My husband asked me this morning why do I watch somebody w diabetes being we neither one have it but both his parents where type 2 diabetics and i am constantly borderline diabetic but always get my A1C down drop some weight and i become no longer borderline. I told him for one Mary is freaking hilarious can not be in a pissy mood when watching her, and two nothing wrong with learning about something we may both eventually get as we get older. love your content thanks for sharing and teaching me new diabetic info take care

Watching you helps me understand my little sister better, she has type one and understanding how things work and finding new gadgets to make her life better. She has to manually give herself shots and corrections so I like knowing what gadgets are out there for her.
You will love omnipod 5. My daughter age 12 just got it and it has helped us keep her in range longer for sure. We love your videos. Thank you for showing us that we are not alone and we all struggle.
I am a mom of Type 1 diabetic ( he has the tattoo also) as a mom my heart is invested in you. I wish you health and thank you for sharing. You are amazing.
Seriously, I’m loving your videos. I grew up with my mum being a t1 and taking insulin all the time. She recently got the omnipod but got burnout with it because she felt like she was always doing things wrong with going high and low regularly! She’s back on the injections taking long and quick acting but it’s great to see her life from a different perspective rather than as her daughter! Thank you so much for sharing!!! Imma send your channel to her now 😂
You are absolutely hilarious! You're chaotic in the best way. I'm also at risk for t2d from a different endocrine disorder. These videos are very helpful for seeing how day to day life goes with this. I think I've also been experiencing symptoms of lows more often now, which is not good because I work with sharp needles, ampules, and glass vials.
I'm currently taking a course to become a Pharmacy Technician and I'm on the math portion where it is discussing different types of insulin, how to measure units, etc. So this is even more interesting to watch for me!
Hey just always remember that there is always anomalies. My pharmacy know me now because of two things. First I am the only one that gets the insulin that I do ( it's a u500) and the quantity I have to take would probably kill most type 1s. I am an insulin resistant diabetic with a necrotic pancreas. I can't use a pump because I take more insulin in a day then one of those things can hold.
Getting new diabetic items in the mail is actually so fun! Even just unboxing prescribed items which you have to pickup is just so exciting! Honestly, getting the Omnipod 5 is totally worth it, and you should totally get it as soon as it comes to Canada! (It would totally help with all your high blood sugars, as it not only auto-corrects through connection with the dexcom, but it also learns your trends, schedules, and it will increase or decrease for areas where you go low or high a lot)
Love to see i. Not the only one who gets excited over new equipment. I have it set to 3.5 hours for my duration. But that was set when I did a dafne course back in 2015ish and never been changed
I’m new to your channel but I was diagnosed with type 2 last October at age 42. I’ve been on Glucophage/Metformin and Ozempic since then and it’s been good for me. I come from a family where both types run on both sides so I figure getting educated about ways to receive insulin could help me in the future. You’re really funny so I’m gonna stick around!
Mary, can you please post the amazon link to the pdm and screen protectors that you just received? Btw, I love watching you. It makes me realize that I am not the only one having certain thoughts or feelings about this diabetes journey.
www.amazon.ca/shop/clutzychick here is my amazon page!! I linked the screen protector for you under "omnipod." I have tried a couple different versions of the screen protectors- this is definitely my favourite one so far! 😊
I suggest using first in first out method for your supplies. If you still have some supplies left when you restock, make sure to put it to a more accessible place or that it's the first thing you pick before the new ones. Not sure if some will have expiration but you need to make sure. Love your content by the way.
thanks so much for this i and my sister have type one diabities and we where so confused and this helps us understands what do do and the right way thank so much
Hopefully the Omnipod 5 is available for you now because it’s awesome. I have the Omnipod 5/Dexcom G6 closed loop system and having the pod automatically adjust my insulin levels, cutting my basal rate down during my most active times at work, and being able to keep my insulin on me at all times in spite of the rules about personal bags at work are huge selling points for me. When I was on injections I was told I would have to leave my bag in an unsecured area and risk losing my medication. I thought to myself F that I’m gonna get my doctor to switch me over to a pump because you guys (my bosses) can’t make me take that off just like you can’t make me take my Dexcom off.
