one day ❤❤❤❤
HAPPY to see the boys helping you!
Good advice. I live in a temperate rain forest and have learned to eat what grows, and either do without or purchase those things that don't. No reason to get worked about what I can't do here and focus on what I can. Bonus: I can get free Pacific salmon (my favorite is Sockey, a subsistence fish which I can for myself as well as give to elderly who have no access to it,) halibut, cod, rockfish, venison from our delicious Sitka Black Tail, Dungeness Crab -- the best crab in the world, Petersburg shrimp and other lovely sea food like clams and abalone, and wild ducks. Who can beat that?
As for duck eggs: they are my favorite because the yolks are larger in proportion to the white than with chicken eggs. And the yolk is where most of the nutrients are. 🥰
Your ducks look very healthy..
Ba-gok shack would be for chickens, so a duck hut should be a Quack-shack or a Duck hut. Fun video , great help from your boys.Well, that is one way to get rid of rats !!
Micah is strong!! Very nice duck nesting box!
I’ve been dreaming of something like this for my geese! Thank you🙏🏽 Always a pleasure to see your beautiful family💚
Watching the boys pound the nails OUT of the wood reminded me of when my brother and I did this all summer long. We were the nail removers so that our Dad could reuse the lumber to build our house when we moved to the country. I was six and my brother was 12 years old. Dad had torn down several old houses and built us a lovely 3 bedroom home. He used lathe which was applied diagonally inside the plywood of outer walls. The outside walls were overlaid with siding made of rigid stone shingles. Of course the interior was dry walled....so there were actually several layers in each exterior wall. That house stood through many a storm.....and we lived in tornado alley, IE. Central Kansas!! Just threw me back in time!!
That is such a great story!
Take care wonderful family. Many blessings
“ Quaker shack” or “ Duck Dome” great video I love watching the way you repurpose things
Yay for popsicles on a hot day, good job momma !
Josiah and Micah are getting pretty handy with those hammers. Good job boys.
The duck boxes are looking good and Micah is a great help! 4 Wheels will make it easier to pull, but maybe you had only two there at the moment. 👍🏼👍🏼
I picked eggs on a duck farm for years and they used old tires , lot of bending but ducks used them Nice duck nest you built with your son, I got rid of my ducks to many mud holes , just geese and hens now , love geese
Wise man. God bless you
Praise God you got this land we here in America are goiing to see some troubles times
May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the animals.
Wow! Micha has really become quite a proficient helper! Haha, but needs to check that Hotwire!!
Shalom my friend! Love the Duck Tractor. As you’re building it I thought if you had a shorter strap on the front it might be easier to move. That way you won’t have to lift so high to keep the front from dragging.
Man, dude, your dialogue in the first 60 seconds of this video was so on target. Thank you for your words of wisdom and constant encouragement!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent Quacker tractor. You and the boys did a wonderful job.
Hello brother Fit Farmer awesome job God Bless you and your family
I understand! I have had to put my plans on hold to let a sister stay with me until she can go back home .
I love your channel. You and your family have a real quality that is a pleasure to watch,
As for me, I just try to survive on a daily basis. Satan whispers in my ear regularly that all would be better off if I would expire. But, I keep trying- one day at a time.
Duckingham Palace or The Waddle Inn lol. Awesome job guys. You are right most important thing is surviving. The prettiness of it doesnt matter compared to functionality. God bless. ❤
Great build! Thank you for sharing! I love y'all!
Keep your eye on the prize..
Goal feed yourself & family... improve what you can teach others and be happy 😁 is best cause keeping up with others robs your joy peace of mind..
I love your "duck motel" idea.
I agree to name it the Quacker Tractor 😂😂😂 So cute 🥰
I think you should name your mobile duck nesting box "Duck Duck Go".

Micah is such a great help😊
I vote for the Quacktor !! 😂

That looks like a lot of work for a hot day. We've been having heat in the 100s and my husband insists on working outside. He does drink quite a bit of Gatorade and water. Make sure to hydrate and get some electrolytes. 😃😃👋👋💖💖

The Best Nest!
The kids are gonna make great homesteaders. Btw I'd be more afraid of finding snakes under that wood than rats. Well they're both creepy 😮.
Looks duck approved to me good job.

Home Sweet Duck Home
Micah you are rockin' the build😊
Duck box inn!
Quack Shaw, or Egg Shaw. Hey guys, you're doing great. Nobody has perfect videos. I like your realism. I'd give you some milk crates if you needed more. I offered to give them to a milk company, and they said no. Love the build, too. P.S. I think you could shorten your rope handle, so you're not pulling your arms up so high.
Call it your "quacker box" 🦆
interesting build.!!👍
Call it a Duck Truck!!
Thank you, one of my long time you tubers, just spend almost 10,000$ on fancy raised beds! I worry beginners, would get discouraged! Thank you for showing those odd us how to make do!
Thank you for all rhe encouragement. I don't have chickens or ducks, since we have foxes around the community. I love the way you are always improving things. God bless.
