Konica Toner Wont Empty Out Bottles, Lets Fix it With the Soldering Iron

- My Konica Minolta C3070 Accuriopress stopped working. Toner would not empty out and it told me to replace the toner bottles. The solution was not what I expected. I thought that a dirty sensor was the problem but thanks to a viewer I was told to check out the ICP that supplies power to the toner motors. Sure enough the ICP 3 was blown and needed a jumper soldered onto the printer control board. I am glad its back up and running 20 minutes later! This fix is likely applicable to other Konica machines such as c2070, c1070, and ICP's can also be repaired on the c6500, c8000, c1085, c1100 and more.
There's no question you are awesome. I used to be able to do printed circuit boards, but I can't see them now. your videos are so encouraging. I sincerely hope you can continue ro do so for a long time. Thank you Dan.
Hello Daniel,
The ICP you need is the ICP-S 1.0A but if you want it to support a little more you can put the ICP-S 1.2.
The repair you have done temporarily seems fine to me, but if you have an overload the PRCB will definitely break down and it will be more expensive around 400$.
I hope I helped you
Best Regards
Toni from Spain
Yes, that is awesome. I need to find ICP's and keep them on hand. Thank you!
Hi Antonio. How can I get in touch with you?
We have replaced one on a Ricoh board. Soldered on an automotive fuse holder and used small glass tube fuses. So when it blows again, it's only a matter of twisting the holder open to swap in a new fuse.
I always get nervous before you turn the machines on when you do stuff like that too lol. It's always a great feeling when you fix something and can get back into production.
Agreed, I sleep like a baby after a machine is up and running again. LOL!
Being able to work with what you have on hand and MacGyver a field fix like that is one of the marks of a skilled tech with a good head on their shoulders. I also appreciate that you acknowledge that the ICP blew for a reason, and a more permanent fix should be found... Please do follow up on this, and don't just run on that jumper forever because it happens to work as-is. Great video!
Agreed, I'll update you all on the future correct repair.
@@justaprinter I hope your work will be successful, so it will help you save some money in the interim. So far, I am enjoying watching your shows. I hope your shop will be humming once more with all the machines running at once.
Hi, I enjoy watching all your video and that was a good temporary fix. That ICP chip not only indicates when your toner needs to be replaced but also how much toner is feed into the toner hopper. I'm a Konica Minolta production tech from California if you ever have questions on any issue that you can't find an answer to please feel free to reach out. To get the ICP replaced I recommend using a company like Hytech they are a Konica Minolta board repair company and they are not expensive.
Good
Yes, Hytech is where I would send it if I want the actual repair, however I', now curious if I can track down some ICP components.
@@justaprinter let me get back to you on Monday with an answer.
Hi Juan,i'm having problem on the Carriage Slide Rail of C1070,any idea how to fix them.something is blocking when i push back the carriage after i pull out.
@@juancast50 how can I get in touch with you?
Your engineering skills come in handy like my keyboarding skills are very helpful to me.👍
That they do!
@@justaprinter Thank you for tapping or typing to me.
I agree with HYTECH.. Very reputable and knowledgeable group... Was thinking of them when you were talking about board repair..
Yup, thats where I would send a board.
HYTECH is where we get our boards from also. I believe even Konica will send HYTECH repaired boards from warranty repair.
Konica generally warranties their machines for I think 3 years also.
I have a Accurio 2060 that’s treating me really good. I do however miss my old Bizhub 6501. Nice work soldering your jumper Dan
Good to hear. Thanks!
There is a bulletin on this issue. You have to replace the PRCB. And if that don't work then you also have to replace the toner bottle clutch.
Yes, PRCB fixed it for me.
you are fantastic. In Vietnam, our workers do not know how to repair such machines, but they will disassemble another machine and replace components for the damaged machine. i'm also using konica laser printer now, i'm really tired of it because i don't have as much knowledge as you and the repair support people here are terrible
Sorry to hear your support people are bad.

