“Sixsmith. I climb the steps of the Scot monument every morning and all becomes clear. Wish I could make you see this brightness. Don't worry, all is well. All is so perfectly, damnably well. I understand now that boundaries between noise and sound are conventions. All boundaries are conventions, waiting to be transcended. One may transcend any convention if only one can first conceive of doing so. Moments like this, I can feel your heart beating as clearly as I feel my own, and I know that separation is an illusion. My life extends far beyond the limitations of me.”

Maybe we are all from a God who wants to teach himself consciousness. After all, who could teach him if not himself since he's a unique being ? The only way would be, I guess, to create an experience where he is not omnipotent or omniscient and learn from his mistakes. Just a theory though, maybe something else entirely.

You cannot truly appreciate this piece unless you absolutely understand the story that is expressed repeatedly in the melody. The Cloud Atlas Sextat is a musical mirror or version, if you will, of what we are all born with and all have the ability to...actually listen to our hearts, our gut feelings, our first instincts. That millisecond when we want to help before we judge, care before we kill and love before we hate.

I wish we all had more faith and compassion toward our immortal selves. The everlasting light that never fades, even when plunged into darkness and despair. But we let our egos wrest control from the self, and we let ourselves be led astray. We fail to listen to our brightest, most brilliant voice. When our soul shines with kindness and compassion for our fellow souls, we need to realise that this is it, this is what our lives are really all about. We couldn't ever feel this without suffering, though. Still, I wish we could all feel it before we die, and maybe in time, we all will.

I live with some friends who only listen to loud hip hop and rap mu... (I deleted the word "music"). I like to listen to wonders such as this everytime I'm being creative (which is often). While they're listening to beats and lyrics about spending money and bitches, I succumb to this kind of profound, meneangful, beautiful music, thinking how much they miss in life, how unfortunate they are to be grounded in the most tangible layers of existence, unable to trully listen, see and feel. Not that I'm any better from other points of view, but at least this music and its kind pushed me to start so many ambitious projects (like complex board games and endless series of books) while many people I know just live their life one day at a time, with nothing to remember and nothing to pass on, show and being represented by. Long live beautiful music!

Best Cloud Atlas Sextet interpretation I have ever listened to. Every time I listen to it, I have goosebumps. But this version... Your version has so much more. It's like an illumination or a sudden realisation of life.

The music- this music, it finds its way into your soul, and it stays there. Oh how I love that film. The love, it is truly beautiful and talks of boundlessness.

I heard this music in a dream, I was underground, long dead, but there was a cafe where all the waitresses wore the same face. This tune was playing there, a fragile, crystal refrain on a bad radio.

I understand now, that boundaries between noise and sound are conventions. All boundaries are conventions, waiting to be transcended. One may transcend any convention, if only one can first conceive of doing so. Moments like this, I can feel your heart beating as clearly as I feel my own, and I know that separation is an illusion. My life extends far beyond the limitations of me. - Robert Frobisher

I've read loads of books. Some better than Cloud Atlas, some worse. But I haven't read many passages like Robert Frobisher's letters in Cloud Atlas. They were the best thing about the book, without a shadow of a doubt. They will leave you with nothing but pure raw emotion. I bet they'll touch anyone with a soul. The movie didn't do them justice. For anyone who is reading this comment, I urge you to read the book, or at least Robert Frobisher's letters. You'll love them.

I got the book but I saw nothing separate about letters.
