I was only able to print 44 compatible labels from a finished dymo labels paper of 500
Yeah, I don't think there is a way to hack it. People say they can but no one says how many they can print after it is empty. 44 is close to what I can do and then its trash.
Ok..I went ahead and buy dymo 450 that can use the compatibles...and return the 550 ( too much money for it label paper)

I had already bought my Dymo 550 before I realised that I couldn't use my non-Dymo labels. Your video was helpful because I just placed a full roll of Dymo labels against the Dymo printer and it perfectly printed my non-Dymo labels. I don't care about the numbering. Thank you
did it continue to print after the numbering ran out?
but now you can't use that Dymo roll anymore. Unless you sell it to someone else assuming they store the ID of the roll and the count in the printer. If they write to the actual chip, you're screwed.
Great idea! I think I will order some dymo labels, use the chip as shown here to print my generic labels, and then return the unused Dymo Roll back to seller....hopefully that will allow me to use my non-Dymo labels and not throw them out. lol!! Thank you!

As of the date of this comment, I cut out the RFID from the roll AFTER the label hit zero and the RFID still worked. I simply cut out the RFID with the cardboard still attached (do not peel the RFID off!) and taped it to the side and it works perfectly. I tested it on a roll that had labels and another that I finished all the way through. They both worked. I think there is a secret for this to work. My DYMO app says that my printer is disconnected. This may be why the trick works with me. Again, as of date of the comment (12/6/22) the trick works for unlimited prints.

How many prints did you do so far? And what is the max the RFID normally should print? We bought this dumb 5XL device without knowing it has this restriction..

@@enko.labels we return it.. official dymo labels for the 5xl came in today, and now it was paper jam... fun fact. Wasted 400 blanc labels that can't be used now...

My good God it works 😅😅😅...I bought original dymo labels paper for $50+ in office Depot and a compatible on Amazon that didn't work ( compatible is 480000 labels for $157) I run into this video and try it after the dymo labels finished and try this and it works...Im so happy cause dymo labels are very expensive....

At the end, when the label count hits zero, the printer renders de tag as useless. It will not be usable again.

I cut off the RFID tag and just put it inside. Makes it a big easier. Now we need to find a way to read and write to the RFID tag.
Keep us posted on that one, so far it sounds easier just to sell the printer and buy a 4 series.

Have you tested these outside of dymo programming? I currently use dymo 4's, and I print through Online Labels Maestro Label Design program. Wondering if the chip reacts the same way, or if the chip is even needed off of dymo programming
I believe I did, I can test again if there is interest. But from what I remember it just throws up an error still.
