I just got back from the range. My Uberti Courteney Stalking Rifle in .303 Brit. Shot Sub MOA Groups, with a 30mm 1-6 power Burris Scope. I was careful to season the barrel, Swabbing it and let it cool between shots. Wow! I am impressed!!!
Hi mate. I have one of these on order in .303. Just out of interest how many shots did it take to run her in?. And what bullet heads did you find shot good in it?. I'm looking at using Hornady 150 interlock. I assume you reload.
Lawrence, couldn't agree with you more! I'm 70 years old and have shot most African antelope species from steenbuck to eland and never used a scope.Iron sights are adequate for most hunting situations. From South Africa.
I really do wish that at least ONE rifle manufacturer on the planet would take a rifle similar to this and snub their nose at scope shooters altogether and please, in the name of everything holy, put some thought into making REALLY GOOD, USABLE iron sights. I don't care for scopes, I don't like scopes, and I never EVER will use a scope, and it has been my experience that rifle manufacturers don't even know how to make good iron sights any more. For instance, the sights on this gun need a screw driver to adjust, and when you do, you are only adjusting for a single load at a single range. That's good up close, but useless if you all of a sudden need to make a longer shot.
I hear you, Lawrence--great comment. I work with a manufacturer (actually I'm the person behind the Courteney) and I can attest that this is a real issue. You see, sights are usually sourced with specialized manufacturers--or else what may seem like a simple project to you and me would turn into an expensive R&D quest that would drive up costs considerably for the gun manufacturer. Add to this the fact that nowadays most people use scopes, and you get an expensive venture that few really appreciate. That of the slotted quarter rib was a tough decision, but in the end most hunters will use a scope.
Thats the nicest mass produced machine cut checkering I've ever seen.

Selous is NOT pronounced SELL-us. The correct pronunciation is sel-OO.
