I'm glad that I happened to read your comment. I only listened to this presentation. My phone was on autoplay. It was great without visuals. Very interesting. Going to replay and watch this time. Thanks.
Believe it or not, it's the guy who wrote the content. He did everything except narrate it. Name's Alessandro and he is mega talented. I found this out yesterday when I asked myself the same question.
or a relative hero
Undoubtedly the most underrated youtube channel
This was my exact thought as well. These are very well crafted explanations with very intuitive illustrations
I can think of a few, but yes most definitely.
No. Its nonsense. Check out skyscholar and learn .
It's a relatively (get it?) new channel tho, give it time
I came to comment section to write the same
You connected lots of knowledge "islands" for me with this. Thank you!
That...is the best way to describe it. Wow. Thank you.
Couldn't have said it better.
Watch skyscholar and thunderbolts project. All your connections will vanish.
@@thephuntastics2920 Now why is that?
this comment is a year old but i had to comment... I love how you put that, "Knowledge Islands". I've always thought about this but have never put it to words. You're right too, this channel has a way of land-locking these islands together with amazing visual representations. Very good. I'm happy our islands met, so long as time ;)
Omg, the vizualizations are so good! Why does it have so few subscribers? I'm gonna try and share as much as I can.
Thank you very much ! Sharing helps a lot, the channel is still quite new, glad you like the videos !
@@ScienceClicEN I think this is the first series of videos I actually share with my non physics loving friends. Great visualizations indeed. Im just going through it all but i think you can really reach the masses with these. Keep going.
I use to watch the other channel (the one in French).
The narrator’s voice seems different... is it the same narrator or a different guy ?
@@ScienceClicEN You gave quite some incorrect/outdated information.
First you mixed up the effects of the black hole and the singularity. Nothing escapes the black hole because space itself is being dragged into the singulairty. The mass around the singualrity is immensly dense which is affecting space time but then the space itself is being dragged into the singuality. Destroyed, dragged infinitly down in a ring like point but never converging or being inflating out somewhere on the other side like a new inflating universe - nobody knows but space or spacetime as you call it is being dragged into the singularity. You did not explain this.
If i recall inside the black hole closer to the singularity the frame drag is moving space into the singualrity faster than the speed of light. And yes you can orbit a spinning black hole with stability. There is a certain distance from which this is possible and it actualy quite close. . You can use the frame drag as a boost to stop you from being pulled into the black hole - again only from a certain distance but it is much closer than you think. Angular momentum blah blah blah.
it is even possible to use the black holes spin to free yourself from its gravitational pull once you are beyond the event horizon. You use some energy at the correct moment and in return you leave the black hole with more energy then going in. Black hole bomb, as they call it.
@@ScienceClicEN loved it
Your channel deserves more viewers. I watch all physics channels. Yours is the one that has the perfect balance between rigor, simplicity and clarity.
Fart!!!...
Can u recommend some others that u watch ?
@@cadence_wav2423 hey if you still look out for other channels I can recommend PBS Spacetime. in some ways similar, with less animations thouh. The topics explored are partially a bit more based on the effects of discoveries and smaller parts of theories rather than giving an overview over the basic concept of a theory.
How to explain General Relativity, simply. Hats off. This is pure gold.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Everything was just so well explained and the effects too were very cool. I really love the fact that in your general relativity videos you show that matter is in the fabric not on the surface of the fabric which is a really misleading and biassed way of explaining it. I love physiscs and absolutely love these kinds of videos with deep explanations. Keep up the good work
Yes I to hate how they always show gravity being on a flat surface pushing a ball down on a rubber sheet instead of being in the center of an internal object called the universe.
Damn! Someone finally said it! I totally agree with you on how majority of science videos visualize the space-time, gravity, etc. as a flat fabric. This is one of the reasons why my imagination can't get a full grasp of how gravity works before! People would say that it's always shown in a flat surface so people could "better" understand when I think it only creates a misleading illusion for normal folks that gravity is flat surface.
except is was all nonsense, cant you figure that much out?

