Tony's 30 day program got me to quit meth and the hard life in 6 months he is really amazing now. I have a Beautiful wife and 4 kids we are so happy it's amazing
@meow purr if that’s true then everyone would be the same and no one would ever stand out or have wonderful stories of their triumphs and successes despite branching out of the norm. But it’s not. If anything people are trying to be more alone and stand out than fit in. 😂
This is typical selling. Framing questions, clarifying objections (you mean you don't have a tape player?) and then isolating (are you just saying that, or do you mean it?) and then closing "well, here is a tape player for you". Tony is doing the same psychology of the sale today, just doing it in a less of a "gotcha" way. Smoother. Over the years sales has evolved from boxing people in to building value and then taking it away. I had a waiter one time tell me I probably couldn't tell the difference between a 30 dollar steak and their 70 dollar steak. Challenge accepted. Wife order the 30 dollar one and I ordered the 70 dollar one. I showed him! Yes, there was a difference but not 40 dollars worth. But hey, he wasn't going to tell me what I should or should not order. I got sold.
He even states then the approach turned him off, It's a trap basically. What I do love is the questions and layering on the value, and test closing that is demonstrated!
"I got my start learning how to pressure people into purchases they didn't really want to make, so trust me with all this other stuff I'm gonna tell you."
Fair enough man, but to his credit he sharpened his tools and was able to leave that industry because he wanted to influence people to do what’s best for themselves instead of manipulating them into wasting money.
So cool to see the young Tony with so much integrity, care and honesty since he began waking up ... shows his roots and his heart is there with the people ... yeyyy Tony 💖
"inducing reciprocity". Yes. Lots of integrity in "inducing" people to buy stuff they don't truly need as a sleazy call in salesman who isn't really interested in helping you solve any actual problems you might have. Just in to make a quick buck. High integrity for sure.
The ultimate sales person. There's something extremely intriguing about him but also something very disturbing and creepy. I wonder with these talented sales people if they're ever truly themselves. I'd like to see how they act with their friends, wives, husbands or parents. I get the feeling that they're always putting on an act. Maybe they're all sociopaths/psychopaths?🤔
Tony is the real deal. The example of selling tapes he admits the trap aspect is sleazy and did not repeat it. The thing to take away is the questions and building value. The bottom line is life is sales! Yes, he is out to make money...who isn't! There is not one product I purchased that I did not get value from him!

I think he addresses this part way through where explicitly explains that he's telling this story to demonstrate the power of the closing. He calls out how he wouldn't any longer do this as it doesn't align with his integrity. He also states that he's highlighting it so that viewers are aware of the power of such techniques and it reduces their chances of being taken advantage of.

One thing I was taught in Marketing courses is this. You don't ask people questions that can answer yes or no. For example, if you operating a house painting business, you don't ask, "Do you want your house painted?" They can just say no. You ask, "Will that be a check or on a credit card?"

To smirk at “only” closing 1/3 people, you have likely never been in sales. A $1000 sale from a cold phone call and a single visit is insanity. Just think about that happening to you, it probably feels impossible that someone who didn’t know you could reach out to you and persuade you to spend that much on any product or service (ESPECIALLY if that product or service wasn’t solving a very specific need of yours). People who are a lot like you and me splurged on this after his sales pitch. The desire to be perceived as consistent is very powerful and can get the better of many people as Robbins pointed out.
I’m sure this is from the sales training seminar Tony Robbins did via video. I’d love to see all the videos of the sales seminar. I attended it in London in early 2000s and was excellent NLP sales training.

Goes to show you he's never not been who he is. He wanted to be this person since he was a teenager and was working towards it from the beginning. Adult behavior change is very difficult. If you're past your mid 30s: embrace who you are, who you've always been and stop trying to be something you've never been and probably will never become. It's okay to not be a superstar. Just learn what you need to to earn a living and do your best to be content with the simple pleasures that life has to offer. You can and learn and grow and achieve, too, but don't stake your happiness on it. And don't underestimate the value of who you are right now.
