The sound of your voice reading and explaining stats is very pleasing to my ears. Your alway calm, analytical and logical. I like that. Have ever considered working as some form gameplay designer. Seems it could be fitting you quite well.
G3A3 and MPT-76 are the ARs you are looking for. And the Honey Badger carbine in the .300 AAC blackout cartridge, the IMI Negev LMG chambered in 7.62 or the HK21 LMG.
I think the vz-58 would be an ideal high rof heavy hitter, as it shoots at 800rpm and fires the kalashnikov round, also it would require a new gun model (not so much with a aek-973, which looks pretty much like a normal aek-971), which is a good thing.
I think part of the lack of variety isn't just an issue with weapons. It's an issue with gameplay overall. For example, the median engagement distance of 17m is also contributed to by other factors, especially map design. Another part (IMO) is that even weapons with different roles tend to still be fully automatic with anything outside that description being gimped (ie. BARs, XM-25 until recently, etc.). I also think a lot of this has to do with internal DICE / EA stuff that Symthic can't really discuss in any scientific / mathematical way because it comes down to corporate politics (trying to push a certain type of gameplay - run n' gun assault rifle style).
I like the idea of the Battle Rifle class making it into future game but not necessarily going over the top with weapon numbers. That being said we don't yet know the setting of BF5, it could have entirely fictional weapons.
I just wish that they could go back to the way it was in BF3, where Carbines was an Engineer exclusive and Recons had the DMR and PDW's where an all kit class. I know this isn't exactly relatet to the video, but i had to get it out somewhere :P
i know that this is really outdated now , but i still come back to these kind of videos, along with the ones from chris ..bf 1982 , really makes me wanna play that ficticious but awesome game , its just two guys trying theires best to get a better bf edit march/2024 : please give this guy and Chris from battlenonsense a team and money to make the perfect fps game ! there are no better consultors than these
The problem with weapon balance is the developers won't give guns different damages if their using the same caliber. Guns will have the same damage per shot and range if they share the same ammo. Guns in the same weapon class share the same base accuracy as well. BF developers need to be more willing to change those 2 weapons stats. Such as giving the shotguns their own unique pellet counts, pellet damage along with their own other stats. Another thing they have to fix is the PDW class. The PDW class should either shoot faster or do more damage in close range then all other weapons minus 1 shot kill weapons. Currently in BF4 there are assault rifles that shoot as fast as some PDWs with better damage per shot upclose with better accuracy and recoil. This is a problem because the armor perk is still very popular. Then most of the slower firing PDWs don't even have range and/or damage advantages against other weapons outside the class some within the PDW class.
I love your videos man! Highly interesting content with a great voice to it, a voice of reason aswell. Personally I'd love to see a support weapon from IMI in-game. While I realize that a potential 1000 rpm 7.62 (Negev) would be very hard to balance, it could be tweaked down to perhaps a 900 rpm 5.56 or a 750-ish rpm 7.62. Seeing as Dice already has so much of the Galil family, I think an LMG of the same heritage would be fitting.
I'd love to see a G11 implemented somehow (I just love the design). It could be an aggresive CQB oriented LMG? 20 damage max? 2100rpm burstfire? Extremely high recoil and spread increase? The 4.7 caseless would have a higher velocity, since its a slightly smaller round than the 5.56. I am still all for making the G36 a 750rpm weapon, to fill that gap with the carbines. Perhaps make the CZ805 fire at 800rpm (something close to what it fires in real life).
the gilboa snake would be very interesting, its an Israeli 5.56 AR based on the m4 platform, the thing is, that it has 2 barrels, and 2 different magazines. if dice would have implemented the gun in the game, how do you think that it would have work?
What do you think about adding the PP-19 Bizon to the PDW:s. It has a 64 shot magazine and shoots about 650 RPM. It has a 9mm caliber and it looks really authentic. It was in bf3 with 900 RPM and 19 damage. But if you have a 700 RPM and maybe 20-25 damage. I'd really like it in the game. What do you think?
if you do this, run into the scenerio in which a weapon is compared to a different weapon class rather than the one it was originally in. If a long range carbine is slightly worse then a long range assault rifle, why not just use the assault rifle in the first place? It eventually leads to creating (possibly disbalanced) copy-cat weapons, just overlapping in different weapon types rather then the same weapon type like we have now. In this case, a close quarters AR is going to be compared to Carbines/PDWs rather than ARs just because it's stats are similar. Or a long range Carbine/PDW is just going to be compared to a AR. And considering Assault Rfiles are already the best at most scenerios, it is just going to make it so the Medic is even more stacked. Imagine a AEK like you described in the video. High damage model and high RoF but super inaccurate. Why would anyone use a Carbine/PDW over this? It would be the best close range weapon and that is all that matters. If your using a weapon of this sort (such as a close range Carbine or PDW), your all-ining on short range engagements anyway. At that point, it doesn't matter if a CZ or AS VAL are slightly better at mid-long range engagements then it. It would just create a situation where assualt rifles are used in every setting in the game (rather then having Carbines/PDWs sometimes be better in close range). Even if you nerfed this weapon to the level of a close range Carbine/PDW, you just end up with the same problem we began with, MORE COPY-CAT WEAPONS. Except this time it is weapon types that are overlapping. This is just one example, but it just shows how one weapon would make a whole weapon type irrelevant. Sorry if I explained it badly, it's kind of difficult to grasp.
We don't need any more weapon roles. It's not that we don't have enough roles it's that not every role is balanced perfectly. We don't need another 7.62 weapon. The 7.62x61 & burst ar/carbines just need an ads still accuracy increase by 50%,spread increase by 20%, & 20% worse hipfire, ads moving accuracy, & 10% more vertical recoil then it'll be balanced. Right now the heavy hitters just feel like ace's w/a limited magazine & more spread. The burst rifles feel like the most accurate weapons but not as easy to use. I think the M16A4 is best assault rifle in BF4 while in BF3 it was the G3A3
