I pre-ordered mine from Andy Tran (the creator of the design philosophy of the knife) and waited four months, and I'm glad I did. It was HALF the price they are now. LOVE IT! I even made several kydex sheaths for it, but my favorite is an under the left arm rig that allows me to carry it reasonably concealed. Only recently did I finally get sick of nicking myself on that top edge, and I filed it dull and shiny. I also ditched that screwdriver deal on the end of the handle. I rounded it off and polished it smooth. It's the largest SMALL knife, or the smallest "big" knife, depending on how you look at it. At first you're like, holy shit that's huge.. but then you start using it and it's size and heft shrink and becomes very manageable. Heirloom quality. Take good care of it & pass it on to your son.
Thank you for your input! I ha e seen those kydex sheaths they make for it and i do want to get one, though i dont mind the nylon sheath it comes with. Ive heard some people say its a cheap sheath but i like that it has a pocket for a fs, and some loops on it,. But you said you made a sheath for it? Thats cool And then i dont mind the screw driver on there, it looks kinda weird but it seems it could have some uses like bashing things or prying i think youre right. This thing is quite amazing and it preform very well! An all around survival tool. Makes me want to get out somewhere for an excuse to use it! Haha
IMHO the Tahoma Field Knife is the best tool you can take to the wilderness. I won’t go into the bush without it. Bought my first one 9 years ago and my second one a month later. I got TOPS to serrate the top edge on my second one, similar to the Bianchi Nighthawk II. I like to have a serrated blade but can’t stand it on the primary edge. This was a great compromise. Andy Tran told me that IF he was going to serrate the blade that’s where he would put it. The screwdriver bit was put there by Andy so he could use it to set up his photography equipment. The hole is a bullet puller. The TFK is one of my five absolute favorite knives. 👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸 New subscriber here.
Damn i knew this was a beast of a knife, but im intrigued to hear so many people love this knife and rely on it! Im stoked to take it out in the field more. Also ive been wanting to get a kydex sheath for it aswell! And then i recently installed a lanyard from the two holes above and below the handle, and i gotta say it definitely improves the security of your grip Also very cool to hear that tops serrated the swedge for you! Like i didnt know they did custom mods like that?
Also stoked to have you as a subscriber!😁 btw i just posted a testing video of the bark river ultra lite field knife if you want to check it out. The knife is bad ass
@@straighttothepoint3477 I've had this knife for a few years and it tears your hands up something fierce. I ended up taking a grinder and rounding it off

I think its cool haha😂 though i will likely never use it as a screw driver! More of a bashing tool, or glass breaker for me
