Listened to Wonder Years for most of a 34 hour bus ride from new york back to minneapolis. This came on when I was getting off the bus, and everyone on the bus had family to meet them and I just got off the bus and walked home. All I could think was holy shit this is pop-punk as fuck.

Thomas Revill exactly! Tbh I was 19-20 when this song came out and it didn’t even mean anything to me. I didn’t care. Just thought it sounded good! I hadn’t a clue as to what I would feel today. I fucked up my first year of college and failed. I messed up and had a few bad relationships I shouldn’t have gotten into then and I didn’t even start working on my music serious back then. I’m JUST NOW caring about what relationship is worth it to enter. Bc I’m serious about possibly finally marrying. I’m taking it serious. I’m JUST NOW getting into the swing of taking my music (as a career) serious and finishing up after re-uping back into college to finish my music production degree. The Wonder Years and The Story So Far co-headline tour was my first concert i ever went too. I sang every word and poured my heart bc I loved all their songs. But now, I’m almost 25 and a lot of where I wanted to be right now still hadn’t worked out. Now this song actually rings true. I wonder if I ever fucked up... missed my window 😢

I just turned 26. When the clock struck midnight and I was officially 26, I hit play and listened to it full blast on my headphones. Young me thought I would have have it all figured out by 25. Instead I blast this song and sing along as best I can, getting teary eyed every time Dan says “Jesus Christ…” because it’s so relatable when all your friends are married, when they have kids, when you just feel like you’re completely falling behind and falling apart. When you feel like somewhere along the line you fucked up. The Wonder Years makes me feel like I’m not completely alone feeling this way. So I’ll turn the volume up again, give the song another listen, and maybe soon enough I won’t feel this way. But for now, Jesus Christ, I’m 26.

I still have a year to go before the 26 line can officially resonate with me but the way things are now, I'll definitely feel the same way you do.
I've just been procrastinating on life and all I got out of it was the ability to relate to sad pop punk songs lmao

What blows my mind more than how perfectly this song fits how I feel, is how the video captures it. When I try to explain my depression to people and my anxiety, I always say how I feel like I am sitting on a train. I am still while everything else flies by me. I get to see glimpses of beautiful things from time to time, but it's gone in a flash of dizzying motions.

Man, this entire album perfectly captures getting older. I'm 24 now, and pretty much everyone I know grew up with pop punk be it The Offspring to Brand New or Blink 182. It was fun and all but eventually you outgrow it for anything other than nostalgia. Then an album like this comes out. Holy fuck. It's been forever since pop punk gave me shivers. Honestly, listening to this album is a little uncomfortable for me just because of how hard it hits home. And I fucking love every second of it.

I’m not a super big fan of TWY, but this album sits in my family’s van and this album is considered a family album, and my mom sings along at the “I’m 26! All the people I graduated with…” without hesitation cause she stresses how much she felt like that at 26. When my sibiling told her the lead got married the first thing she said was “so he has someone who cares if he comes home at night?“ this album holds a very unique place in my heart and my family.

I had this song on my cellphone and I uploaded this song on it because I liked it's sound (at first) and not for the lyrics; I'm latin and even though I speak English I didn't pay attention to the lyrics, so I didn't really understand what this song was about; but I was listening this song during the lunch time at work and I felt the emotion charge after the bridge, I notice words like "how could you understand, jesus christ., I'm 26, did I fuck up?". So I look for the lyrics and...damn, It hit me hard because I have felt, and sometimes still feel like the lyrics describes, and being 26 years old myself it hit me hard that I can relate myself to this song so much. Many of the people I graduated with have wives and kids already, sometimes I feel bad, not for not having a family but for, at 26 years old, not having half of the stability that It would require. Even though I'm not feeling like having wife and kids untill having at least 35. Anyway, this is a great song, lyrically and musically speaking.

I’m 26 now. Proud to say I got a wife and kid waiting for me at home. I don’t think I ever would’ve thought it was possible hearing this song for the first time damn near a decade ago. Weird how times does what it does.

I don't understand all the hate towards this video. Despite TWY not being involved, the concept itself shows just how much the band has matured. The new album is one of, if the not the best I've ever heard. Beautiful.

Definitely have to comment on this. Well I finally turn 27 today. It's crazy how I came this far in life lol. My days of being in my early 20s/mid20s are pretty much past me now. It's been on e heck of a ride and I learned so much about myself and what goals I want to do in my life. Being 27 now, I realize I'm getting older and how this track is way more relatable now lol. Shout out to The Wonder years for making this track to me and others that find this relatable. Been listening to you guys since high school. Anyways, this might be my last comment here as there's nothing else but to keep my head up moving forward. See ya

I feel you man, same here. For past 2 years. Each and every one of us that works, can relate to this guy, once every morning and day starts being same, you start to question yourself is this life you want, and can you still change something, because even small things matter. We shouldnt be looking through window while our life is passing.

Funny how I keep on listening to this song for the past few weeks and realized that's where I am right now. The whole lyrics is just on point on where I'm at, specially on 2:41. Never really pay much attention to the lyrics back then but now I've appreciated the song even much more. Listening to The Wonder Years really makes me happy and sad at the same time. 😂

Just a thought I had but it seems everyone thinks this song is about an early life crisis but I’ve always taken it as a character suffering from PTSD. It fits the theme of the album and Passing Through a Screen Door is even an acronym for PTSD. This is also supported by the lines about being terrified like a kid in the 60’s waiting for the bomb to fall and explains why he keeps a flashlight and a knife by his bed because he is left terrified from his time in the military. The army green jacket of the man in the music video also could maybe be a hint. Not 100% sure but there is strong evidence to support this idea.

i actually love this video, this has been my life for the past 9 months. getting up at 5 am every morning to catch the bus with nothing to do but stare out the window and see yourself at places you've been and see yourself getting older and hoping this isn't the rest of your life, and trying to figure a way out on top of it all. its not the best video they've ever done but holy shit does this resonate with me, and for that i think its fucking brilliant, I AM THAT GUY ON THAT TRAIN!

Man this gave me a new perspective on things. I was in a band when i was younger, and all i thought about was making music and making it big and not having to work a 9 to 5 job. These guys have it, travelling and making money doing what they love, and yet they long for what normal average people have. Guess you can't really have it all
