8 years ago I watched this incredible speedrun and felt that I wanted to experience this amazing world. Today I finished Shenmue II and am taking it full circle by watching the run again. While the games showed their age and the PC port was unstable it was a great experience and I'm so thankful for the runner showing me this game.
I felt so bad for the dude. There was like 15 people there and 4 of them HAD to be there. Must've been SUPER awk for this guy I also love this man's humor

Nice speed run. I'm currently working on the world record for 100% of Shenmue 2. I got Space Harrier, Outrun, and Hang on down. All I need is Afterburner...and yes I'm including all of the capsule toys.
I'd love for this to some out on PC. Such a fascinating and beautiful game. I saw some of my friends playing the first one and it just looked.. like something really special.
Yuanda Zhu and Zhu Yuanda, the reason for this is in China they say the first name first like we do which is where the second takes place. The first one takes place in Japan where its common practice to call someone by their last name more often.
I applaud you for beating the game so quick. It usually takes me 10-15 to beat the game. However, what I will say is this game isn't really designed to be played as a speedrun. It really is an experience that shouldn't be rushed. However, well played sir.
This is by far one of my favorite games. The story is so in depth. I wish we had more games like this still instead of silly competitive games taking over the gaming industry now but oh well life goes on. #MartialArtsFTW
Some. It does it via emulation, so the quality of the games varies from game to game. Some have horrible framerate issues, and some work almost perfectly. Some are not compatible.
I call shenangins, Puri_Puri! You only lied because you would have had to end the game and slink out with egg on your face and GDQ would ban you from future runs if you hadn't had that illegit save. Take the walk of shame, you backstabber. :p But to be fair, it's almost impossible to speed run the Shenmue series because they are the worst games ever, no fault on the designers as they didn't expect people to speed run this and didn't make it speed-run friendly.
I apologize for the outburst. I know you had a dead run so you had to do something to make up for it. I am so glad I decided never to play Shenmue - the story is nice but the gameplay is too slow.

Great run. It’s nice that both Shenmue 1 and 2 have been run at GDQ now, can’t wait for today’s Shenmue 1 run to be uploaded 😊

Strangely having the poor voice acting works for this game. Like I'm watching a badly dubbed move from Hong Kong.
It's part of the magic, believe me.
In prefer the Japanese voice acting.
And they kept it for Shenmue 3 aswell - it works so well. It's kind of silly but i couldn't imagine this game any other way.

From all of the runs i found this the best. I'm not really keen on the game in general but the glitches are interesting and really good explanations.
+typoko dude kinda grew on me after a while, he seemed pretty passionate about the game