Just discovered your channel and already it is my favourite channel on UA-cam
Your videos are way more informative and understandable than any others on UA-cam. Keep up
Seeing those gridlines getting sucked into the star really makes clear why light bends as it passes and it's much more intuitive than the gravity well of stretched cloth - it's almost as if everybody else was working really hard to make damn sure we couldn't learn the reality. It would be really cool to see all different perspectives, ie space sucking in over time as you've drawn, and massive objects growing over time with an unchanging grid, etc. It would be good to see how a circular orbit works in all perspectives as well as light bending.
I consider videos like these a perfect marriage of the great theories of science and computer graphics to explain concepts which may very well become the inspiration to the next big thing.
this channel is truly one of the best and most informative content creators on the platform. please continue this amazing work !
Ive watched a lot of these type of youtube videos, but this channel is really something else! Perfect animation to compliment the great explanation, this is amazing
What a super informative video compiled in a very nice way! I love the curriculum here and how the science is explained. Kudos! I’m totally a fan!
very accurate, I'm a 12-year-old, and Love it! especially the one about black holes...
This actually had the perfect explanation. I watched the special relativity video as well. They're well explained and I got it in the instant. Thanks a lot for your hard work
I understood almost everything in the video i guess and i have seen like hundreds of videos on this but I cant understand like why cannot mass stay stationary. Like I get why it bends towards large masses because of curvature but why does not the body stay stationary instead of travelling in a straight line? Like if we put a body near earth i understand why it would bend towards earth if it is moving but why would it start moving through space in the first place? I mean I get why a body moving towards larger masses will bend towards the larger mass when but if it is not moving then why would it start its motion through that curved curvature if gravity is not a force?
@wholesomevideos7749
Because of the time dimension.
The bending of space isn't best analogiesed as a sort of slide for matter to fall on. Because, then what would actually be pushing the apple in that direction in the first place?
What I like to imagine is just like what was shown in the video at 7:13 now picture this grid, but on any open free space on any of the lines, put a dot in that space.
These dots are "events" or the flowing of time, for every dot that hits the surface could indicate a nano second or whatever amount of "time" you wish to exceed.
The bending of space is constant and continuous.
So if you had an apple in a complete vacuum, It would still be moving in time, the apple is moving through those imaginary dots on a universe of never ending overlapping grids. Each grid could be a second in space, if the grid is untouched and the lines are completely still, then for every second, the apple from left to right will hop from grid to grid.
From a 2d perspective, it appears to be still.
Imagine that the universe moves with time, this universe was not the same universe 1 second ago. Every hop to a new grid is a new line in the space time fabric.
When you are moving through space on a curved line, it's still a straight line in time.
So the apple is just moving in time like it would in any other spot of the universe, but now the straight line of space it normally rides, is curving towards the center of the earth. This line is still "straight".
Imagine like how satellites move around the earth. They move in straight lines to the left or right of the earth, but the curvature of space time bends those straight lines around the earth. The same thing applies to the TIME dimension. Time moves objects through the progression of the universe, if unaltered, this'll be just a straight line into the future, like if you just held an apple in your hand.
But when the straight lines curve, the future is still at the progression of those lines, it's just that now those lines are going towards the center to the earth.
So "gravity" is an object moving through space with the propulsion of time. Because space bends, well then so do the trajectories of objects in space-time.
I hope this makes sense, it's kinda hard to write it out.

The best explanation I have ever seen. All other explanations or models only made me ask more questions and I could not understand. This made it perfectly clear.

Outstanding explanation. Thank you!
Thank you for this video...don’t know how many videos been watched to get this understand...
There's only one problem with this video: it ends
Yes, that irritated me too!
not to mention it is highly missleading letting you to believe that space itself is curved around the planets while it is the spacetime continuum that is curved not the space itself. if the space itself would be distorted our bodies would get distorted depending on the altitude measured from the reference planet.
@@llucianf Space itself IS curved. Space is part of spacetime. All four dimensions are curved, including the 3 spatial dimensions.
@@pasijutaulietuviuesas9174 do not be ridiculous my friend. if space would be curved your body would be curved as well.
@@llucianf You just said that spacetime continuum is curved. That includes space as well. And no, bodies don't necessarily have to curve. Space is also expanding in all directions, but we're not inflating. That is because the electromagnetic force that binds us together is simply stronger and resists distortion.
Thank you for providing the most intuitive explanation to such complex topic...
i love when videos are understandable for every viewer!thank u very much for you work

