This is definitely my all time favourite. How pretty was that market and not over crowded. I loved the Christmas tree and all the twinkling lights and decorations. I can’t wait for more Christmas market video’s.xx
OMG, I feel so warm and toasty just watching this. I've never had mulled wine but I've had mulled cider which was amazing. I love that the market wasn't completely overrun with crowds.
LOVE mulled cider. Mulled wine is cool because everyone seems to do it a little bit differently, you'll see in the other cities the name changes and ingredients are different! still amazing though!
What a lovely video:) Glad you like Vilnius on Christmas :) here christmas decorations on every corner. it's like a little competition, which ones house will have more decorations :D
It is such a festive, happy time! Feel like everyone is in such good spirits ☺️ I honestly LOVE the mittens - they made me smile everyday wearing them 🤣
Hi guys. Love the idea of a Christmas Market series. We might have to borrow this in 2025 when we are in the area on our drive around the World. For now, We are excited to be planning an April trip to the Balkans and Vilnius is 3-4 days of the trip. Thank you for the inspiration. Cheers to 2023 being amazing for both of our channels. Hope to see you out there. - Turtle and Bear
2025?! You must be great planners to be that organised 🤣 we don’t even have accom for tomorrow night! Driving around the world? That’s incredible! Bring on a great 2023! 😊❤️
It’s a foundation of the city celebration and it’s not the date when Vilnius was founded, but a when the letters of Gediminas reached Europe. There is a lot a history in this and a legend, so look it up or I will crash my PC.
I'm glad you finally got to try a FRESH stroopwafel. I've started going xmas market hopping in europe over the past two years and have been to Paris, Strasbourg, Colmar, Basel, Mainz, Frankfurt, Vienna, Prague, Dresden, Nuremberg, Stuttgart. Highly recommend the ones in Germany and Austria. Colmar was great but kind of hard to get to. I'm not even as big a xmas fan as you so I'm sure you'd enjoy. Also, no shame getting mittens. I have a flip mitten glove so sort of the best of both words. Here's a tip, stuff a heat pack inside and your fingers will be warm all night!
Ooohhh good idea with the heat pack! We had other friends do the markets in Germany and they looked incredible! So much so that we are currently trying to work out how we can get there this Christmas 😄
@@JordanandEmily Another tip, you can stick heat packs in your shoes too to keep your toes warm. They make special ones for the shoe because they react to air and there is less air exposure in the shoes, but I've used the regular ones and they worked fine. If you still have holes in your shoes, I would think they would work great 😜. If I recall some of those xmas market cities weren't cheap, even the small ones. I try to go in early December hoping for better weather, less people and prob lower prices. Not sure if it made any difference. I'll probably go again this year, just not sure where yet.
Your 100% right, we skipped of Germany entirely because it was too expensive for us 😄 so it's definitely still a dream at this stage but never say never! I actually went back to some old shoes (because of our budget) which have less holes 😄
Always wanted to try hot mulled wine, it's not too popular in the states. P.S. - There's no way this hasn't been brought to Jordan's attention before - but he could be a stunt double for actor Nicholas Hoult.
Almost worth getting a recipe and making a batch of your own! such a good Christmas drink 🤣 This is the first he's been told that but we once had someone say he looks like Sebastian Stan in a tiktok. 😆 which went straight to his head!
You guys need those little hand warmers you put in your pockets they last a few hours after you c]shake them to activate them. Not sure where you get them there but you would think they would be at like pharmacies or something.
haha you're kinda lucky cause it seems you missed the massive amounts of snow just by few weeks. It was hard to walk the streets and heard some flights were canceled
Woah! we got a lot of snow in later countries but it never got too much for us, we loved it! Would have been pretty frustrating to have flights cancelled though haha
If you like it that much, come back for the 700th birthday. The celebration is going to be out of this Millennia. (a fact to blow your mind, the Lithuanian language was first spoken in the Baltic region 100 B.C.)
@@JordanandEmily since you replied, here is something interesting. In 2009, we celebrated or country's 1000 anniversary. In 1009 A.D. Lithuania was first mentioned in foreign texts.
No it wasn't. Lithuanian language has split from Latvian language at around 7th century C.E. Before that it was one language so there was no Lithuanian language at 100 B.C, it was some sort of protolanguage.
ooh we would have LOVED to check these out as well (maybe next year if we are lucky!) we also originally were hoping to explore Zakopane in Poland as well!
Honestly, as a German I have to say that the Christmas market in Vilnius disappoint me a bit. It is so small and the atmosphere is not the same as the one in Germany.
It is quite small, but it's in 3 spots to avoid crowds - this was done during Covid. Also they're visiting at 4pm on a workday, so most people are still at work. During weekends half of this square is filled with people and there's queues in the market. Pre-covid the market was in a circle around the tree 🎄 with fairy lights above, and that felt magical.
I completely get this - because it’s super NOT traditional (who doesn’t love a classic red gold and green tree!) but we loved the creativity and reason behind it!
I'm from Lithuania and we really disappointed of Vilnius Christmas tree, probably most expensive in Europe and the shape remind the cake, really weird and overpriced Christmas tree
