I am an american and let me say this, this is probably the most unique ans classiest opening ceremony ever of the modern olympics. It did not need too much spendin like what they did in Beijing to be showy and classy. Hats off to London and all the British people for a job well done in hosting the olympic games.
Absolutely brilliant. I was in the audience on the night and there is something about amateur video clips that make them even more emotional to watch than the official broadcast. Thanks for uploading.

It's amazing seeing it from a far out view - shows how much effort went into the whole process and how flawless the whole sequence moves. I feel overwhelmed whenever I watch it. I'm proud to be a Londoner! And this is the best part of the Opening ceremony for me :')
Just a reminder that 70% of everything ever invented was created in the UK. Britain built the modern world!!!!!! We have so much great history and the opening ceremony reminded the world what a amazing nation we live in!
I was one of 20,000 people watching this from Victoria Park, nearby. It was amazing to watch it there, so I can only imagine how neat it was to see it in the stadium.
The cauldrom lighting was the most inventive and inclusive way of doing it ever found, so far. the rest have all been the same cauldron shape and same single perosn method, even barcelona 9whci i enjoyed) was still one person lighting it.

I'm an American! No need to compare ANY Olympic opening ceremony because they were all epic and made history. China did a great job and London was good too so cheers to both countries for a job well done!
I do hope they release a DVD of this because the actual show works really well as a 'movie' rather than a theatrical piece.. simply it was so, so well directed... :)

Odd, because the closing really lacked any imagination whatso ever. It was just some modern music thrown together with no thought. Not keen on boy bands, but different people see different things I suppose. So, do you oly enjoy pop music then ?
it shows england as it was..... from lush green fields to hard working bitish... who built the empire and industries long gone.....i think we did great.. we showed the world. our country means buisiness. yet most of industries have gone.... to china...... etc..... we need our industries back......

The screens were visible but small from our point of view. You needed the screens to see the Mr. Bean segment, but everything else was visible.
