- Royal Canadian Air Force CH-147F (CH-47) Chinook Helicopter 147301 is seen on the approach and landing at CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. It was an impressive sight to see this RCAF twin-engine, tandem-rotor, heavy-lift CH47 Chinook helicopter in action!
Also included is a Bell CH-146 Griffon in the Search & Rescue SAR livery taking off from CZNL.
The CH-47 Chinook is the current world's fastest military helicopter.
When I was a kid I use to get chills when I heard their distinct sound in the sky above. When everyday helicopter flew over it wasn't a big deal. When I heard the Chinooks coming I'd drop my bicycle and look to the sky until I seen it fly by. They were and still are badass beasts. I'm 47 yrs old now and still pause if I'm not doing anything important to watch them fly over.
Those T55 gas turbine engines don't look big enough to power such a big helicopter. It's amazing they produce 5,000 hp each.
FINALLY, someone on UA-cam that knows how to shoot quality video! Nicely done!
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed the video!
I totally agree!
Awesome close-up footage, sure is one impressive looking Helicopter with those two rotors!
Thanks so much, this was one of my favourite catches from 2017.
WOW! That was definitely one of the greatest videos on your channel mate! Loved the scene in the beginning where the huge heli approached!! Great catch, I'm really impressed!
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it!
Epic! Beautiful approach. Great camerawork.
Thanks a lot!

I got this exact helicopter once landing/ departing... i dont know why I never posted it; I should! Great work
Definitely got a bit dusty filming this one haha. Nice, you should definitely put it up, I'd love to see it!
Awesome video of a truly grand helicopter - thanks for sharing!
Ooo I had one of those land on our school plot and we got to go in it and explore the areas it was extremely loud
Awesome video and footage of Chinook!I love the sound!Double Thumbs up!!!
Thanks very much!
Biggest yet fastest. A weird but beautiful combo.
I totally agree!

