You cannot truly appreciate this piece unless you absolutely understand the story that is expressed repeatedly in the melody. The Cloud Atlas Sextat is a musical mirror or version, if you will, of what we are all born with and all have the ability to...actually listen to our hearts, our gut feelings, our first instincts. That millisecond when we want to help before we judge, care before we kill and love before we hate.
I haven't watch yet the movie. Just saw the trailer but this piece already caught me and next thing I know tears is already running on my cheeks. The soul always know.
I wish we all had more faith and compassion toward our immortal selves. The everlasting light that never fades, even when plunged into darkness and despair. But we let our egos wrest control from the self, and we let ourselves be led astray. We fail to listen to our brightest, most brilliant voice. When our soul shines with kindness and compassion for our fellow souls, we need to realise that this is it, this is what our lives are really all about. We couldn't ever feel this without suffering, though. Still, I wish we could all feel it before we die, and maybe in time, we all will.
HiveQu33n copy here. It is rare for me to read, watch, hear, or feel which bring me to a minute moment of transcendence. For example, the movie to which this masterpiece is a star. I therefore assume that little by little, crumbs by crumbs, something bigger than we are, or maybe us collectively, is revealing some truth we oaught to know, or we ought to be.
Clouds are the only presence on the planet that does not respond to a geometric coordinated pattern just like emotions. The cloud atlas is such a inspiring attempt at offering a logic to it all.
I love how the official song is called "Cloud Atlas Sextet" and it has six parts to it (well 7 parts, but the last part is just a refrain of the beginning), each building off the previous part with ever increasing complexity, just like the movie :)

Whenever I hear this tune it eradicates the stress from my brain and I feel...I feel...I feel...like I am floating in the sky!!!...With no one to disturb me...and I can say that this is the Song From My Dreams!!!
When I first heard this song in this video, I was just starting out my education career. 11 years later, I'm about to finish my post grad degree, and as I'm writing my last assignment, this version of the song is still a pivotal part of me. Still something that reminds me of hours and hours of dedicated talent, work, and determination, both by the musician and by me. Thanks for uploading this 11 years ago and thanks for being a part of my education journey.
I live with some friends who only listen to loud hip hop and rap mu... (I deleted the word "music"). I like to listen to wonders such as this everytime I'm being creative (which is often). While they're listening to beats and lyrics about spending money and bitches, I succumb to this kind of profound, meneangful, beautiful music, thinking how much they miss in life, how unfortunate they are to be grounded in the most tangible layers of existence, unable to trully listen, see and feel. Not that I'm any better from other points of view, but at least this music and its kind pushed me to start so many ambitious projects (like complex board games and endless series of books) while many people I know just live their life one day at a time, with nothing to remember and nothing to pass on, show and being represented by. Long live beautiful music!
“I believe death is only a door. One closes, and another opens. If I were to imagine heaven, I would imagine a door opening. And he would be waiting for me there.”
That's why I alway loved getting into new places opening doors...Also in the Matrix when you open a door you enter another dimension and place...My dream..
As Beautiful as the original soundtrack orchestra. Still moves the heart. Does this song make anyone else cry buckets? As it builds in layers my eyes well up to the point where I can barely see the screen.

I've read loads of books. Some better than Cloud Atlas, some worse. But I haven't read many passages like Robert Frobisher's letters in Cloud Atlas. They were the best thing about the book, without a shadow of a doubt. They will leave you with nothing but pure raw emotion. I bet they'll touch anyone with a soul. The movie didn't do them justice.
