Don't know if you know Chadwick Boseman's story buy its absolutely amazing. I truly do believe he was one of God miracles put on this earth to change it and even if he didn't change it as much as he could while he was here, he planted seeds for children in the future to change it. even when I think of famous quotes from other really famous actors, I think of Boseman. "To live... to live would be an awfully big adventure." -Peter Pan, Hook (Robin Williams). and "Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" -Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Richard Harris). Boseman really lived these quotes. Even knowing he was dying of cancer he never told anyone yet still found it in himself to not only finish the film but spent countless hours of his life doing meet and greets at hospitals for sick kids. he was just all around, simply an amazing person.
Black Panther and Thor Ragnarok are the ones I saw the most in theaters because I just couldn’t believe how amazing they were and for COMPLETELY different reasons.
What? I don't love Thor but Ragnarok is like Da vinci's gioconda in comparison to this ugly senseless movie. And also the pandering is just... Ugh. Don't bring fucking politics in marvel movies, especially if you suck at portraying them
Chadwick Bozeman's death really made people stop and examine the way they talk shit about people online. For almost a year before his death folks were claiming he was a drug addict the way he was falling asleep in interviews or losing so much weight. The people who were trying to be "nice" were speculating that he was doing it for a movie role, but no one thought he might be sick and dying. He faced all of that with so much courage and bravery. He never even told his friends what was going on with him.
It's not being nice to try to explain weightloss. You should check out Christian Bale in The Machinist. The point is that nobody assumes a person is dying. That man was 43. That is not a common age to have your life come to an end
@@allantidgwell5624 Especially not when you're in as great a shape as Chadwick was, in his movie appearances. At no point did I look at that actor and think: "Dead man walking."
Not sure if you remember, but Ulysses Klaue, the guy with the robot hand (voice and motion capture actor for Gollum), was in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was in his landlocked boat thing that Ultron showed up and took his vibranium stores and cut off his hand.
Don't know if you recognized him, but the elder statesman Zuri was Forest Whitaker. He was the angry football player in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", and he was also in "Rogue One", the stand-alone Star Wars film that comes right before Episode IV in the saga. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe, for the title role in "Bird", which was the story of legendary jazz sax player Charlie Parker. It's a bit difficult to watch but well worth it.
20:11 Killmonger wasn't talking about his sister, he said "Zuri", which was the guy (played by Forest Whittaker) that he killed before he fought T'challa and threw him over the waterfall, also the guy that T'challa's father sent to America to spy on his brother.
In case no one else has suggested it, you may want to split your Infinity War reaction into two videos, like a lot of other reactors do. It's a BIG movie, with a lot of reaction worthy moments. Same goes for Endgame.
Also, you might not want to wait a week to see Endgame after you see Infinity war but you need to watch Captain Marvel and Ant-man and The Wasp before you watch Endgame. I suggest you do like a two week Marvel marathon.
Black Panther is definitely top tier Marvel. Like you said, gorgeous & complex & great action & all the creativity. The MUSIC. I just love this movie & was sure you would, too. Honestly, watching people reacting just to the TRAILERS for BP (esp poc) left me in tears. It was such a celebration. Representation/excellence. Just so much to love! OMG. I just looked at release order again and see that Infinity War is next. Can't wait. You should probably split your reaction into 2 parts. Many reactors do that. Infinity War is a LOT.
Little tidbits for you Ashleigh: -Robot arm man was the arms dealer guy who got his arm sliced by Ultron. -CIA guy we were introduced to in Civil War, but it's easy to miss that because he doesn't do much but deliver some snark to Cap and Falcon in that movie.
Hey Ashleigh & Beans! I've been looking forward to this one. The director, Ryan Coogler, is from Oakland. He also directed Creed in the Rocky series, starring Michael B. Jordan.
I loved this movie but didn't realize how much I loved it until Chadwick died. I saw it in the theater, the next time I saw it was a commercial-free special on ABC after his death followed by a documentary about him. So sad. He and I have the same birthday too (Nov. 29). I also learned in that special that Chadwick and Michael B. Jordan were close friends who knew each other for a long time, so that makes this movie so much more special knowing those guys were close. On another note, I just found out N'Jobu (T'Challa's uncle, Killmonger's dad) was played by Sterling K. Brown. I know Ashleigh's a fan of the American Crime Story series and he played Christopher Darden in The People Vs. OJ Simpson. And I can only appreciate Ashleigh's love for Angela Bassett. I love that lady. Watch "What's Love Got to Do With It" sometime, Angela's amazing in it.
I never drew that connection either. I don't watch the Walking Dead, but I've seen tons of Michonne images over the years, and I can't believe I missed this.
Grace Jones was a model/actress/singer who blew open the doors back in the 80's. Since Hallowbeans is coming may I recommend the movie Vamp in which she stars. Excellent 80's vampire movie.
The shaman, Zuri, was played by Forest Whitaker, who you just saw in Fast Times as the football player with the car that Spicoli destroyed. Also, the one-armed Klauw got his arm chopped off in Civil War. He is played by Andy Serkis of the Lord of the Rings movies, where he plays Gollum.
Forest Whitaker has been an A list actor, director producer for 40 years. Last King of Scotland - he won Best Actor Oscar. Andy Serkis goes down as one of the greatest character and voice actors in history. They were not playing when they cast this movie.
Grace Jones is a music artist who came onto the scene in 1973, and probably had her biggest fame in the late 70's and 80's. Genre-wise, she hit disco, new wave, art pop, r&b, and reggae.
Hey, Ashleigh, just to help you look at the timeline, this takes place AFTER the post-credits scene of CIVIL WAR, and after Bucky had been frozen in Wakanda. The biggest thing showing that, aside from Bucky being unfrozen at the end here, is a quick Shuri one-line I think you missed at 12:15 of this video. When they're bringing Ross into her lab, Shuri said "Great! Another broken white boy for us to fix!" She was talking about Bucky.
Ashleigh, you are by far the most fun to watch of all the videos I have seen since beginning this journey! Your sense of humor is great and some of your commentary is hilarious. This coupled with your intellect and appreciation of good cinema make you my favorite reaction video host. Thanks so much for the FUN!!
(1) This movie is very good! (2) "Who is Grace Jones?" Listen to the song I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect for You), Watch the Eddie Murphy movie Boomerang, the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Conan the Destroyer, James Bond: A View to a Kill.
"WE need help from THEM!" - When Ashleigh accidentally stumbles into Killmonger's point (and what makes him such a compelling villain) minutes into the reaction and doesn't even know it.
I still can't watch Civil War, Black Panther, Infinity War & Endgame now without that undercurrent of sadness knowing that Chadwick is gone from our midst. I lost my Mom to colon cancer shy of her 57th birthday, so I know what the disease and the treatments do to a person. How he managed to continue filming while fighting the cancer is nothing short of inspiring. RIP Mr. Bozeman.
Black Panther's disappearance, at the end of "Infinity War," is so symbolic now for what actually happened to the actor, that it genuinely makes me tear up.
This was a rare live appearance by Andy Serkis. Usually he does motion capture stuff, like Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" and Caesar in the "Planet of the Apes" reboots. I think he was also King Kong in Peter Jackson's version of the movie (and also had a live role in that movie).
He also played Klaw in Avengers: Age of Ultron. That's where he lost his arm. That's also the first mention of Wakanda, which Bruce had serious trouble pronouncing. :)