+DamonDay814 M16A4 is best when mastered. Yes each role is balanced, why else can the QBZ beat the AEK at range. But why do we need a massive nerf that you mentioned? The bursts are fine as well the 7.62 rifles, they are harder to use but can perform better than the other guns. That's why we need them, there is a slight skill gap from the new players and those guns because they are much harder to use but perform overall better in most scenarios. And yes we need more 7.62 because we have so little, and your argument about how they "feel" makes me want to slap some sense into you. You are trying to use an objective, non factual "feel" reason to not make the game better? I laugh at your stupid attempt.
+Dat Guy 1. I wasn't trying to use how it "feels" as an objective point, I was just stating my opinion so there was absolutely no reason to be arrogant about it. 2. I wasn't trying to nerf the burst & 7.62s, I am trying to make them more specialized by giving them higher accuracy+spread w/ a bit worse handling 3.Ok then, lets get objective. Since the damage nerf patch, the SCAR H ttk is similar to an 800rpm weapon. The SCAR H pre patch had a ttk similar to an 870rpm-900rpm. It's only advantage over versatile rifles is its ttk,& damage drop off while it is virtually inferior at everything else(it's on symthic too) 4.We don't need more battle rifles. Dice already can't balance every gun, & we already have 15(I think assault rifles). The Bulldog is for CQ & The SCAR H is for range. The Famas & burst rifles also fill the "high skill, high reward model"you were talking about. Also attachments like the heavy barrel & ergo grip can make the gun a "high skill, high reward" weapon. If we added more battle rifles we'd just have a BF Hardline Battle Rifle problem, where some guns dominate others.
I can see them giving the AK-12 that 7.62x39mm Russian round instead of its original stats. all they just have to change is the curve of the magazine and the recoil, bullet spread, and rate of fire. G3A4 sounds like another great idea. or another would be the HK417 which does fire the 7.62x56 mm NATO (correct me if I'm wrong on the round).
that tow shot was jus amazing!!! I love every gun in bf4, well 99 percent of them. I don't think so many people would still be playing the game had there been way less weapons. I fear they gonna shave it down in future ones but I hope not. hmmm am I really making a mistake running hydra's? or do u run with both?
cover semi auto,s an lmg,s in ya next vid. really good point about actually variance. i,d be well up for seeing those weapons dropped in especially the g3 an hcar.
another nice video about weapons... i think modern 7.62x39 mm AK12 could be introduced and replace 5.45mm one. but AK is best with all the battle worn classic look . AK47 (with the stats you suggested) i mean that would awesome.....
Most weapons are accurate to real life, only the ACE guns arent. ACE 23/21s firerate should be 700. I believe that was a deliberate change to make the gun appealing to people who missed the M16A3.
Marble could you tell me the point of the ump9 in bf4? I love but am puzzled by it at the same time and would like your opinion because I really don't understand the stats
Why only higher caliber weapons? Why not try to experiment with some lower base damage guns? Like a gun with a lower base damage up close, but a higher than average min damage at range? That could make a good suppression lmg if it is given a high rof, and good spread. Also I wouldn't count on new BF4 guns as BF5 comes out in less than a year. Maybe weapons like the ones you suggested will be in that game.
althrough not well known there is a gun called AK-109 which has about 800 ~ 900 rpm rate of fire with 7.62x39 mm round and i think that could be also interesting aince it has 3 shot burst firing mode as well www.moddb.com/members/perun58/images/modern-ak-ak-107
These are all great ideas. But, I thought an AN-94 shot only 5.45, not 7.62 of any kind. Also, I just googled "LCZB 10" and "LCZB 20" but nothing came up.
TKB-022: no. If you're gonna do a russian bullpup, at least use the modern version: the Saritch 308. EDIT: As for ideas: -PDW's: could use a SAR wannabe in the SCAR-P or some sort of M4a1-based pistol. -Battle Rifles: you said the M416 doesn't come in 7.62mm NATO, but it does: it's just called the M417. Also: the Magpul Massoud is a thing. -Russian-caliber guns: Sig Sauer's MCX (think MPX's big brother/better Honey Badger) can chamber 7.62x39mm. Also could go with a 7.62x39 AK-12 cuz IDGAF if there's too many of them. -Unique calibers: ARX-160 or CZ-805 could go to Remington's 6.8mm SPC or 7.62x39mm. Possible damage model would be 25-20. -MG's: a .338 Lapua machine gun would be cool. I know such a thing exists but I'm blanking on the name. -DMR's: Mk12 Mod 0. Essentially a semi-only M16 with a damage model akin to what the SKS had initially (38-28) -Semi-auto sniper rifles: VSK-94 and VSS. -Shotguns: a non-Russian mag-fed semi-auto would be nice. I think Crye Precision's Six12 would be a nice addition cuz motherfucking revolvers. Also: the DP-12 would be a cool hybrid since it's a pump-action that fires two shots before racking it. -Sidearms: gibe Vz.61 Skoprion. I geev no sheets if outdated gibe Gibe GIBE
marble speaking of semi auto sniper rifles how about SVDK FIRING 9.3X64 MM a middle power round heavier than 7.62X54 mmR DMR round .... could be another semi auto fun sniper rifle... en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › SVDK
+MarbleDuck I don't want to sound like a smart ass but AEK-971/AEK-971S/A-545 shoots 5,45 only with 900 rpm. (Early prototype had 1500 rpm in automatic mode and it was lately decreased to 900). Starting speed speed of bullet: 880 m/s AEK-972 uses 5.56 nato Starting speed speed of bullet: 850 m/s AEK-973/A-762 uses 7,62x39 and RPM with this type of ammo will be decreased to ~800. Starting speed speed of bullet: 730 m/s
+Krusty Komedy Classic The entire PDW class is full of obsolete weapons. There's no need for the submachine gun to any extent in any military, yet we have an entire class of them in BF4. On top of that, the AK12 is still not adopted by the Russian military, the AN94 is only issued to a very small group of soldiers, the M16 has been replaced (or will be, in the near future) by the M4, the UTS is a prototype in that it's a minimally-functioning PoS... I could go on. The point is that many weapons we have ALREADY in BF4 aren't widely used by any military. So I'm simply keeping with the theme that the developers have established.
The sound of your voice reading and explaining stats is very pleasing to my ears. Your alway calm, analytical and logical.