May I ask your contact to ask you some errors?
Clean and re-tin your soldering tool!
Thanks for the tip. I will do that. I'm always trying to find out how I can better myself.
you should replace the ICP plus use your meter to read the current drawn when the unit is being operated. The ICP would have blown for a reason.
Yup, pretty sure the motor is bad. It stopped working again.
Thank you mate your confident make me want to own a.konica minolta 3070
It's not always easy, but its always an adventure!
Really, thank you very much for your videos, which have helped me a lot personally; I would like to ask you a question, I have a konica press 1060, which for a week what the photographs are, the gradients do not take out dim, they are cut off, I do not know if you understand me, or I do not know how I will be able to communicate with you ; Thank you very much in advance… from Machala, Ecuador.
I don;t understand maybe if you email me a photo of the problem I might be able to help. justaprinterman@gmail.com
Well, it is a good thing you know that this is scatchy at best, however, it is not just fire you have to be worried about. You did say you're nervous when swiching thing on after such a repair and here's why. A blown fude, as you say, indicates a fault, bypassing the fuse can cause fire but unlikely. However, main problem with bypasing fuses is that the next component down the line could withold more heat and power going through it, as a result, if that component gives up, you can end up with a burneout hole that renders the whole board unfixable(beyond economical repair). Although if buying a new board is not a problem and your electrical panel is not wired by you in the same manner, you've got nothing to fear when operating of swiching these devices on.
Good point. I need to track down ICP's, but I have not had luck yet.
You could replace it with a replaceable fuse holder and have a correct rated fuse in there, It blew for a reason and it's there to protect another part or parts. But this you know. I bypassed a fuse the same way on a motherboard and 3 weeks later it started to heat other components around the area and caught fire(just as well I was there it looks bad for a fireman (me) having to call the fire service to his house lol). Enjoy your videos keep it up, I have a konica c6000 would be interested to know what one you replaced on your 6500?
Good point. On the c6500 it was an ICP located on a board on the duplex unit. Located on the right side when you pull it out. I forget what it was doing.
Good stuff! And I'll agree with the others that Hytech is good to go.
A lot of people really like them! :)
I am in Toshiba copier sales. I have never even heard of anyone trying to diagnose and resolve that problem that way before. Certainly, this procedure invalidated any warranty.
I bought this machine last year privately. Put about 1 million clicks through itso far.
Can you give me a tip on a double fold on Right Angle...its a MOB. My first fold on the first unit is great (11x17 to 8.5 x 11)but when it goes through the right angle folder for a second fold (to 5.5) it always folds slightly in not perfectly straight (push out). Thanks
@John Taylor. Are you using a creasing disc/wheel on the slitter shafts at the exit of the first folding station? You need the creaser to "groove" the paper at the position of the crossfold. Don't forget that the inside leaf and outside leaf of the 4pp first fold are still "attached". So you need to weaken/pre-stress the two plies of paper to achieve folding accuracy. And always remember to run the second station at least 25% slower than the first station. Run the job and keep reducing the second station speed until you get a 50mm/2 inch space between the copies. Good luck!
I can think of three possible adjustments. Either the stop is not square, the registration feeding the paper into the plate is not square. Or the roller pressure is uneven. Hope that helps!
@John Taylor. Was the advice/tips given here any use to you?
@@markmiwurdz202 I am scoring it first. I checked roller pressure too but still does it. I will try the 25% slower than the first station next time. Thanks for the help!
@John Taylor. Thanks for your reply. Could it be that you were cross folding a 4pp. portrait leaflet against the grain (to fit an envelope/display rack/ point of sale box etc.)? You could try fitting 2 creasing discs in the same knife boss to make a wider crease line and really "break' the grain. You just have to carefully adjust the rounded edges of the counter knives to prevent the lead edge of the 4pp from splitting.
You may already know this tip to check if your creaser positions line up with your folds. With the machine running carefully just "touch" the creasing disc with a dark coloured wax crayon. The wax will "write" a line on the paper. So when folded you will be able to see if your crease line and fold position are together or need adjusting. To remove the wax, stop the machine and wipe it off with a strong tissue/cloth while winding the machine over by hand. Good luck! Stay safe and well.
Bro I love the vids this is awesome
Glad to hear!
Dan, at least you feel guilty of doing repair job that way.... You should have few resistor type fuses of 1, 1.5, 1.8, 2, 2.5 amps. Quite cheap and better than burning the driver IC's and PCB's...... Good luck.
Yes I need to track some down. But then I would need to figure out what amp to use as a replacement too.
@@justaprinter we are here to advice... 🧐
@@justaprinter check if you can read part no on icp. Normally it's rating of current or an alpha et that can be decoded to corresponding current rating.
Well that is good to know on that 6500. Btw fixed the crooked printing issue.
Oh nice! How did you fix it!?
When do you consider a machine 'done'? I'm currently running out of parts on the parts machine's parts machine and I feel like that's probably the point to call it quits. Too bad there's no good replacement for that machine available.
I would find another parts machine.
What machine is it, if you dont mind me asking?
@@JonJonNeddo Fuji fp232b film processor and Fuji sp1500 scanner/printer controller both in the same situation.
I have heard of people buying up old machines for situations like this where there is no replacement. Buy every machine you can get your hands on.
@@justaprinter the 4th machine is already paid for and pending delivery, but it's not a good long term solution.
Any idea can find second hand used machines like 1060 , 2070 , 3080 ?
tbccopiers.com/ or ebay, marketplace. For me it has been word of mouth.
good
Thanks!
hey dan I have a C1070 and printing heavy papers like 300gsm will missfed always do you have any tips to solve it ? thanks
Are you 2-side printing?
I see this from time to time on my 100lb uncoated. Typically the paper is curled a bit in one direction. Turn the paper over and try again. Or lower air settings.
Bur please think about to not jumper it but replace the protection with the correct protection
Do you know where I can purchase ICP components? I have searched online and found nothing.
@@justaprinter can you make a good picture of the ICP? And get the sizes and markings?

How are you handling the Toner issue? My suppliers are all out for my c1060,
I have been stocking up and buying as much as I can find. Hoping we don't all run out!
Konica Minolta is saying end of December at the soonest. At least that’s what they are hoping for anyway. I think it’s wishful thinking personally. In all reality, I don’t think they have a true answer because no one has any clue on when or how this shipping crisis will be remedied. My school systems are running out now, with non coming anytime soon. Good luck to us all!
Nice field repair by the way. Still always makes me cringe when a ICP blows. Something popped it. One of the delivery clutch’s maybe be failing. Time will tell.

Thanks!
I’m a certified Konicaminolta technician for 20 years I don’t recommend customers or users to fix technical problem other than removing paper jams. Always use expertise of company techs for quick troubleshooting . For other info, we don’t just dig in hardware troubleshooting unless we do programming verification first using simulations mode of parts functionality. That is temp fix, the problem is not yet resolve. Find the solution why the icp fuse blown?
Agreed, if I don't find the actual problem it will just reappear.
直接飞线容易烧主板,还是尽快更换保险的好
