Mwhaahah. Nice one fella.
If you look hard enough you will find a 3mm head with a rose behind it.
Good stuff mate, very useful info for muppets like me who have no clue what to buy 😀
Nice one mate . Was literally asking in Phil's stream last night about trinocular scope stuff. These links will be handy af. 👌
Those .35 and .5x reducers meant for the camera port work really well in my experience. They have their own independent focus ring that can be turned to focus the camera. Keep in mind that the eye pieces on your microscope can also be independently focused.
The way I set mine is to get the microscope to a height in which the focus for for my eyes is good, then I adjust the focus ring on the reducer to get it just right with the camera. Camera's that don't have their own focus control should be fine on those reducers. If they're slightly out of focus that's where those .5mm spacers come in.
Good vid Wayne!
👍
Cheers Dan. Yeah, it's absolutely down to personal preference. I kept repeating the point that it was my opinion. I had no luck with the larger ones. I just couldn't get the working distance I wanted / needed and the focus at the same time.
Each situation is gonna differ, which was why I linked what I had. Hopefully that covers my backside if and when people tell me I'm wrong.
@@GetRefurbed Yeah to be fair, microscopes are basically witchcraft
@@NewRetroRepair isn't most of what we do wizardry and witch draft? 😂
@@GetRefurbed I need your contact number. I am facing some issues with my microscope adjustment. Could u please help fix them...?
I need to contact you in whatsapp
The last ring you binned is indeed a spacer,it's for CS/C mount, one is 12.5mm the other 17.5mm focal length. It is useful for people who are into adapting photo lens to their security cam or webcam.
Thanks for the video, great information here!
The "spacer" is a C-mount to CS-mount adapter. It is pretty much a spacer, but a very precise one for a specific use. There's a precise, fixed and absolute difference in focal distance between C and CS. If the rest of your equipment is CS, then by using that adapter the focal point will be spot on and you won't get focus issues that compound/pile on through your lens stack.
Thanks mate! Very usefull!!!
I can't even figure out how to focus and use the eye cups. I've always struggled with binoculars, it's like my eyes are fighting me. And the view is mostly dark. Hopefully I'll have better luck with a camera. Thank you for the additional information.
Very informal thank you Wayne 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Very informative. thanks for sharing.
Hope it helped in some way ob1
Great video pal, I've searched alot on things around this on youtube and you dont get any answers really. I do love a personal opinion, dont get these they are crap. I will certainly be using some of yr links etc
If yr thinking of a follow up video at all would you mind including a split screen, one showing the board view camera and the second showing an angle where u can see the distance between scope and board. When you have your hot air gun between these aswell, is it tight at all.
Many thanx for this video fella, it really has helped
Stay safe
Absolutely buddy. I can do that, if not on a video, we can jump on a discord call and I can show you.
@@GetRefurbed sounds like a plan. Much appreciated
Great information mate 👍 👌 👏 so enjoy your videos 📹 😊 please keep them coming 🙏 👍 and here to help get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone 😀 😊 👍...cheers mate 👍 👌
Always appreciate the support Roger!
Great video. Is there a way to replace the fixed 0.5 adaptor with an adjustable focus lens in the monocular you showed at 00:03:13?
Good info!
Good stuff, amazing how much stuff you have to go through to find something that actually works!!
Should have seen this video before. My bitter experience is,got this 0.35x adaptor for my trinocular scope as a result the image either clear in eypieces or on camera.Couldn't get the same quality on both either or. But if I put some 4-5mm washer between the scope input and 0.35x lens both images get the same on quality. Thus, ordered at ali this c to cs focal extemder ring of 5mm. But if I knew 0.35x is a crap would straight have gone for that stm 1/3 adapter(((
Would it be possible to film and focus further away using the proscope attached to an iPhone? I want to see if I can use old c-mount cine lenses attached.
Hello,
I recently purchased an Amscope CL-SM-3T-V203 microscope. I have watched some of your videos about microscopes, and camera mountings. I wanted purchase a .035 or a 0.5X C-mount Camera adapter for my microscope, but I cannot seem to find one that is compatible. I contacted the people at Amscope and they did not seem to know what I was talking about. The camera mounting port on my microscope is 28mm. nonthreaded. Would you be able to recommend a camera adapter?
Thanks
a 43mm step up ring for filter are fit for this barlow m42?
Wayne that is very useful as I always thought the 0.5X Adapter Lens 38mm C-Mount was better than SZM CTV 1/3. So you advise the SZM CTV 1/3 with that adapter on ebay and the Barlow lens 0.5 X and that would of course depend on what type of microscope and lens we have in our setup. What I can gather is that now you prefer microscope rather than the mono digital camera setup you had using the screen? Just a suggestion, would you compare them in a video and which one is better in your view as you have used both of them?
Hey, I personally use the SZM CTV 1/2 (Not the 1/3) in conjunction with the 0.5x Barlow lense. I would absolutely love to do the side by side comparison but I need to get another camera in order to be able to do so. It's something that I think will be beneficial as a couple of people have asked for the real world scenario. Hope it helped in some way.
@@GetRefurbed Thank you Wayne and yes you are correct that was a typo as I meant the 1/2. Would be useful if you do go ahead with the comparison.
Thanks for the video
I connected it to the camera without the bottom part of the adapter you used. Unfortunately, the edges show blur. Clarity only appears in the centre. But I have seen those adapters that you do not like from a few sellers, and they do not cause blur at the edges. Why do you think the edges show blur?
It's just the height between the focal lenses. Get the adapters and you'll be good to go.
@@GetRefurbed hi. Should I buy the lenses at minute 10:54 of the video?
@@GetRefurbed I did as you said. The problem is that I focused it on the monitor. everything is beautiful. But when I looked at it with glasses, it showed blur. So I couldn't regulate both at the same time.
This is a very usefull video for noobs like me :) Thanks buddy ☺
Glad to hear that!
All I got from that is you've had the lugs lowered 🤣🤣😘
Haha. Aye. Earlier today
I like the video very helpful i just wish their was a good second hand market for scopes as their damn expensive
So the monocular lenses you showed with the Eakins camera from ali express do you know of a way to mount this on a double boom arm ?
The amscope you use is it the 3.5x 45x or 3.5x 90 or is it one of the other variations as their are many and its not really explained the differences as their is also a 7x-45x and the 20x 40x 90x
i know you use an over head camera for streaming is it possbile to just use this instead of using a scope or is it just not possible as im guessing your head might get in the way ?
The cheapest way i can think to get started would be mounting a lense on a smart phone and use a microscope app i think phil did mention one that was good but im still not sure you would get a good enough working area
There is a way to mount the Ali express camera on a double boom arm. If you search for New Retro Repair here on YT he has a video explaining it all.
The zoom I use is a 7 - 45x but the 0.5x lense will halve that.
I believe you could use a smart phone. But I don't think I would recommend it. Logistically it would be a nightmare although there are macro lense attachments you can get that in sure would help.
Definitely a minefield buddy.
If the smart phone has good rear camera and has mini/micro HDMI or USB 3.0 output then you are good to go,USB 2.0 will give headaches.
I think it has to do with your eyepieces and the sensor size of the camera. If you have 10x eyepieces, then probably your sensor is 1/2" or 1/1.8'', and that is why 0.5x C-mount works for you. (PS: I am far from knowledgeable in the area)
