After Bon when they changed up the sound with Brian the tempo slowed down on some tracks but they got heavier in sound and subject matter. In the moment they were heavy metal and that shouldn't change just because metal evolved. Breaking Ben on the other hand where barely hard rock for their time at debut compared to the sound of other bands coming up at the same time. AC/DC is one of the bands that helped pave the way forward for metal, hard rock, thrash and punk all while sounding unique not once but twice. By this logic Black Sabbath is a blues band.

Keep in mind that the metal genre has existed the late 60s, but the sound of modern metal didn't really exist, at least with any prominence, until like the late 80s/early 90s (I'll give as early as the mid 80s depending on where your line is)
What's the metal to non metal percentage for a band to be considered metal? If they usually make pop but they make one metal song are they a metal band? Does it have to be at least half? What if a metal band decides to make a pop song? The term "metal band" is so subjective that anyone could have a different answer.
I would guess it would probably be that a majority of the music they make is derived from or more similar to metal than any other genre but that line is obviously subjective.
