@@nickvaandamme747because the game is quite literally changed. cc is way more important now than ever which is why you get a choice between beads or blink. respect athena players lol they don’t mess around and as an athena player myself, im glad the rest of her abilities are the same. she’s a greatly designed character imo
would be cool to have a reflect of some sort tho since she’s.. athena but the cc immunity effect on allies with her ult is gonna be clutch
I feel like the original ult was balanced. If you ult a teammate that's going to die, you're gambling on whether or not they will survive. You could ult someone else to join a team fight, or you could ult the person dying. It creates a higher skill ceiling because you actually have to think about who you're ulting and the situation they are in.
Killing the target getting ulted to prevent Athena from joining the fight is a strategic counter that is no longer there. If an Athena is ulting, you can stop it by bursting her target. This also adds strategy. You have to consider whether or not you'd be able to burst the person down fast enough to prevent the Athena ult. Do you fight to burst the person, back off, or stay and fight that person with Athena.
With this new change, Athena ults no matter what. That removes strategic thinking and counter potential. This will help newer players but greatly lowers the skill ceiling for this character.
@@Kolazolano stop. It might be "balanced" but it's not healthy or fun or part of a larger logic that actually makes sense. It's unintentional and that's why they changed it

@@nickvaandamme747 I hope you know how terrible Unreal Engine 3 was. It didn’t even allow for specific Gods to be designed into the game due to limitations. Certain skins couldn’t even come because the engine couldn’t handle it.
Nobody remember the commotion with the Angelic Awilix skin looking nothing like the artwork that won the contest?
Even small changes like this broke the engine and game. Look how terrible Thor looks after they tried to make a whole ability do something else. He still looks clunky to me. That’s how garbage UE3 was, now in UE5 they can start from the ground up and simplify or even make something better.

Im pretty sure her ult used to give a shield a long time ago too. I got back into smite recently and was shocked that the athena ult only gave dmg mitigation.
Didn't it also stun? Which made everyone run away or the fight was gonna turn 180 almost instantly?
Funny how it took 6 to 8 yrs to develop an idea every developer and consumer alr had.

Glad we’re finally able to address her ult staying in place when her teammate died. That was one of the worst feelings while playing Athena.

If you like the game learn each role! If not probably shouldn’t play conquest!
@@bread_plays3984true but also some people aren’t built to play certain roles. Some people are more support based in their gameplay, some are more focused on other aspects of damaging or controlling space. (All games I’ve played I’ve been a bad support player, but generally pretty/really good on the other roles. My overall smite win % is 15% lower on guardians than any other role
I still feel like her passive is almost completely useless

Good ult change but the passive is still so boring and doesn't really gel with the rest of her kit.
I think her ult should knock back anyone in the radius after she teleports to the player
what if u ult melee ally and he/she is trying to AA or use short distance abilities like Tyr, or Wukong 3, etc?
She should be able to ult to friendly towers!
Took them long enough, Muriel has always done this. If you like smite...give predecessor a try.
Why not add an option to cancel the ult as well? That way you don’t join a lost fight

Been asking for this for years. It was this or cancel my ult. So i can use it on someone else. I would have taken either of those choices. And i started playing this in season 7.
Finally changing older gods to compete with the new ones. Now completely rework Nox, Anubis, and Loki so my new teammates don’t get 1 tricked the entire game.
Or, and hear me out, now that you tele regardless of their death you could be 100% guaranteeing your death from an unwinnable situation.

Day 1(+ 3 years and 15 days) of waiting for proper persephone rework. Clue# her passive. 2nd suggestion, her new 2 is ok with being able to get plants down but the 2 landmines between stages need to return. As it stands waiting for seed to plant is wasted and takes too long. Even more so when you are being beat down. Abd lastly for the love of the game dont kill her ult.

I think she gets the CC immunity but with the way the camera was I can see how you mixed it up
@@TragikDino yeah, she's always had cc immunity for herself but it looks like she gave it to Odin as well. But they never mentioned it so probably not.

A change long overdue, so dumb that we had to wait for a 2nd game just for this to get fixed.

That is a true statement but hopefully at least 80% of the needed long overdue changes happen. It should be relatively easy as they’re basically rebuilding each character into the game. Hell, I’m just curious if they’ll give up on Persephone and just change her character altogether.
Ya but there’s no actual game play changes just the way the ability’s look , the sheild doesn’t make a difference really, it’s still the same character that we have been playing for 6 years , when will they notice that stuff like that taught ruins the game

How anyone still plays this game is beyond me they are so money hungry.
It would be good if you would stop ruining the game with your updates. Instead of constantly changing the items you could just add new ones. You're ruining the whole gameplay you're getting used to. Instead of ruining the items, you should pay attention to morphing the gods which are just way too overpowered. I've been following Smite since the beginning and I'm telling you, it's just too much to cry about.

Why are only 3/4 abilities shown? I really look forward ro smite 2 but the preview videos for it are really not good at all. A lot of them focus on unimportant things (particle effect) and when there is 1 video highlighting something I am interested in (god changes) you forget to show 1 of the abilities. Its really hard to get my friends to also try to play smite with these videos...
That's because that last ability didn't have any changes. Honestly, the only abilities that had changes for her was her dash and her ultimate. They showed the other two abilities just because they mentioned that most of her abilities are the same. My point is this video showed you all of the changes and everything they didn't show you was not changed.
@@Grimjr7 really bad excuse. Unprofessional video. Either show everything or just changes. Also lets assume some people might not have played smite or a long time ago (like my friends) they would like to see all abilities.

True. This video seems like a clip from a stream. Maybe later on they will make short god videos like they used to do in Smite 1. Smite 1 used to have a Smite UA-cam tab that had multiple content creators and dev videos in Smite 1, to watch while you wait for your queue. I learned a lot from watching those videos, was sad when it was removed from the game.