Dude apply for a job at Dice already they need you.

not even funny. :|
Visceral doesn't deserve people that know what they're doing.
+taiiat0 that was a joke...

I would love the Dragunov SVU as a sniper for the recon class.
VSS Vintorez would add something new.
of course. but another semi auto would be nice too.
I would love seeing my precious G3 come back. Loved it back in BF3.
keep up stuff like this, I love hearing you're thoughts and ideas about the game. I think that dice should really look into this.
I feel that a lot of these roles could be reached with just changing stats of current guns.
Not to take away from the dialogue (and the point of the video), but your TOW and primary missile aim are both on point.
+sgtshiyo2 Thanks :D
Uhm, all the CZ-805 needs is a change of caliber to the russian 7.62x39!
Have a good Christmas ... Always good to watch your vids

A new Marbleduck video! Thanks Santa!
Have a good Christmas Ducky! Enjoy yourself, everyone that reads this.
I like the idea of the Battle Rifle class making it into future game but not necessarily going over the top with weapon numbers. That being said we don't yet know the setting of BF5, it could have entirely fictional weapons.
i just put this video in background while working on something, bf4 mechanics and calm talking makes everything better
Dice, hire this man.

I think something like the welrod would be a good addition and would increase the popularity of stealth gameplay
Good stuff as always. BTW - *fewer* weapons, not less. Plural.

you know what weapon we have that doesn't have any similar qualities to others? The Phantom Bow :P
Can't wait for Marble Duck to destroy Levelcap's "consistency" video.