Idk why but I always thought that the PDM was just an older phone of yours with a omnipod app, and it was just called a PDM because it’s what you use to control the omnipod but lol 😂😂 learned smth new today
I'm a T1D and I've never had an insulin pump because i have nightly hypos and have ever since I was diagnosed. I never knew what a basal was! I only knew my bolus which is the dosage of insulin I manually inject. I now feel like a more educated diabetic 😂
The fact that you have everything you need as a type 1 diabetes but I have to search my whole city to find one pen of Insulin. It’s just so hard to find Insulin in my country because of some weird stuff and I also got Freestyle Libre sensor for checking my blood sugar with an expensive price but I still have to get along with it so yeah🙂(I’m 13 and I have DT1 for 4 years)
Hi Mary, I just found your channel a couple of days ago and subbed yesterday. I'm type 2, diagnosed a dozen years ago but probably diabetic a couple of years prior. I have historically struggled with diet, but done well when I was conscientious about it. I was a bit high on my A1c in May, worked hard on control and was even higher in August and higher yet in November. So now I have been started on insulin and the first week my fasting glucose actually increased, dosage was increased and I seem to be pretty good for the past week except for a carb binge day. I'm taking 2 oral meds and a long acting daily pen. When I went on insulin my Dr took me off Metformin and gave me a consult for a nephrologist, so I'm a bit stressed about my kidneys at the moment. I love your energy and openness about your diabetes. I am a bit curious about your target for carbs, do you try to maintain a set quantity daily or does your glucose at the moment control the next meal?
Having the T-slim with control IQ changed my life I went from A1C in the 8s and 9s to 6.9 and I couldn't be happier with it most of the time. The only annoying thing is the 4hr insulin duration you can't change. I'd do better if it was shorter.
Diabetic for a little under 13 years. Type 2. I've been doing oral medication for that time, but they don't think it's working anymore and I now have a once a week injection as well.
Do you have Dexcom on the auto ordering? Also being stuck high, can relate. Is the new omnipod a loop system on its own or are you doing the whole thing with Dexcom and a phone?
I do not! the dexcoms are available at my local pharmacy so i just pick them up! 😁 It will be on its own loop system, right now just have the dexcom readings on my phone!
Edited to add: Son just came in from work. He found his PDM. It was in the backseat of the car. Really thought he hadn't left the house with it. But so glad he found it. Said he just glanced into the backseat and saw it. We both had searched the car separately twice each. The PDM is all black and with a black case and I thought figured it was leaning up against something black and we were just missing it. The car is black and the interior is too. Buying a bright case right now so no more black. Omnipod 5 has an app to run it for Andriod but the ios is not out yet and of course, he has an iPhone. I wish a new PDM would arrive at our house. Guess I have to be a good momma and get a new one ordered. My son lost his first PDM in 6 years of using Omnipod. He still has his original PDM from his first Omnipod, he has two dashes PDMs, and now he has only had his Omnipod 5 PDM since August and he lost it in our home this weekend. We cannot find it anywhere. I can see the last time he used it on the Glooko app and he didn't leave the house for 24 hours and so we know it is here and have torn the house up and can't find it. You are going to love the Omnipod 5. My son is 18 and was diagnosed 6 years ago and his A1c is the best it has ever been since diagnosis. I just can't say enough good things about the O5. Remember all diabetics are of course different from each other and the amount of insulin you need is what you need. My son is insulin resistant. So he actually uses Humalog U200 (double strength) in his Omnipod 5 so that he can get the full 3 days out of it and not have to use long-acting in addition. So his carb ratio is 8 carbs to every 1 unit of U200 Humalog. (4:1 for U100). He sets the max amount of insulin at 30 units. That is the max amount the Omnipod allows and he needs it. Now for the length of insulin between corrections, his endo has always had him at 2 hours. I think it really also depends on the person. My son is an athlete and a powerlifter. His needs have gone down as he gets healthier and in better physical shape. Anyway ...wanted to share and let people see the difference between Diabetics.
I also cannot wait for the omnipod 5! I am so glad he found his PDM! I've seen people stick apple air tags onto their PDMS to help locate it I'm not sure if that would help or not, but an idea! 😁 Hopefully they make the omnipod 5 available soon for iphones!!
My old employer is also a diabetic but he a pen with insulin and uses it long working insulin b4 he goes to sleep and slow working insulin b4 every meal

You should be careful with showing your address on UA-cam. I was going to send this in a private message but can't find how... You never know who is watching your videos... Just in case you didnt realize you did it.
I was literally about to say the same thing
