Mary Macmaster is a Scottish Harper who is known for her pioneering work with both the wire strung clàrsach and the Camac electroharp. She has worked with harp duo ‘Sileas’ with Patsy Seddon, the all-female traditional folk band ‘The Poozies’, and with percussionist Donald Hay, and many more renowned musicians in her extensive career. Mary’s integral role in the development of Scottish music was recognised in 2013 when she was inducted, alongside Patsy Seddon, into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. In this conversation Mary shares stories of how it all began and talks about some highlights of her career, including working with Sting and participating in the ‘Songs of Separation’ project.