When this movie came out, I bought out the theater so my old elementary school could take the kids and they could see a marvel hero that looked like them. WAKANDA FOREVER!
@@oliverconway6960 I owed them that! We don't realize how powerful it is to see some of yourself in your heroes. I've been a BP fan since I was a kid & NEVER thought I'd see the day he would be on the big screen in his own movie. Those kids faces were worth way more than tickets! 🥰😭
I remember going in to see this, it felt like something to watch while counting down the days until Infinity War came out a few months later. This was so amazing, I saw it in theaters three more times.
The fact that you asked who Grace Jones is made me feel so old Okoye is Michonne though yes Wakandan technology is perhaps a little ahead of Stark, but it's thanks mainly to the versatility of Vibranium. If Tony had Vibranium he'd probably be able to make as much but in his own style, just like Shuri makes things her own way. It's a great shame we didn't get more Chadwick in the MCU
Grace Jones was a musician/model/actor from the 80's who did some songs and was in Conan The Destroyer (1984) I think with Arnold Schwarzenegger. This film in the MCU was one of a kind. Great film. RIP Mr. Boseman. You will always be the Black Panther.
Prince Namor! I'm doubly psyched, because the guy playing Namor also played the bad guy in one of my favorite Mexican horror movies, Tigers Are Not Afraid. That's a movie a lot like Night of the Living Dead. It's bleak but you won't be sorry you watched it, and I hope it gets more attention after the new Black Panther movie comes out.
I'm more hyped for Namor finally getting a big screen presence. Character predates Marvel Comics just like Captain America and even was the first superhero to fly in comics before Superman. They're taking a Mesoamerican approach, probably to separate the Marvel Atlantis from the DC Aquaman Atlantis because that cinematic universe is a damn mess.
@@gspendlove And in perfect Black Panther fashion, the Namor Atlanteans will be based off of Pre-Aztec cultures of the North and Mezo-American Gulf Coast. Once again highlighting the richness of cultures people just don't celebrate enough.
In his short career, the man played T'Challa, Jackie Robinson, James Brown, and Thurgood Marshall. Talk about leaving a cultural legacy. God knows how many great performances we missed out on by losing him so young. R.I.P.
And oddly Michael B. Jordan AND Chris Evans appeared in Marvel films before, both of them playing the same character, Johnny Storm of The Fantastic Four.

