      @@blablabla1000able if you ever start doing paused rep on bench press, especially. I recommend shaving a LOT off your current bench press numbers. It's just like paused squats. It's much harder and VERY taxing on your elbow flexor tendons. Some people literally get their bicep tendon from elbow side or shoulder side TORN OFF from pausing or doing full range of motion.
      although before you get to literally tearing your tendons, you'll know it through pain (not muscle pain, and you'll know the difference when you feel it - usually the pain comes about a minute after you lift)

    I've been watching the channel for a while now and have been doing my best to replicate your form into my routine and appraise the results. However, only so much can be inferred from watching passive content. Could you one day do a form guide video, where you explain your grip ( like whether or not you try to 'bend' the bar out), position of bar relative to face, foot placement, at what point do you begin to drive your legs, etc? I think many of us would love a discrete, video, setup guide on your fabled bench!
    Great content in any case, keep it going!

    • @Nextgenenglish
      @Nextgenenglish 3 роки тому +20

      Try to find the best form that works for you and your body shape/type.
      Almost every top level powerlifter benches differently. You need to do as many reps as you can, and tweak things slowly until you find the position that is most comfortable for you, then stick with it, and work hard with long term consistency.
      If you try to copy other people too closely, the danger is that you might be making it more difficult for yourself, because their optimal setup is different to yours.
      Search UA-cam for "Roman Eremashvili". He competed at about the same weight as Long, but has a different setup.

      I’d say this, everyone built different! So choose the form that fits you best! Play around with it and find the sweet spot for you!
      But keep the basic fundamentals the same!
      For example,
      1,Bring your shoulders down and back. Im not saying to not MOVING your shoulders at all, but don’t move it too much.
      2, Try to OPEN up your chest! Be one of those dude who walking round with their chest up!
      3, Arch your back! VERY IMPORTANT! Not to ARCH TOO MUCH like some Powerlifters! But you need to arch to hit your CHEST!
      Why arch?
      Bcuz you need to create a TRI POD for the stability and POWER!
      What is a TRI POD?
      So when arching you will have your upper back rest on the bench for stability and power!
      Your Butts, CLING your butts on the Bench!
      And Foot on the ground PUSHIN! So 3 points!
      Upper back, Butt and foot!

    • @samreach2679
      @samreach2679 3 роки тому +2

      When you perform your bench, VERY IMPORTANT is to TAKE A FUCKING DEEP BREATH AND HOLD IT! Don’t let ANY AIR COME OUT! BRACE YOUR CORE!
      Lower the bar down and when pressin up,
      CLING YOUR BUTT and PUSH with your FOOT AND CHESTs!

    Yo Long, just a suggestion you should start doing 320lbs for 5 reps and 340lbs for 3 reps. I've seen your older videos, you seem to have been doing this weight for years now, and you have done 330lbs for 5 reps in the past. Considering you can do 375 here and there, you should start slowly increasing the weight on the bench again. A 5-pound increase probably won't make a huge difference with how fast your 315 and 335 goes. Hope to see you hit 4 plates again!

      @@jonathanasigri9487 with his body weight and that arm length. The weight of his benches are almost impossible to do. Goes without saying that the pyramid program that he created and the weight he pushes is almost at its peak. So if you say how can he progress if he lifts the same weight for years how does he progress? Bro the weight he lifts right now is already the progress he accomplished since he started lifting in high school. So yeah, he does not need to over exert himself. He already said in his vids that he's taking it slowly to avoid injuries. He does not care if he does not progress that fast. As long as he stays healthy.

      @@silvershieji2042 regardless of how fast or slow he wants to progress my point is if he really does want to progress he's gonna have to change his weight and rep schemes from time to time. One additional rep for once or going 5lbs heavier isn't gonna over exert him lol. Doing weight for same amount of reps each session for an extensive time isn't gonna get you anywhere regardless of amount of experience he has.