Could you color the points of the grid in relation of the speed of time in future videos (from 0% when time fully stops at the event horizon to 100% when it flows normally)? I feel like it would be much more intuitive than the tiny clocks. Great videos btw!
Thank you, this contraction of space as form of rotation in space-time is really a missing piece in popular explanation of Einstein gravity.
Never bored of these videos, I always watch it again and again and again.
Definitely enjoyed watching especially the way you explained it. 💯

The explanation for gravity accelerating an otherwise stationary object over time was profound to me. Makes me wonder, would a mass of matter with a negative temporal velocity cause a repulsive "force"? What would matter with a different temporal velocity look like to an observer in our frame of reference? Is this dark energy/matter or the cause of expansion acceleration we see in the universe?
Wouldn't a negative temporal velocity mean going backwards through time? Then yes it would cause a repulsive force but we travel forward in time so it wouldn't look any different to us observing it.
JUST PURE UNADULTERATED JEALOUSY & ENVY...... (I don't understand how people can leave dislikes on videos from this youtube channel , I believe (I know) it's the best channel on you youtube for understanding scientific topics)
Excellent as could be without equations, and the dramatic background music is just right, not loud, not distracting.
Another awesome video. This finally shows me why planets have elliptical, rather than circular, orbits. Had all of my algebra, geometry, and trig in high school applied all of those equations to real-world uses, like graphing ellipses gives us planetary orbits, I may have been more exposed to, and had a better appreciation of, STEM career fields. I have never seen the graphing of an ellipse with the added visualization of spacetime. The spacetime component provides the aha of why orbits are elliptical. You have made this such a simple concept to understand. Thank you!
This makes me wonder if the scaffolding of spacetime is somehow related to, or a part of, the filaments of dark matter. Hmm?
I agree with your observation. Visual thinkers are turned off by mathematical equations.
You make absolutely brillant animations, and explain these things so good. Love it.
@10:22 I need some clarification. Any observer in motion or a gravitational field will experience a time dilation, but only from the perspective of an outside observer. There is no experiment that could be performed to measure the time dilation from the point of observer that is experiencing the time dilation.
So if we were close to the black hole, everything outside it would be looking to be happening faster and faster from our point of view, no?
@Bainsworth Do you want to clarify?
Yes thats true. Person himself doesn't feel the time slowing down or going very quickly. This thing about time being slow i.e. time dilation is a very relative thing. That means you yourself doesn't feel like time is passing very slow for you. Even on blackhole one feels as normal (if they don't die!) as they are on earth. But time is definitely going very very slow for you AS COMPARED to the person living on earth. Means if a person on the earth can see you live, he will observe you motionless on blackhole, because time slowdown to almost to zero due to the tremendous gravity of blackhole. Similarly if you can observe the person living on earth live from the blackhole, you will see him going fast forward with very very much speed. May be you will see them living their whole life or even generations passing by in just one second of yours.
Holy moly, this is amazing. One of my favourite channels. You deserve many more subscribers. 💜✌️
This video is so clear my visual mind actually conjured a metric tensor of its own accord.
Very nice explanation sir. Could you please also explain tides using general relativity?
Even before coming across these videos, I have always visualised 3D spacetime like this. I've always questioned the 2D spacetime illustration.
amazing video, answering a lot questions puzzling me for long time
Thankyou so much.. You made this clear than other mainstream channels..Now I am able to visualise space and get things easily
Great video! One problem with “2 men walking on curved Earth on parallel trajectories and meeting at north pole” analogy is the fact they’ll meet there regardless their speed, be it 1, 5 or 100 km/h. While objects moving near massive object (Earth) will have different meeting points depending on their speeds.
No beware, on the Earth the vertical direction (latitude) represents time, and the horizontal direction (longitude), represents space. So speed on the Earth if analogous to speed in spacetime, not speed through space.
When you have two objects that move with differents speeds through space, it corresponds to trajectories with different orientations through spacetime (see spacetime diagrams)
My whole life was a life...
I always thought gravity as a force and had difficulties to understand general relativity. This also explains why a there is a vortex-like shape around a blackhole. That makes sense a lot...
Thanks for putting these videos. This channel is highly recommended ❤

