Somehow you walked up those planks without using nails. I am surprised they did not slide off.
I gotta say, I've been watching for well over a year now, and this has been my favorite series probably. Just has me constantly dying from laughter. Anytime I see a notification from you with this game as the thumbnail... I drop everything to watch it lol.
I like that the char you control in this game is so wonky yet to capable of climbing.
That and the wonk of the building controls being excatly oppsite of a CAD program.
It reminds me of two principles, keep it stupid simple, and keep it simple; stupid, basically meaning assume everyone involved from building to using anything will be stupid and get where they shouldnt.
I still want to know if the "easter egg" coins would count as an egg for the challenge...
“A B is good enough for me” sounds suspiciously like something an architect would say if I’m being honest 😂😂.
Architects get straight As because they're dumb and waste time. Engineers are efficient - they only get Ds, because it's the passing grade that matters, anything higher is just for useless looks.
I mean a B means he made something that allowed the task to be completed successfully. It's definitely a good Engineer grade. An architect grade is the last level. They care about how it looks over how it functions
Nope, that's definitely something an engineer would say. Usually accompanied by unstoppable tears of joy and choirs to the heaven about how they're finally done with that exam and will never have to see the back of it again...

I took me about 3-4 hours to solve the cantilever level and I am just amazed how clean and elegant your solution was (got something similar eventually but with lots of unnecessary elements). Pure joy to wach
Enjinir: The only game that proves a "Real Civil Engineer" is more of an architect than an ex circus performer.

This game does not give me confidence in you being an engineer. The wonky planks and the corner being back and you just “fixing” it with a plant of wood
Yeah like this is one of very few times, it seemed like he actually tried to do proper engineering... and got horrible grades for it...

Did you ever consider climbing the direct path up to the higher nest via the drop chute might have meant faster access and an easier egg drop?
I got 2 eggs into the basket in 3 seconds, Though i had to counterbalance the chute from over the other side of the roof. That was a fun one. Can't wait for release.
This game has made me really good at figuring out the bare minimum needed to hold something up… the cantilever platform I did with the main bridge, and a single support holding up the walkway… it trembles before I even step on it and walking on it is like trying to tightrope walk but it works…

Matt is very good at making things harder than necessary.
A real Civil Engineer is currently getting demolished by a Scrapman.
Don't forget that Scrapman is an ex circus perfomer. So a circus performer is a better engineer than someone that claims to be an engineer.

3 wheels, 1 board, 3 nails. The sack holds the board down onto the wheels, the board presses outwards on the wheels to keep them upright. Place the cart so that the sack falls onto the front right, and place two wheels on the front with one wheel on the back right. Push the cart with your body.
Hmmm..... seems like the bird nests just need to stay in that area, not necessarily upright. Perhaps easier to make offset baskets under them to catch them, but turn them over and dump the contents down a slide to you.
That nest level is giving me so much anxiety, i cant even properly describe it

Seems like a simple ramp connected to a thing that lets the bird nest tip the eggs out without falling wouldve worked much easier
just... go straight up and brace the two towers together. Use the smaller tower as a weight to hold the bigger tower back under tension.

7:33 If watching Matt play Polybridge has taught me anything, there is a way to complete the level with a foot of rope, a 20-inch wooden beam, and a janky physics system.

Honestly, the guy looks and walks like a maintainer more then a engineer. I mean... we all have back, knee issues at a min and depending on the job brain damage is a thing either injury or sniffing bad vapors for years.
The vapors may be bad, but they sure smell nice :P

When you finally get the structure to hold under its own weight then the game decides to throw birds down at it. 🤣🤣 To think you haven't even added your climbing weight into the mix. Oh man. All that leverage in this episode. Im truly astonished these rickety wooden structures can manage to stand, even with Matt's peak enjeniring.
So my theory from the first video stands - this is the story of an architect who was watching engineering on the internet and got enlightened and decided to stop architecting and start engineering... unfortunately no one taught him properly and he's just been watching silly YT gameplays but he is trying his damned hardest to not be an architect and follow his new found dream of becoming a real engineer like his online idols...

Day fifty six of asking Matt to add the Second Narrows Bridge, Ironworkers Memorial to the Wheel of Bridgetune
It is a cantilevered truss bridge, carrying 6 lanes of traffic from Vancouver to North Vancouver in B.C. across the second narrowing of the Burrard Inlet.
It's name comes from the fact that it collapsed twice during construction, which unalived 23 people in total (Hence the name, ironworkers memorial).

If it helps, this game seems to be set in the medieval period so there was a lot more trial and error in engineering back then as practices and measures wouldn't be standardized until later.
Yeah, before the early modern period no one was educated to be an engineer, they just developed an interest in engineering through tinkering.
@@amymason156 A good point and thanks for calling out my bad historiography. And its true that there was engineering education and skill back in the ancient and medieval periods as well, and a lot less of the mathematical knowledge of Ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt was lost than often realized. I should have said that the universal infrastructure was less standardized, hence inches in England were shorter than in France (part of why people thought Napoleon was shorter than he was) and so local engineers (and other trades) maintained their knowledge in their local area but there was less communication and so practices were more varied, albeit within a limit since if the structure falls down its no good.

We have a sandbox mode already, and turning off physics in the sandbox is what we call "architect mode" 😂

JFC have you never seen a wheelbarrow? or any vehicle with an axle? You over-engineered the _hell_ out of that cart. Handle beams on TOP of the wheel blocks, a pair of legs in between the wheels and handles. Pick up the handles and go. End cross-brace for convenience optional.
