I worked as a concrete carpenter for 30+ years; always had very high respect for the technical skill and the pure, raw strength and endurance of concrete workers. Seen a LOT of concrete work. Amazing transformation! The changes in the side walk are beautiful! I'm glad no one was hurt when the chute dropped. Tom's calm voice can guide the team through any mishap. A team of professional artisans at work!
I love watching people that take pride in their work, always brings a smile to my face and you guys make that look so easy! Wish more people work like you guys do and keep up the great work!
I have to say I never thought watching people pour concrete would be all that interesting, but it really is nice to see a crew with the right tools and knowledge the transformation possible. By the way you guys are getting pretty good at filming and editing showing the process. Great work Tom, you have one great crew. Jay from Pa.

Blocked Australian sewers getting cleaned will end up consuming a lot of your time. A lot of it is down to the person doing the filming/editing though, theres a knack to getting it right and Tom has hit that nail on the head too.
That finished smooth border around the brushed squared off area is really a sharp look. I saw the video you did of the backyard pool area and then you showed the driveway you did a few years earlier, it had the same style as this small driveway, but 10x's the size and it is absolutely beautiful! These homeowners are going to be the envy of their neighbors ... nice work!
I have seen lots on concrete poured in my time, and have worked with many contractors, but this I have to say is by far the nicest driveway pour to date! Excellent work!
I am so impressed with your attention to small details and the pride you and your team take in your workmanship. You seem to always be looking out for your customers interest. That’s the way it should be. I love your videos.
Very well done. You brought back buried memories of a project in the summer of 1970 my Squad did in Vietnam: hand digging, forming, hand mixing, pouring and troweling about 290 square feet 4" thick for an addition to one of our buildings. The bump out was never completed as the Division was withdrawn that fall. Makes my back ache just thinking about it. You guys are truly professionals.
I have watched a lot of people on UA-cam lay concrete and this is by far the nicest driveway I have ever seen. The fact you used a straight edge to cut in your lines just made my day. All these "pros" on here who talk a big game, have sloppy joints and it just bothers me to the core.

TOM, wanted to let you know, yesterday (Monday) got my deck/porch pad and steps poured, truck showed up at 7:05 the finishers crew of 5 were done with control joints, mag floated ,edged and pulling forms cleaning up and gone at 10:20 . It did go well, thanks for your channel and comments back about rebar layout, joint control and fiber crete! Greatly appreciated!!!
My only gripe, is that the subsurface wasn’t prepared. We all know that time and possibly money is always the issue. But where something has settled, just bringing it back to grade with more stone isn’t a fix. A new, real, compacted base should have been installed. But good lord, you and your crew are some of the VERY BEST concrete finishers I’ve ever seen. A big kudos to you guys!
Recommended from watching Victory Outdoor Services' UA-cam channel. I have to say, concrete pouring is like ASMR for me. It's very entertaining to watch!
Good work fellas. I was raised in a concrete family and I still pour all week. It's a great feeling leaving a job and being proud of what you left behind. It's an art that you have to love because it's definitely not easy work.
Beautiful work, it's nice to see people work together and have pride in what they do. Something that served me well was "Never get between anything moving, and something solid". It could be a crane load and the ground, truck and a wall, manlift and a ceiling. All that was missing was an Amazon Prime van driving up on the wet concrete to deliver something, or kids putting their initials in the concrete(Do people still do that?)!!
I'm not sure how this popped up on my UA-cam, but I'm glad it did. I used to pour concrete in my younger days and I have to say.... YOU GUYS ARE GOOD! Your work is absolutely beautiful.
After seeing a lot of concrete flat work being placed in over 20 years as an inspector on Civil projects, nice to see people who take pride in their job. You folks do nice work. It's a shame it will be covered up by parked cars. Something to consider if this job will see large seasonal fluctuations in temperature. The following are very rough numbers. Concrete will expand about 5/8" per 100' over 100 degree temperature change. While this might seem small when considered for smaller areas, that repetitive expansive force over time can do damage. If the concrete is continuous under the joint material, the concrete can not expand into the joint as it has nowhere to expand except to the outer edges. It might be a good control joint to better control cracking, but it won't act as an expansion joint (EJ). If you want to have a true EJ, the joint material must completely separate the concrete full depth. For this narrow of driveway that is unconfined to the sides, not much of an issue. It has room to expand. Those deep control joints should prevent shrinkage cracking. But if the distance between the house and the curb is over 20', a full depth EJ would best be installed. It looks like an EJ was installed against the house, which is also a great idea. If concerned about differential settling at EJs, it is best practice to cut the rebar spanning the joint to allow for the intended horizontal movement and put in slip dowels across the joint.
Really nice job! Lots of attention to detail: Pulling up the bar and mesh as you pour, the sod replacement on the left side of the driveway, the expansion joints in the clipped corners, all of it. Added to the esthetics of the home.
I drive a Rear discharge ready mix truck and we only have 3 attachment chutes for this reason plus after every season I rotate my first chute to the last because they get thinner as they wear out. Great video!!! You guys sure do great work. just subed : )

I never had one break on me in my near 15 years of driving a redi-mix truck, yeah just wear and tear, it looks like they added a 4th chute, which I never drove a front loaders, but the rears would never be more then 3 chutes, using a 4th was at your own peril.
Fun fact when the original Pa turnpike was built they used burlap to give the concrete a textured surface. That is some beautiful work, my grandfather would be inpressed. Lost count of how many times I watched and sometime helped him pour concrete. Helped him build a new barn back in the day and that was some intricate work.
Nice job! Gotta say, I’m most impressed by the amount of guys you used to pour it. A lot of contractors save money on labor, working their guys to death and providing inferior work in the process. I am disappointed in the fact that no kids left handprints! Lol
I work for a concrete company in central Pa and had the same thing happen to me and I didn’t have all the shutes on. People don’t realize how much weight is in those shutes. You were pouring about a 4-5 inch slump and the driver had his shutes up where there was not much slope. Something that would be nice to see is if you were to show people what a slump is. Be safe.
it has always cracked me up how the trades are so vertical that the phrase "not my job" is heard too often. I am referring the the mixer driver, that eventually gets out of the cab, choking on his cigarette, and plumbers butt crack pulling up his britches. And, of course, preparing to say "hey, I'm not picking up my chutes - not my fault, not my job". All that said, you guys have a good crew, good tools, and do great work!