Besides math geodesics, what is the fabric of SpaceTime? Could it be the sum of quantum fields? (I call this the Strawberry Fields Forever Theory. 😳 thoughts?
It cant. Spacetime is just dimensions where quantum fields could be found . But the quantum fields shouldnt be limited to just this . I mean , we can imagine a Universe where spacetime doesnt exist but the quantum fields should still be there .
@@cazymike87 but quantum field is about events, and with no spacetime there wouldnt be any event. they are just there floating about

The end explaining the delay massive objects have when distorting the space time around it was just amazing. This channel is good, very, very, good.
Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
Your voice sounds deeper that it normally is....like your doing voice over for Stark Industries
But .. if gravitation is not a force, what is tearing things apart during spaghettification - or even causing acceleration? Love these videos - thank you.
Yeah that's the same issue I was having with him saying it's not a force. If you don't want to call the attraction between mass a force you would then need to call the bending of space/time a force. Gravity is still a force just one that bends space/time instead of attracting massive objects.
After countless of videos about Blackholes, this one video made me understand completely.
Thank you so much. Since many years i was having doubt in visualising 3d fabric of space now i understood the time dilation. Ty so much.. will share as much as possible....

The animations are perfect for visualizing gravity causing altered movement of objects, but Im still unclear about WHY the time dilation happens near massive objects. Anyone have an intuitive or visual answer for this?
i don’t know if you’ve found your answer or if you’ve seen this video from the same channel already but the explanation and visualization in here ua-cam.com/video/GQZ3R81iyE0/v-deo.html were really eye-opening for me!
this is because time, just like the 3 space dimensions we know is a dimension that everything moves in and when the grid is curved it curves the temporal dimension as well as the 3 space dimensions
One of the best explanations out there!
Now I can enjoy interstellar movie in a much better way 😁
there is always this confusion: gr equations talks about curvature of spacetime while these representations suggests a pure space curvature.
This made me clearly better understand general relativity...I've watched this theory on several channels, but this one helps a lot. new sub here
This is by far the best explanation I've found on the internet
No one ever asks how is general relativity
This doesn't make any sense. Your video is entirely based on the idea of "an object moving in a straight line." If you put two stationary objects next to each other they will eventually come together because of gravity. Neither object is moving relative to the other, but they still will come together. Your video shows you don't have a fundamental understanding of gravity. I think you should delete this.
I see your point and believe it to be true as well but couldnt the other perspective to it be something like 'the two stationary objects will move towards each other in a straight line due to the curving of spacetime around an object with mass'?!!
I literally see both points equally valid but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this pov
Dude. Being "at rest" is relative to your frame of reference. You might look at two objects and declare them to be at rest, but that's on earth, and if I'm observing from the sun, to me, they're careening through space at breakneck speed along with you and everything else on the planet. If two objects are at rest relative to each other, they're the same as the example with two people moving in parallel lines.
I am following many known physics YT channels, but this one... is something else!
Dear, EXCELLENT . CONGRATULATIONS!
Glory be to Allah 🙏🤲🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️, Creator of everything
Dude when the music shift happens i just know its gonna get fd up, i love this channel
It's an amazing representation, I think it could have a follow up with rotating mass (frame dragging) and also how does the spacetime smoothes to the center where all the gravitational influence cancels.
Does all the paths from the past meet at the center of the earth? Or spread out while they fade into earth?
The best I've ever seen. The 3d diagrams showing space/time being bent from all directions to the center of the Mass is far more accurate than the "rubber sheet model" which forces the center of the mass to be offset to the southern pole of a sphere, and stretches the model where it should be contracting the space/time grid model .
4:30. no sorry but that is a nonsensical presupposition, there is no reason why a massive object would distort space around it, it would DISPLACE not distort.
Why this channel only have 77k subs is beyond me. Such a good channel and didn't reach 100k yet. I don't know why people don't watch useful stuff which is useful for them and the society too.