I was surprised that you knew Angela Bassett but didn't know Forest Whitaker. I was so glad to see both of them in this movie. But thinking about it, I don't think you've encountered Forest Whitaker before on the channel. Have a great weekend. I'm looking forward to your thoughts after watching Fight Club.
Oh, I saw on UA-cam somewhere some interviews with people who'd just finished seeing this in the theater, being asked what they thought of it, and in the middle of their questions, Mr. Bozeman would emerge from behind a curtain and greet them...it was wonderful to watch their responses.
@@jean-paulaudette9246 I think that was on Jimmy Fallon? It was AWESOME! ETA: I just watched it again. My favorite thing about it is that he greets every single person as if they are his oldest & bestest friends. ❤
Black Widow has a solo film that came out after Avengers: Endgame, but takes place before Infinity War. Though, it has a post-credit scene that would be a big spoiler.
In case you missed it, Klaue (with the robot hand played by Andy Serkis) is the same guy who lost his arm in Age of Ultron, when he sold vibranium to the genocidal robot. Also, absorbing kinetic energy isn't because of technology Shuri added to the suits, it's an innate property of the metal vibranium. Remember back in the first Captain America movie when Steve Rogers first picked up the shield, Howard Stark told him that vibranium was "stronger than steel, a third the weight, and completely vibration absorbent." And in the first Avengers movie when Thor, Iron Man and Captain America were all fighting, Thor hit the shield with his hammer and the kinetic energy was reflected, leveling the forest... that's what vibranium does naturally. Shuri's tech upgrades allowed the vibranium Panther suits to store kinetic energy so it could be released later, on-demand.
This was the first and to date only Marvel film nominated for Best Picture and it won Oscars for: Best Score, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design. The only gripe I have about the film is the final fight between T'Challa and Killmonger should not have been with the Vibranium Suits under ground and instead above ground against that beautiful sun. Also T'Challa was not just in the beginning of Civil War he was in throughout the film, chasing Bucky, fighting at the airport with Iron Man against Captain's team and even stopped Zemo from offing himself saying "There has been enough bloodshed".
You might not recognize his real face, but Klaue is actually Andy Serkis, the actor/voice of Gollum, so that might be fun to keep in mind when you watch The Two Towers! Also, Martin Freeman (CIA agent) plays Bilbo in the Hobbit movies.
This is definitely one of the best MCU movies. You're about to see another of the best with Infinity War and one of the most fun ones with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Be prepared to cry though. Like a lot. Like a lot a lot. Also RIP Chadwick Boseman
Have to disagree Antman and the Wsap is fun but definitely one of the bottom half of the marvel movies. I like Black Panther aloot oand I love the character of Shuri. With that said It's still a vary overrated and over hyped movie.
When I went to see this, it was a special premiere at the British Film Institute, a few days before the main release. It was an amazing night; this film was a real cultural event, simply on account of it not just a black lead blockbuster, not just with a majority black cast, but one that truly had real resonance with that audience, and I could feel that seeing the reaction of so many other viewers there (I'm white by the way... so in a way, for that night I was the token minority in that audience!). In fact, this film really helped put a lot of attention towards a sort of movement in fiction called Afrofuturism, which is basically high concept sci-fi filtered through an lens of African culture. It's still one of my favourites of the MCU, Chadwick is a legend. Oh, and I'm also surprised you didn't mention the fact that Andy Serkis is back after Age of Ultron.
Technically this is Marvel’s second movie where the lead is a Black character. Before the MCU started, there was the day walking vampire Blade, played by Wesley Snipes who kills vampires. There are two good Blade movies. There is a third movie, Blade Trinity, but it was very good.. MCU has the rights to this character now and Marshala Ali will be playing the character. Blade is a vampire whose mother was raped by a vampire. That is why. He is a day walker and he uses a serum to keep his bloodlust at bay.

