Wow I never thought i'd see the day Ruban Nielson has a rig rundown!! My favourite guitarist, and band, seen them live live 3 times and incredible every time.
I was fortunate enough to go on tour with UMO and watch this being filmed live in Nashville! So cool to finally see Ruban on one of these and see how the rig rundown sausage is made!
I've been waiting for this forever, by far my favorite band and guitarist. Ruban seems so much more in his element talking about gear than in normal interviews. Thank you!!
Lucky owner of a B-1 chiming in, @baranikguitars is indeed a genius and such a cool dude to work with. This was my first custom build and I was for sure out of my element, but he helped steer me straight and I eventually ended up with a work of art I'll forever be inspired by. Seeing him then link up with Ruban was amazing, but also makes so much sense.
Love seeing Ruban on here, I feel like he is one of the premier modern guitar players, and UMO has put out some of my favorite songs of the past 10+ years. Saw them live in Philly a few years ago, and they crushed, definitely worth seeing.
You missed the final days of his last band. Absolute chaos, fist fights with his brother on stage and more. Good to see him in a better and more creative place.
Very excited to see you guys cover Ruban's rig! He's a killer guitar player, unconventional but super clever and creative. I've been following his material since the first record so yea super cool to see you guys cover him. I love Chris's quote "Shitty is pretty!" hahaha. So true! Love it!

I agree with Ruban's philosophy. Gear is meant to be used for music. Use the hell out of it, push it over the limit. It's all about the music, not the gear.

Been trying for hours to find the strap that he uses on the Baranik. It looks similar to the fender super deluxe strap, but the ends where the strap buttons go are widened out and reinforced in a way that looks both sturdier and cooler. Anybody have any idea what it is?

fascinating. the FOH engineer might be pleased to hear that there's now a way you can balance the dry and wet signal in a live setting so that the audience doesn't just get a windswept wash of quiet, flangey 300hz reverby mess.
D'Addario strings suck, I put some Pyramid flat wounds on my guitar and they lasted for 9 months with weekly rehearsals, gigs and very aggressive playing. I've had to now replace 2 but the others haven't even shown the slightest bit of rust. I don't even wipe them down after gigs.
