Hi Scott. Just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful channel. I've always loved Prog, ever since I started getting into music in the 70s. You're encyclopedic knowledge of the genre is magnificent though. You've sent me on several voyages of discovery since I found your channel. Having a lot of fun digging deep into Karfagens. Back catalogue at the moment, thanks to your best of 2023 so far show!! Thank you so much! Love the band. I'd never have discovered them without your show! Thanks for everything man! Keep the freak flag flying! All hail Prog.
Bro, I seen you on SOT and really was digging your vibe. I'm an old metal head from the 80's and I've been into Prog for about 5 years know. I'm a huge Dream Theater fan, but never knew about this side of Prog. I'm so excited to listen to these bands and adding them to my vinyl collection. Thanks for what you do. Prog on! BTW, my favorite Prog rock band so far is Marillion, both with Fish and Hogarth.
Excellent list, Scot! Only half way through the year, and already, how amazing has this year been so far for new music? Outstanding! I can't wait to see/hear what is yet to come. Here is a list of new 2023 albums (released so far) which were not mentioned in your video that I have REALLY enjoyed, and that you really need to checkout before you do your end of the year 2023 albums ranking. The disc's from your list I can comment on are these: Comedy of Errors, Threnody for a Dead Queen, Just fantastic Overhead, Telepathic Minds, really, really good AVKRVST, The Approbation, I am going nuts over this one Ice Age, Waves of Loss and Power, another just really great release Haken, Fauna, I really love that they have gotten back to this style, and this sounds great. Yes, Mirror to the Sky, there were none more skeptical about this than me, but this disc has blown me away! There are a number of others on your list I need to check out. Thanks for putting this list together Scot!

Hi, I'm Ivo Di Traglia from Tritop. Thank you very much, I have seen all the bands you mentioned and we are honored to be in the top 25. Can I post it on our page?
@@TheProgCorner We did not expect everything that is happening. Obviously we are proud and proud that our work is so much appreciated. We are even more motivated for the next record! Thank you very much
Great job, as always, Scot! I've heard about half of these so far (and mostly agree with your ranking and comments), so that leaves many more to check out. A couple places where I would differ, is that I would have K'Mono much higher up (in top ten), as I am really digging that one, and Seven Impale quite a bit lower (style just not for me, except Hydra, which is cool). Also don't think Mirror to the Sky quite deserves top 5. It's very good (should be in top 25), but probably not in top ten. One other band I wanted to ask you about: Have you heard Exploring Birdsong? They're a really cool keyboard-driven prog trio (with female vocals) from Liverpool that has elements of Renaissance, Magenta, Big Big Train, and Porcupine Tree, along with jazz influences along the lines of Dave Brubeck and Chuck Leavell, and even a bit of Fleetwood Mac in there. They only have 2 EPs released so far, one from 2019 (The Thing with Feathers) and Dancing in the Face of Danger, released earlier this year. If you put the 2 EPs together, the resulting album would be near the top of my list so far this year.
It's a good thing I watch this channel and don't go just by what progarchives says because they don't even have the Chronicles of Father Robin on there. Kite Parade isn't on there either. Good job with this video! I enjoyed watching it.
Good list, Scot. Gives me plenty to dive into. I have eleven of these so we're at least partially on the same page. The two in my top ten not in your list are Uriah Heep's Chaos & Colour and Solstice's Light Up. I really dig both of those recordings. Prog on!
Only had multiple listens to two albums on your list. Haken - Fauna and Riverside - ID.Entity. So I rank them 1 and 2 respectively so far. I think I have Fauna and The Mountain tied for my favorite album of the Haken guys. So good and they did a bunch of songs from both albums in concert. It was one of the best shows I've seen. I'm going to see Dream Theater this Friday in Indiana. We will see who measures up. I'm sure I will love both. 😎
I've heard maybe 6 of these (own 4) have heard tracks from another 5 and am intrigued by the other 14 (mainly because of your comments but some excellent cover art there also) BTW - defence of Karfagen - there's quite a few 'Forest(s) of ...' in the UK, particularly The Forest of Dean so The Forest of Mysterious isn't too strange.
1. Riverside: ID.Entity 2. Haken: Fauna 3. Zopp: Dominion 4. The Samurai of Prog: The Man in the Iron Mask 5. Ogives: La Mémoire des Orages 6. Einar Solberg: 16 7. Rafael Pacha: A Bunch of Forest Songs 8. Marco Bernard: The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up 9. Lars Fredrick Frøislie: Fire Fortellinger 10. Isobar: Isobar III

You should re-listen to the Mystery catalogue, once you understand their style, everything falls into place. Every album is a little different from the last, and the drums on Redemption are killer. Hell, listen to "If You See Her", the entire song from start to finish is based on the Cinema Show riff.
@@TheProgCorner some of it is just absolutely brilliant, so many diverse music styles in a single song, things don't go where you expected them to and BAM, glorious music. My favorite prog-related album this year is the latest from Dødheimsgard entitled “Black Medium Current.” Technically the band is classified as avant-garde black metal, but they should appeal to open-minded proggers that are open to some harsh vocals. IMO, the new album is a 5/5.
