Hey folks I know this will divide opinions but what do you think ??
I Think that at minute 5.06, you introduced the Azores, but the photos are from Madeira Island ...
Other alternatives in Italy:
Visit Venice but stay in Treviso
Visit Verona and Padua but stay in Vicenza
Lake Garda instead of Lake Como
Blow through Milan if you must but spend more time in Turin
These are not "overrated" places.
It's mass tourism that ruins everything.
People find a wonderful place. They tell other people how beautiful it is and everyone goes there. At that point, the place is not wonderful anymore
Don’t ever go anywhere in the summer; stay home and enjoy your friends and families. Go to anywhere in March, October and you’ll be rewarded
Yeah convince my job to let me go in vacation in March or October instead of July and August
People don't do enough research! You have to visit the very popular and obvious places ONCE like Venice, Paris, Rome and the like but then you should venture out to the less known places like Bergamo (Wonderful), Trieste, Abruzzo , Ravenna - those sort of places. You have to do your research first!
I'm going to take issue with the choice of words. None of these places are overrated. They are highly rated and that is what has made them overcrowded, at least for parts of the year. Each of them deserves to be visited but, as you say, at different times of the year. Still, I like all of your alternatives, too. Each of them are excellent in their own right and people will not be disappointed.
Taormina is just as famous as the Amalfi coast and is just as packed with tourists
Taormina was the only place in Sicily where we had to stand in line, walk past souvenir stands, and experience tour bus traffic jams. Pretty views, yes, but no genuine town life. We got out of there pronto.
@@HH-fo9sg it is a wonderful place, worth visiting anyway
@@Fra42below, yes, very pretty views-as I am sure Amalfi has too
I’d hardly call Europe “overrated”. You’ve spent years telling viewers of all the great places you’ve enjoyed yourself! Not right. I can understand saying it’s overcrowded with tourism, but not “overrated”.
overrated doesnt mean bad. It means worse than commonly perceived. Overrated is the correct description
@@arielmizrahi9289 *Correct in your opinion. I would say that given the political climate in many places the have become less desirable than before the current travel wave crushed over destinations.
The French Riviera has a bunch of small little towns that are amazing, like Menton. They wont be empty, but not as crowded as Nice.
Wanted to add my 2c about the Algarve and the Azores as have traveled both extensively. Did both off-season (April) and.....Algarve was actually fantastic off peak. Great food, relaxed vibe and not too touristy. Azores off season was pissing with rain, sideways, the whole time. It was very cool nonetheless, but it is not comparable to white sandy beaches.
The Azores is a more adventurous destination. It is not for a relaxing beach holiday - the beaches are black sand and the Atlantic can get very angry. Can highly recommend staying at the Azores Wine Company in Pico - one of the most uniquely wonderful off-track hotel's I've ever been to.
Also just want to mention there are definitely a few Madeira clips in that Azores section - they are not the same place!
I thank Lifestyle Hal for making this video, thumbs up, hopefully many will watch it and take note. The less you tourists come over here, mostly from the US and UK, the better we locals will stay and nobody will bother us ! 😒 Plz stay home, thx.
Simple answer is go to all the first picks but go may or October, its that easy 😂
Just stay at home and there will be no overtourism!
Always like that you give people new places and ideas that are relatively unheard of. Unfortunately in the north west of England, these places aren't easy to get to. Yes easier from London and that is unfortunately why the overcrowded is where we will end up
Kotor can be an alternative only for Dubrovnik.. close, similar, less crowded and cheaper
The whole of Toscana is overcrowded.
Or skip it all and go to North and South America. Not as crowded, similar spectacular views and cheaper. Plus no protest in the street to tell you (tourists) to go home....like Spain.
@@mjmj240, there are tourist crowds in U.S. tourist areas
Been to both and it's not the same vibe, Europe is something special that you just don't get anywhere else
@@M7TOPGEAR live in miami, in barcelona now for vacation... These places are not the same lol
👋🏼 Small struggling Travel Channel here. I love your content, thanks for this great video! You inspire me to keep grinding my channel, maby one day I’ll grow as big as you 🥲
In your section about the Azores, you mostly show places in Madeira. They are different places 👍
I'd recommend Bellagio in northern Italy 😁
I'd love to see your suggestions for an October holiday.
Me too.
Can you be more specific? What kind of things to you like to do and see when travelling, and how long will you go for?
I don't know what kind of vacation you like, but personally for October I would stay in wonderful, amazing Cordoba and do day trips to Sevilla and Granada, plus a few days in Madrid if you like. It's a couple hours by high-speed train. People who do Cordoba as just a quickie day trip are really missing out!
My immediate thoughts are anywhere in the Mediterrainian area. I would never go there in July-August and risk 35-40° C!
@@CaptCanuck4444 probably Europe - we have been to the USA in the autumn and fancy something a bit warmer. I love the sea/beach plus some culture and old villages.
Hallstatt was honestly the worst one for me, I was completely unaware of it at the time. I regret going there and troubling Austrians living in this tiny town.
The Algarve is a NIGHTMARE in summer. Very expensive, difficult to park, supermarket queues and packed beaches. This year we're seeing fewer tourists as people wake up to the fact that other places are much better value and more welcoming (Greece, for example). In the Algarve the locals celebratewhen the tourists leave...they put up with them (as they bring money) but there is an undercurrent of resentment. BIG housing problems too for the locals. Noisy, crowded, expensive (except for cheap wine) #avoid
at 5:24 that is Madeira, not the Azores
You believe that's Funchal? No it is not.
