Yeah it has to be that seal, good detective work. I'm not sure on this platform if that shaft spins even in 2wd or not. Drives me nuts how clean that thing is underneath. Ours has 100k and it's way rustier. Living in the wrong state.
This is a classic case of neglect. Seal dry up when not used. This is why when storing a vehicle like over winter, it is recommended that you run the vehicle to full temperature once a month while while in the driver's seat also running the transmission to Drive and Reverse several times during the process or if possible drive it around "the block" a time or two, turning on the air conditioning for ten minutes minimum, turn the steering wheel as far left - right 10 times to circulate that fluid. I have seen more than one high dollar cars that had less than 1000 miles with oil leaks after sitting all winter.
Makes sense. I have an 05 Acura RL with this leak and I really haven’t driven that much in the last 5 years. Less than 4k per year. Agree. Everything works better the more you use it.
Yea I seen this kind of deal on fluid leaking on a tc . You leave the vehicle sitting for a while and the case halfs are dry , drive the vehicle and you notice a slight oil stain on bottom of case , how ever you look up and see the trail of oil to its original location
My 2015 Landy is doing the exact same thing! Please let us know the results. My Landy only has 56,000 K . Much appreciated. I live in the mountains of Peru and drive 80% of the time off highway in Lo if that makes any difference.
Watched the oil pump vid ! Wow what a lot of work! I have a 2002 trailblazer 287.000 miles runs good Need to do the valve cover gasket or just keep sucking the oil out of the spark plug hole lol
@@KevinNadeau that’s great man!! Thank you for sharing ! My truck was mine and I gifted it to my daughter I rebuilt basically the whole frontend 2 radiators 2 fan clutches 2 water pumps And recently a crank sensor .. I think I have a rear bearing making noise And I did see one guy video his job and he was struggling because you need a puller etc.. But honestly it’s just the point of the matter now that I want to see how far it will go lol it’s been a really decent truck! I also have a 08 Ss awd that’s a fun one haha !
Yea that has to be leaking from the seal, Mines has 204,000 Changed all my fluids from the transfer case, front and rear diff and transmission and oil a couple thousand miles ago and it’s going strong 💯
Glad to hear you're truck is running good. I did end up changing the front output shaft seal on my transfer case. I just need to find some time to edit and upload the video 👍
Why is this transfer case happened on my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder twice before I get to 130.000 mile first time it was covered now I have to pay very sad
Thank you all for helping me track down this leak. I think I've found the source. Stay tuned for the repair. Be sure to subscribe and hit that bell.
Okay I love it
I agree with your diagnosis and hope to hell you got it repaired by now, November 2024!

I think I have taken pretty good care of my Envoy for the past ~300k miles.

It could also be a blocked vent tube. Creating pressure, which would force oil past the lip-seal. 👍

Do you have a video of the replacement of the seal?

It definitely was a lot of work, but I learned a lot too. I still have the Envoy and am north of 305k miles.

Did the trans fluid leak collect along the whole bottom of transfer case along gasket, looking as though it was coming from the gasket?
I'm pretty sure it was the output shaft seal. It hasn't leaked since 👍
Having the same issue. Any diy videos on replacing that seal?
Yes sir ua-cam.com/video/bKNXZVcUrSo/v-deo.html
@@KevinNadeau thanks. Got it done today. Mine took 2 quarts. Do you know if that's to much? Yours didn't take two.
@@Rob-wh3vl Awesome👍 I believe the capacity is 2 qts.
I saw this same thing on my friends Kia Stinger Gt2 while doing an oil change.
Very useful and clear video.
👍
I have the same issue on a 2016 and have not been able to track down the culprit. It may be this same issue.

did your truck get strong natural gas like smell?
Not that I remember. Just drops of fluid on my driveway.
How much to get this issue fixed? Mine is doing the same thing.
Just the cost of a seal and a few cold 🍻
@@KevinNadeau Do you have a step by step how to video?

If you have posted the results, where can it be found?
Thank you.
👍
good
Get some jack stands!
Fast forward to 1:46, they're under the frame rails👍
Mines doing that too
It's a pretty straight forward fix. Good luck👍
I hope so body.
$600 job by Honda service. :(
Did that work?
It seems to have 👍
