PP makes the punish game on sheik look so effortless, but it's really an amazing thing how well he recognizes and reacts to swedish's DI in the middle of his combos. Swedish didn't have terrible DI in this set, but PP made it look like he did.
I don't understand. All the marth guides say "stay grounded, do not commit to the air at all", but here ppmd is getting quite meaty hits with fair nair. Help pls?
"Stay grounded" is just a general rule in the MU, doesn't mean aerials are never good in neutral. You should do aerials when you think the sheik is gonna jump (which pp is really good at), is already in the air, or when sheik is in the lag of a move and out of crouch cancel percent.
Hello from the future. The only marth guide you should be watching is Zain. I figured this video a classic but outdated at the time for it's time noticed that Marth players do infact play grounded because that was the meta back then. Todays day and age you wanna learn from Zain.
He was stuck in the magnifying glass. Damage is always done when a character is inside the magnifying glass which is dictated by relativity of the camera angle to the character model and since Swedish was closer to left-center of the stage PP fell out of the lens and went into the mg state.
everyone saying that marth can beat sheik because they watch ppmd lmao. you have to be crazy good to make marth work against sheik at a top level. sheik definitely still wins but ppmd holds the key to only making it 45/55 as opposed to 40/60
we dont have enough information to judge, since mew2king is the only current top player who mains marth and there are no sheik mains who match his status. the last time we saw marth/sheik in the top 5 was with PP and m2k, which PP did look evenly matched in, but theres a real chance thats all a credit to PP and not marth. outside of the highest level of top 5 play, it still looks like it's anywhere from 40/60 to 45/55 but not even. so we have to wait until PP comes back and shows the marths a way. and then when you look at new players especially i feel safe calling it a 35/65.
Accurate assessment for the most part. I just got back from Genesis this past weekend and talked to Mew2King and Shroomed and they both told me they think Marth has a distinctive and slight advantage in the matchup (55/45). Take that for what you will
+JoshuaMari Watch plup vs pp at summit. Plup beats him. Marth DEFINITELY does not win. Maybe its even at top level but I still think sheik has a slight advantage. And at lower level sheik easily beats marth. Marth has to work way harder for combos, while sheiks are super free.
+Morgan Murphy That was like PP's worst tournament in a LONG time, while I'd agree that the matchup is definitely at least slightly in shieks favor, I wouldn't recommend a set of PP's from summit to anyone.
+Ubermunki3 no. It's very easy to ken combo Sheik with Marth, arguably easier than it is on Fox because of the DI opportunities. Her being lighter yet floatier means the tipper puts her in an awkward space that's very easy to hit.
In fact, Marth has a guaranteed 0-death on Sheik on FD if you just watch her DI well enough you can uthrow, utilt, fair her all the way off and then dair.
PPMD dash dances are sooooooo awesome
PPMD is probably the smartest smasher to ever play the game, and his intelligence really shows in his gameplay.
Matthew Watts agreed

+super llam You can roll on reaction though.
5:12 pp takes percent from being in the magnifying glass while on stage
3-1 Victory, Come on D1 lol
PP WE MISS YOU

@@Zero-rj6re today I don't play melee anymore. Thanks! :D
I miss ppmd
5:13 can someone xplain how PPMD got 1% out of nowhere?

I feel like highest level its 50/50. It is pretty difficult at low-medium level.

thanks PP for wrecking sheik's main with marth
Zain...notice me senpai
PPMD proves that Marth vs Sheik is even.
+Jarl Ulfric not really, PPMD is a god so character match up don't matter when you're at that level playing against people worse than you.
Marth wins.

+Morgan Murphy I don't think you can take PP's performance at Summit as a reference to any matchup.

PPMD messed up Swedish rofl
sheik mains that suck at the marth matchup in 2016
why do people like this kind of commentary?
if you're getting Ken comboed as sheik your DI is bad...just fyi
+Ubermunki3 Not necessarily. If you use the weak hit of fair it's possible to ken combo even with good DI
+SSBM Tutorials I thought the weak hit is a sakurai angle

Allmywhat That's not guaranteed.