This is great, much needed with the current state of travel
Naxos unfortunately has been discovered and was ridiculously crowded this Summer, 2024
Go to Melos instead.
Talking about the Azores and showing pictures of Madeira island doesn’t do much for your vídeo credibility-wise…
Can’t swap Azores for Algarve or Kotor for Nice, completely different experiences.
Although the Azores is Amazing, it is not really comparable with Algarve, because they are totally different types of holidays. I would suggest instead to go to "Costa Vicentina" in Alentejo and visit Porto Covo and the crystal clear waters there, or go to "Arrabida" in Setubal and Troia which are amazing as well with emerald crystal clear waters. If you want just the beach and relax, you can go to Porto Santo island in Madeira. It is basically 9km of empty turquoise waters. The reason the beach is mostly empty is because of the lack of accomodation there. So yeah, if you want to go to Porto Santo, you need to book in advance. Last year I spent a whole week in Porto Santo, and it was amazing. No crowds, and in the best beach of Portugal.
Kotor is also very crowded. Have you ever even been to the places you are recommending?
I'm pretty sure that at 5:59 it was Madeira instead of the Azores.
Try So#uth #frica garden route
great, thank you
Kotor is packed with too many tourists as well.
I won't tell you guys where, but as someone that has been to over 40 countries and most of Europe, there are A LOT of amazing places in Europe that most tourists never see. That's the sweet spot, if you're willing to put in a bit of extra effort.
Amalfi coast is the most disappointing place I've ever visited. Positano was AWFUL. Worth visiting once to see Pompeii, Herculaneum and Mount Vesuvius - and possibly Napoli if you're brave.
What makes you say visit Napoli if you're feeling brave?🤔 I just ask as I went years ago (when I was 8); i remember it being busy and quite rough round the edges, but I honestly don't remember too much (It was 20 years ago after all...). I'd be interested to hear what your experience of Napoli was like if you don't mind sharing 😊 and what made it difficult!
@@sleepybubbi9638 There is a lot of organized crime in Napoli, and a lot of petty crime as well. People generally can be very aggressive for trivial reasons, inconsiderate and rude, dirty (like throwing garbage everywhere) and will take the opportunity to cheat you if they can. Southern Italy has lots of beauty but unfortunately it's quite poor and many people will take advantage of other people if given the opportunity. Case in point, a taxi driver dropped off my mother in law and raced away with her luggage as soon as she set foot outside the taxi - with the door still open and her screaming. We only got the bags back (with no apology) by waving down another taxi and forcing him to radio the original driver with the threat that we'd call police and had photos of them both (a bluff).
Garden Route South Africa
@CaptCanuck4444 thats interesting, thank you- that's a shame to hear it was so rough/dodgy, as I remember it being quite pretty despite beung run down. And obviously great cheese and pizza. I do remember it being quite dirty, though, like you say.. Good work on getting the luggage back from that taxi!! Sounds like a bit of a nightmare holiday 😅
@@sleepybubbi9638 Ironically we finished our trip in the forgotten province of Molise, where very few tourists ever go, and loved it there. Very peaceful, and wonderful kind people who appreciated that we were there.
This is great
Very helpful video for visiting Europe. ♥♥
Just not realistic. Just garbage. Don't trust these kinds of videos
Taormina is one of the worst tourist traps I have ever been to tbh
😱🙄
I was just in Ibiza, it's not that crowded.
I disagree with Porto Venere. It's crowded like Cinque Terre.
I didn't find Lake Bled crowded at all.
Then you hit the jackpot
Just a note: Gosausee is some 7 km from Gosau village. How about Sankt Wolfgang instead, or is that also inundated by tourists?
Thx for the list we will try many of them... however we visited Porto Venere on a recommendation and found it terrible. We couldn't find a clean loo or decent coffee and the service was dreadful. Definitely not a good experience. Perhaps we were unlucky
Too bad there are so many places in Latin America that need more tourists
I thoroughly agree 👍
@@franciscofuentes8916 Buenos Aires is a secret city Americans need to discover
Wait a sec. Are you recommending that we don't visit Amalfi Coast but to go to Atrani also? Also what about going to Formentera without going to Ibiza? The idea of the video is great but some of the alternatives hardly make sense
Azores whit images of MADEIRA Island??
azores are truly not an alternative to portugal anything. it’s an entirely different vacation.
windy, cold, non tropical lol
Definitely, he used video from Modeira... and gives advice as if he knows something
Ibiza sobrevalorada? 😂😂😂😂 gran clima, mejor gastronomía del mundo, mejores discotecas del mundo, de las mejores playas de europa... Si eso es sobrevalorado 😂😂😂
Sardinia better than all of these
Do not agree with going to Taormina instead for a quieter time as since White Lotus th town and beaches are overrun with tourists. The beaches in particular are like people soup.
Firenze also pretty overrated and crowded AF
Firenze OVERrated? Are you insane?
Nobody will find the Gosthouse which you recommend instesd of Hallstatt 😂😂
Are we the over-tourists or is it everybody else?
We .. yes but I do blame the major travel companies
US is overrated but never EU!
Stay at home, spend your money there: you'll help to make your country great again! 😂
