They cancelled this storyline a year early for some reason making these scenes seem bizarre. Max told Phil to make this lie up on Wilmot Brown's orders due to Wilmots scheme to destroy Walford and its residents.
@@matthewdoyle3877 I looked it up and I watched the episode and aftermath and onwards, the second car lot fire in march 1996 was actually Barry was responsible for it. He hired a hitman to scare Frank but instead Phil got trapped in it.

This storyline was a disgrace to Jase Dyer. He was a good character who deserved better.
This was a lie anyway. Pointless storyline.
this storyline was pointless. it ended soon after this and Jay went back to believing Jase was his dad
I remember when eastenders did this story and thought what was the point it literal had no importance
I remember this. But the Man he called Dad is still his Dad. There is more to Fatherhood than Biology.
Yeah jase is still his dad and no one can tell me eirher
@Cameron Hawthorn Except Jay didn't choose to have Jase as his dad, Jase has been his dad before Jay was even born.
It was later revealed that jase was actually his dad
Wrong
Jase is his dad this was a storyline

aww Jay :(
I knew that Phil was lying the whole time. Didn’t believe for a second that Alan Hall was Jay’s dad.
What was even the point? Why retcon the story of perfectly good character, who in my eyes will always be Jays real dad. Forget this silly shit
Don't worry they retconned it back again by saying Max blackmailed Phil to lie to Jay. Stupid story though.
Maybe cuz the writers wanted to keep Phil and Jay apart for a little while again.
This was a stupid storyline just ruined all the good memories of the good years of eastenders it’s shit now
I remember Frank asked Phil to burn the car lot. Who burned the second car lot in 1996 again. Anyone know.
Look it up on Google

Copying Coronation Street with the Nicola and Phelan storyline.
Kirsty Hert all soaps copy eachother.
But is jase was his real dad or Alan hall was his real dad
It was later revealed that Jase was his actual dad
This was all Max's doing!!
Making Phil throw this lie onto Jay mess up his head!!
An entire 2 hander episode all based on a lie 🤥🤥
Basically phil killed jays dad
What were the writers thinking of ?