Hell Yeah! What a Beast!
This one was awesome to see!
Wow, incredible quality video!!
Thanks a lot!
Get to the Chopper !🚁🚁🚁
Impressive video of this very unique helicopter. I wish I could be so close one day, I always missed every landing of the U.S. Chinooks at Graz when they are here for a fuel or night stop.
Thanks, I was so happy to catch this one. It's truly an impressive helicopter. I hope you see some more and catch them landing at Graz soon!
Imagine chartering one of those helicopters
I don't think you'd want to imagine the cost 😄
You should look up British Airways Helicopters. They flew Chinooks during the 80s.
Simply Amazing beast
Beautiful
Love these impressive machines.
@@TheHDAviation yes i love these "chinook" i live near a small airport and they land basically enxt to my front door all the time.i also love to fly them in Arma 3
This brings back memories of a Chinook landing at our high school in California as a recruiting aid for the U.S.Army, it was pretty cool to see it come in and land. The start up and take off was awesome like in this video. Thank you for showing this
Love Chinooks....Cracking video......Steve.
Thanks Steve!
Gosh, I miss flying her. So many bad guys heard that sound before being snatched👌🏼
Great video! They seem to spend an inordinate amount of time blocking the runway, does anyone know the tactical reason for this?
The same for the UH's,never die.
ช
That's pretty country. Reminds me of Washington.
Ya, there's lots of great scenery around. We're very close to Washington too, only about a 50 minute drive.
Awesome helicopter!
Indeed!
What they don't tell you is that this video is slowed down, that's how fast it is.
Superb catch! I've seen them fly over my house or flying in/out of Fort Indiantown Gap but I haven't gotten the chance to get a close up.
Thanks very much, this was the first one I had ever seen. One impressive machine!
Breathtaking !
I love helikopters
I thought the British Lynx was the fastest helicopter in the world?
Hell yeah that is Awesome
Thanks for watching!
Very awesome
Sounds like the uh 1n twin Huey
Pretty sure the Westland Lynx is still the fastest helicopter in the world, though with the advent of compound helicopters like the Raider I'm sure they are even faster than the Lynx.
Chinook is not the fastest helicopter in the world. That title belongs to the Lynx, modified variant went 249.09mph in 1986, the AH.7 variants for the Army were capable of 205mph flat out. This aircraft does 195mph, so possibly second fastest behind the Lynx
Great video of a great aircraft but fastest? How about the Westland Lynx......
Yes, I think you're right. Though I don't think there are any left in military service.
TheHDAviation the lynx has been updated and is now called the Wildcat.
@@mike.47 she's the fastest US Military helicopter. When dropping off or picking up the Chinooks Apache escorts cannot keep up with her as she high tails it out.
DC8Combi I appreciate the chinook is the fastest US helicopter, but the title of this video states that it’s the “world’s fastest.”
I rest my case.
Pilipino. needs 17 units of chinook helicopter to support deliver of rice cargo and other vegetable around the country
Yo así quiero uno
😍😍😍😍😍😍😊😊😊😊😊😊
Shut up and take my money
I love the Chinook but it’s not the fastest military helicopter, many faster out there, Mi24, Merlin etc. The fastest is the British Lynx 🐈⬛
World's fastest Military Helicopter ???? What about the Apache, or the Blackhawk, or...never mind. Obviously you make ridiculous statements without checking the facts,
Lynx and puma are faster
I love those helicopters and the things their pilots can do with them is incredible. Salute.
The bell 412 was good but not as good as the C47 chinook but the sound of the APU on the chinook sounds like a freight train
My dream heli💙💙💙 I would so much love to live near a place with these beauties... love the sound, see the sight and feel the power of the Chinook!!! Thank you so much for the awesome video 💛💛💛
Glad you enjoyed the video! It was really impressive to get to see this helicopter stopping by CZNL.
5:07 check out the door at the right.
It has been stuck there ever since
Yeah the rotor blast blew it open! 🤣
Always enjoy seeing the mighty chinook in action! Tremendous footage mate, some of the best I've ever seen of this beast!
Same here. Thanks a lot!
The Sound, the Sight, the Dust...Amazing....."Get to the Chopper!"
Thanks very much!
Love these, been in them, Lynx is much faster though
You know how much I love these Chinook's, this footage can't get any better and the Griffon was the icing on the cake :)
Thanks very much Ed!
Love the chinook!
Same here, one impressive helicopter!
I saw your "Sea-Tac" and thought I'd check it out...no vids? Do I have to subscribe to view?
Spectacular Chinook landing and CH-146 Griffon takeoff!!! :)
Thanks a lot!
Hello, prop wash, my old friend
I never seen before in my life. Amezing wings speed and sound of helicopter. CH - 147F model design So Beautiful. 🚁👌 very large wings. OMG.😲😳🥶🥶😳🤯
It was impressive to see, one awesome helicopter!
Not the fastest.... the British Lynx military helicopter is the fastest... so fast it can do a loop the loop
great video!!! love the griffon/412 at the end!!
Thanks very much! Wish I would have got some better shots of the Griffon, but wanted to share it anyway.
The Chinook. Sikorsky's pride and joy!
Such an epic machine, and that landing shot, BEAUTIFUL!
This is one of my all-time favourite visitors to CZNL. Love the mighty Chinook!
Fabulous chinook catch; the elephant of the sky :D! Liked for sure and have a nice day
I worked on that aircraft along with the other Royal Canadian Air Force CH-147F's.
Very cool, that must have been really interesting working on these massive machines.
TheHDAviation they are a lot of fun to work on and awesome to fly in. I’m currently working on the last few US Army’s CH-47F’s.
Will we be going into production on the CH-47F Block II next.
Thanks for filming this. I was one of the aircraft commanders on the Chinook this summer. This wasn't me however, I never flew the mission down to Nelson.
Very nice video !! :)
Thanks a lot!
Superb video of this great helicopter!
Thanks Matt!
Long live CH-47's best helicopter ever made, thanks to Boeing aircraft, best factory in the world for years to come,so has i always said on my time, keep them flying.

7:32
Spectacular video mate!
Thanks!
fastest helo took 3 fvckin minutes to get on the ground..... right
can't believe this big ass helicopter can only carry up to 5 engineers
Love that sound
Are you sure the chinook is the fastest military helicopter? I thought the British had the fastest helicopter in the world.
We had the Lynx in Army and navy service, but recently replaced it with the newer Wildcat. This could be the fastest serving helicopter, I don't know.
God bless USA.