I think allowing players to pick different calibers or grain weights would solve these problems.
I think that recon could do with a full auto sniper, such as the hk 417
I'd like a realistic damage model (1-2 shot kill max in almost all circumstances) and more visual recoil with far less random spread
+Felix Prescod we don't need a barret .50 cal if that's what your saying :P
Battlefield will NEVER be like this. "Close" to this is CS GO.
I'd like to see the RK-95 over the AKM if for no other reason that because no game has it.
JUST GIVE ME MY FUCKIN FULL AUTO M16 AND M4
LMG with higher rpm than 800? If that was to get added, metro would get a whole lot worse. Though I would like to see one like it in the game.

Why only higher caliber weapons? Why not try to experiment with some lower base damage guns? Like a gun with a lower base damage up close, but a higher than average min damage at range? +jrauch6 The 6mm ACR in BF3 did the lower base, higher minimum model and was pretty fun to use.
+SlugFromA .45 yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking about
Is there any reason for the specific H-Rec values you've chosen? Or are they random?
An AKS-74U would make things interesting
Why were you using the big bag and the little bag? :o
Would a 1000 RPM LMG (cough cough Negev) fit into BF4?
Marble, do you run with Field of View Scaling in ADS off? Also, love your videos, you do a great job of explaining things.
+Shawn Louie Yes, always. I like having smaller FoV while ADS.

How many of available weapons in bf4 do you use besides aek, ace?
Best youtuber, ever.
I just want my G3 back, it's been my most used weapon in every Battlefield it's been in and they took it away from me. :'(
id like to see the mg3 come back
makes me miss the G3 in BFBC2
EA should just make 10 guns per class soo it wont be hard to balance the wepob.
TKB-022: no. If you're gonna do a russian bullpup, at least use the modern version: the Saritch 308. EDIT: As for ideas:
-PDW's: could use a SAR wannabe in the SCAR-P or some sort of M4a1-based pistol.
Essentially a semi-only M16 with a damage model akin to what the SKS had initially (38-28)
-Semi-auto sniper rifles: VSK-94 and VSS.
Nice work
are...are you double baggin' in the first clip dude?
+closecombat211 Yeah! Regen is so fast with double bags.
+MarbleDuck lmao works for me man :P
6.2mm ACR when?
marble speaking of semi auto sniper rifles how about SVDK FIRING 9.3X64 MM
a middle power round heavier than 7.62X54 mmR DMR round .... could be another semi auto fun sniper rifle...
en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › SVDK
Is it a big bag or a little bag problem?
The AEK platform actually in real life has very low recoil
+skybot2000 pff, realism? Wuts dat?
shhh
CC-01/425 balance is far more important than realism, imagine an aek973 with low recoil...
I know, just saying.
Are you saying we need a 33 damage per shot gun with a HIGH fire rate? Kiss all other guns goodbye then, this would be the only one used
Yeah the AEK-973 is a stupid idea, but the rest?
Yeah, because the suggested ludicrously combined side to side recoil isn't enough for balancing it, ok. Come on dude ...
marble duck for a job at dice!!
bfh has heavy hiting assault rifles thats nice why not in bf4 thats another i have with dice
+Jonny AJ Those arent assault rifles, those are battle rifles.
+Tom 2142 not true there is the akm and rpk and much other
I want to see a Humvee style vehicle with a grenade launcher on it
Too much slavshit. Add a 300 BLK AR/carbine for an alternative to the AKM.
Wrong about aek
+MrXazownzhard What?
+MarbleDuck I don't want to sound like a smart ass but AEK-971/AEK-971S/A-545 shoots 5,45 only with 900 rpm. (Early prototype had 1500 rpm in automatic mode and it was lately decreased to 900). Starting speed speed of bullet: 880 m/s
AEK-972 uses 5.56 nato Starting speed speed of bullet: 850 m/s
AEK-973/A-762 uses 7,62x39 and RPM with this type of ammo will be decreased to ~800. Starting speed speed of bullet: 730 m/s
+MrXazownzhard dude, we don't want realism, we want a balanced game with fun qualities. :P
I was drunk. I felt like I had to answer.
no worries mate, I was drunk too :P
Mp5 and m4 a1
Dice! AKM Please!
Your a rabbit with all that hopping around.
wow I like you, you like seen very smart dude
How else watches for the gameplay lol
I like your videos but these guns should never exist in a BF game other than the akm
Agreed to some extent as quite a few guns he mentioned are prototypes or have barely been used in the military.
+MarbleDuck I believe the AK-12 was actually rejected, it satisfied their needs but they simply don't need a replacement.
+MarbleDuck bf4 is set in 2020, so the ak-12 would maybe be in use
"parcel is worst map"
The ugliest gun im crying lol
