I absolutely love this-the soft speaking and the trip down memory lane as a kid of the 80s! Great find. And yes to reading others (at least one more soft spoken if doable!) including some just reading us to sleep. Thank you, Mary!! I definitely don’t take you for granted.
The late 20th Century was so cool. I was born in the early 90s but it would’ve been amazing to grow up in the 80s. When I look at the 70s-90s and then the 2020s, people sure have changed negatively.
there’s been some positive and negative changes, such is life. as long as we as individuals remain good people, we are enough. one good person is enough.
Actually, they haven't. (I was born in 1984). The past seems better because you're looking at the cool side of it. But there's a whole other side to it, darker side. There's ALWAYS the dark side. Even during Plato's time people already bemoaned the "modern times" and praised the past. I absolutely love 70-80 movies, especially the 70s ones, and a lot of cultural aspects of that era but I'm also very well aware of the negative aspects. You can read Pam Grier's memoir for example, to see how it actually was, not the shiny picture. It's like if we watch movies about the 17th century and see pretty palaces and dresses. But we aren't shown death, poverty, lice, disease, etc.
Great year! I was a senior in high school. The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross was my first ASMR experience. I use to Rush home from school to watch that show 😅🧘🏻🎨✌️
I love these videos! I'm 23 and from Portugal, I find these things so interesting, the content other people consumed in other generations and countries. Besides soft spoken videos with those nice page turning sounds are the absolute best 💕💕💕
Such fond memories from this. I was 7 in '84. The whole time, I was eagerly waiting for you to find The Joy of Painting, and when you didn't, I had to look it up. He was in between seasons, lol. Dammit! 😂 He was my first ASMR experience, though of course I had no idea what it was. Thank you so much for this nostalgic look back and your wonderful, relaxing voice and paper sounds. ❤
@@tinak5314 Oh! Erik Estrada used to run on my school track every other evening when we had track practice. (North Hollywood HS). Sweetest, friendliest, least fake guy, ever. :)
I love the nostalgia of a TV guide. I actually miss them. It made me feel my youth all over again and miss my mom. She’s no longer with me anymore, but she always used to have one and played the crossword in the back. . 💜
Love your videos! Thank you! There are still tv guides! I don't know if it would be for just my area. I live in Northeast Ohio Ave there is a tv guide in the middle of the Sunday newspaper. 📰The Tribune Chronicle📰
Monchichis! They’re sooo cute! They were little monkey characters. The Littles was a show I watched too! Also, Shirt Tales. Such a flashback, thanks for sharing this!
As a fellow Gen-X’er, this is now one of my *favorite* videos of yours! I’d love, love, LOVE more of these, and basically any videos focusing on Gen-X nostalgic items of any kind. 🙏🏻:)
I loved this little magazine! It was great fun to check out the weeks tv schedule and circle what I wanted to watch. I have a Question Mary: How do people come about having these vintage magazines to sell? Who holds onto these old publications, and why? There was no EBay for decades after this came out.
Oh my gosh my mom was the biggest Scooby-Doo fan and although I'm a child of the 90s I think it's one of the fond memories I shared with her (along with the old Godzilla movies). Oddly enough, I've grown up to have a Great Dane of my own! (Not named Scooby or Scrappy)

I was 15 in 1984 I count my lucky stars that my teenage years were spent in the 80s. I loved every minute of it! 😊
The 70s were even better. Especially the music!

When I was little we saved all our weekly TV guides for the month of December and on New Year’s Eve we’d cut them into confetti.
Wow! I haven't seen a TV Guide since the early 1990's.......my how times have changed! Somedays I wish we still lived life like we did back then.

Same, I turned 7 later in 84. Every time I watched Bob, I'd think, "WTF, why do I keep falling asleep?" lol
To see TV guides from every decade would be so cool!
Wow, my dad collected Tv Guide's. Loved looking at them when I was younger 💖💋. Thank You Mary ✌️. Oh and Readers Digests too were interesting!!!!

I rarely saw the actual TV Guide in those days. The local newspaper had its own version in the Sunday edition.
I've just watched a video where the girl was glinting through a magazine from AVON!!! 1974 I think...that amazing, just like this one.
Aww it brings me back to be an 8 year old little dude😊 It's awesome to look back ! Thank you for the nostalgia⚡️
I miss the tv guide videos!!! ❤
I loved reading the TV guide. We Gen Xers were simple teens. LOL
Back when life was simple and you couldnt skip commercials 💚
Love your videos! Thank you!
There are still tv guides! I don't know if it would be for just my area. I live in Northeast Ohio Ave there is a tv guide in the middle of the Sunday newspaper.

Yeah, I know they're still out there, but they're not the same anymore. :(

There's a whole genre of "bore me to sleep" ASMR out there. I've done a few.

Michael J. Fox was so damn cute back then... UGH. He is still a beautiful soul and an American treasure.
Hi Mary!😊❤
Grew up with the TV Guide. Warm memories of a much simpler time.
Is there a crossword puzzle in the back??
I'm giggling in the dark...❤