Wakanda has had access to a supermaterial for a very long time, and managed to make a lot from it. Tony Stark began his super-tech journey in a cave...with a box of scraps. If Tony had gotten to go to Wakanda and work with Shuri, they probably could've made shit together that would've given humanity an insurmountable advantage over even the gods. But even though people don't like to admit it, Tony is smarter. He just didn't have an almost endless source of a natural supermaterial to juice up all of his development.

Ugh. Don't bring fucking politics in marvel movies, especially if you suck at portraying them
I loved Ragnarok, wasn't as much of a fan of Black Panther

Andy Serkis.
KLAW survived and went on to direct Venom 2: let there be carnage

@@mikelarsen5836 hey, what's with the shitty comment?
Andy Serkis is an amazing actor, he played countless animated characters and brings such emotion to their faces.
Also in Good Morning, Vietnam!

That comment will be totally beyond the reactor's comprehension.
The whole cast is black, except for these Tolkien white guys

RIP Chadwick. Wonderful actor and a hero to us all.
Grace Jones had a few hit records in the eighties. Check out the song Slave To The Rhythm.
Little tidbits for you Ashleigh:
-Robot arm man was the arms dealer guy who got his arm sliced by Ultron.
Jordan.
He did not direct Creed 2.
@@Hibbs4Prez thanks. Corrected.
We need to get Ashleigh through the rest of Rocky, so she can get to Creed!
9:07 no, he wasn't attacking her gender, he called her "a child" he saw her as immature.
I'm so glad you laughed over M'Baku's vegetarian joke, that's the one that really got me and nobody ever includes it in their reactions, lol.
Today I Learned: that Okoye was played by the actress who played Michonne. I never realized that.
Age of Ultron actually.
He's also Cesar in the Apes movies, Andy Serkis
Forest Whitaker has been an A list actor, director producer for 40 years. Last King of Scotland - he won Best Actor Oscar. Andy Serkis goes down as one of the greatest character and voice actors in history. They were not playing when they cast this movie.
ZURI was a stand in for ZABU in the LION king.
@@MichaelJohnson-vi6eh It took a big company like Disney with a lot of money to be able to fix Whitaker's eye.
Grace Jones is a music artist who came onto the scene in 1973, and probably had her biggest fame in the late 70's and 80's. Genre-wise, she hit disco, new wave, art pop, r&b, and reggae.
Knowing what we know now about Chadwick Bosemans fighting cancer while filming these films makes them hit different on rewatch
The chap with the hair and robot hand is Andy Serkis. He was in age of ultron, which is where he lost the appendage. He was also the voice of gollum

Opening weekend for this movie was insane, $192 million opening weekend, $1.34 billion total box office.
Deserved!
I went opening weekend and the projector in the theater screwed up and they had to refund our money. So I had to wait 2-3 days later to see it.
Lol.. still a crap movie.
@@EdSigma Not really. It's a mid-level MCU film with shockingly bad CGI and a pretty weak, plothole-riddeen story.

Yes he was Kong and the chef on the boat named Lumpy.
He also played Klaw in Avengers: Age of Ultron. That's where he lost his arm. That's also the first mention of Wakanda, which Bruce had serious trouble pronouncing. :)

Okoye is Michonne though yes
Wakandan technology is perhaps a little ahead of Stark, but it's thanks mainly to the versatility of Vibranium. If Tony had Vibranium he'd probably be able to make as much but in his own style, just like Shuri makes things her own way.
It's a great shame we didn't get more Chadwick in the MCU
Yes! Also due to Shuri herself as an inventor bc many say she is even smarter than Tony

This film was a massive international hit earning $1.3 billion. It was the first superhero film up for Best Picture.
If you like Angela Bassett, you should check out the movie Strange Days.
I've never gotten over the scream she let out near the end of that movie.
She's also awesome on the TV show 9-1-1.
Oh I just hope during hallowbeans that you do Scream 2. It’s one of the best sequels ever made and there are moments that might make you cry.
Grace Jones is a black singer with a shaved head. Excellent music

This was the first and to date only Marvel film nominated for Best Picture and it won Oscars for:
Best Score,
Best Costume Design, and
Best Production Design.
Klaw, the guy with the arm was in Age of Ultron, where Ultron cuts off his arm when Klaw mentions Stark.
Oh - Ashley, you talked over one of the best jokes (and foreshadowing) in the movie - go back to 12:18 (in the UA-cam release) and watch again :D

Infinity War should be next. Get ready.
