The NV generation system is not the best way to describe newer NV device. Devices that use MCP (Gen 2 or newer) should be described by their photocathode, SNR, and gating. Photonis S-25 autogating series (XD4, XR5, 4G) are quite competitive against new Gen 3 with excellent SNR despite being technically "Gen 2" and much like select Gen 3, they may have autogating features. Futhermore Gen 3 are also differentiated by their ion film; regular (typical Gen 3), thin-filmed (Exelis/ L3/ Gen3+), and unfilmed (L3) TLDR: Photocathode, autogating, and SNR are the three values I would look for the most

I have armasight sirius gen2+ in white phosporous and it works fantastic. I use it for airsoft, u cant compare old gen2 units wit new gen2+ units.
