Hi. Just found this video. It is great. I've just returned to archery after a gap of 20 years and am finding it harder than I anticipated, I also underwent a quad heart bypass 4 months ago. Currently I can do 2 reps, but I know this is good exercise. It's hard for me, but not dangerously so. Thank you. It's just what I need.
Excellent excercises. This is it. Thais exactly what Im after. Just playing the video and doing the excercises with you and at your pace is like having a coach standing by me. Got a little fatigued, but thats cause my stretch bands were too heavy. Loved it. Would love to do some new excercises in the same TRAIN WITH ME fashion. 8/10 difficulty considering the quite heavy bands I was pulling.
Thank you very much for your excellent channel. I'm about to begin archery; I'm female, 70yo, left-handed, with right rotator cuff damage from a skiing injury 30 years ago. I noticed something on your video: while you're only using one thickness of the yellow band for the side lat raises, you're using a doubled thickness for the other 3 exercises, which is the equivalent of a green band and too much for me. Therefore I altered the 3 later exercises to stick with a single thickness yellow band and I was then able to complete all 4 sets. Even like that it's definitely a 10 for me, lol!😊
*NOTE* - My expansion in the full draw holds demonstration is too 'downwards'. The elbow should come round the body more, so make sure to do this :) TIMESTAMPS: 00:35 - Side lat raise 00:45 - 5+4 01:25 - Elbow rotations 01:50 - Full draw hold 02:55 - CIRCUIT START
This was a 10, but really useful as a beginner - I've got a bit of a problem with not staying at full draw nearly long enough so I'm hoping this will help develop my strength and stability. Cheers!
I'd say 8/10 at the end but I'm sure this will help me to have more stability in my bow arm. I'm a beginner (started archery about 1 year and a half ago and I'm a senior, almost 59 years old) and the exercise with the elbow rotation was difficult for me. Haven't done this much but I guess by practicing it will get better and better. Thanks a lot. Your channel is very interesting and helps me a lot as I practice in a small town in France without much coaching. Hope my English is understandable :-)
Thanks for your channel. As a beginner, I started 4 months ago... I felt it was do-able but around 6,5/10 difficulty. Side Lat Raise was my worst, maybe the elastic had a too strong force, also I felt it was quite difficult to keep my hand was in the good position while doing the elbow exercise. My heart was beating faster at the end of the 4th set.
Another feedback after few sessions of training and one of shooting. Last week I trained : We / Sa / Sun / Mon / We And go to go shooting yesterday, (first time shooting at 20 meters indoors). Side Lat Raise is much easier with another band, weaker. I felt I have a slightly better arm position. First round of 6 arrows they were quite grouped. After I had to work on my core position (T position) as I'm leaning towards my rope side a bit, and it was a disaster for the rest of the score. Any chance you can make a core training next session ? :)
About 5 out of 10, except the Elbow rotation which was around 8 out of ten, especially in the bow arm. I am a newbie. Enjoyed the circuit. Thank you Ashe.
Great work, sounds like it was a good challenge! The elbow rotation one being difficult is understandable and true for most people so keep working on it - it's a hard part of the technique to master!
For me it was a 3 I have been training since 3 and a half years but I like this routine as it makes my basics more concrete . Moreover this was my first session. P.S. please make a more difficult one soon Thank you
So I'm just a beginner (literally had just one begginers session to go in then lockdown happened😡) and i've found your videos really helpful . This was my first atempt at bow training and Id give it 9 out of 10. it was ok it the start but by the end i was shaking. how often should we do this drill ? thanks again and keep the vids coming😃
Hey Liam! Thanks so much - I'm honoured to have helped on your first bow training session! Take it easy to start with, don't do too many sessions per week. As a rough rule of thumb, wait until you feel recovered and you're not too achey from the previous bow training before you do the next one. As time goes on you will be able to add more sessions in each week, but don't start with too many as the body needs time to adapt 😃
5/10 in difficulty, was feeling tightness in the upper trapezius on bow side especially during the 5+4. I guess it’s telling my that my bow shoulder isn’t set properly. Will carry on with this daily if I can, thanks for the videos!!
Nice, job. I stopt shooting my 50lbs longbow 4years ago and now I need some training to handle it again^^ (I also started with stronger bands and it was quite hard ^^). But my elbow won't move without my bowhand. I can't do it the right way I think ^^
59 year old, lifetime archer coming back after a 4-year layoff. Have always shot traditional, with fingers, no sights. Really like this routine and your channel in general. What frequency do you recommend for this routine? Every other day?
Hello I like the excersises but the elbow rotation doesn't seem to work for me so a go back to the first excersize and miss that one out I find them about 9/10 but I'm using a red band instead
Great feedback, thanks! With the elbow rotation, you can start practicing the movement with your hand fixed to the wall, which should make it easier to separate the two parts. Once you start getting the coordination you can try adding it back into the circuit :)
@@OnlineArcheryAcademy Thank you. I just started the exercises. Absolute beginner and will have to self-teach until after pandemic. This suggestion is very helpful.
Since the beginning of March I have advised club members to watch the appropriate videos of yours to suit what they need, I always view them first so l know what to look for when I see them again. I have a young boy of seven who struggles at school but is unbelievable at archery and loves every minute of his archery sessions. I think the drills and skills could be a little daunting for a seven year old, what would you advise. As a senior coach
Thanks so much Tom! I'm really happy the videos are helpful! It's a great point you make as the drills and skills are quite mentally taxing and not particularly interesting to say the least :P my approach would be to first focus on just one or two drills which help learn the highest number of areas, and just include this in the sessions. I also try to focus on drills which address dependencies first (i.e, there's little point working on alignment if posture is bad). So as an example I'd suggest aiming into a mirror, using a band and working on posture to begin with. Maybe just 20-50 draw ups of this is a good thing to start the session with, and then the archer can still shoot after the drills are done. It's all down to the individual personality and how you can get them onboard with what the drills are for :)
This one is a copy of Theraband from Amazon - it's the yellow one from a set something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/DOVAVA-Resistance-Whole-body-Exercising-Carrying/dp/B086DCHBNW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=rubber+band+set&qid=1596538342&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySDJXQjNMRjZUODFJJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTAwODQ1MkhMWVVWRk1YMzlHRSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTQ0OTY5MzBVTkVSVU1DR0JHQiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
I have a question regarding the 5+4 exercise, can i move my arms to my cheekbone during the 5sec step? Plus the exercises are really helpful for a beginner 🤩 thank you so much
Good question Natalia - it's individual but generally in 'training periodisation' a widely accepted period for a training plan to last is 6 weeks. So you can try doing this on a regular schedule for 6 weeks, and then move on to a different session or increase the difficulty of this one. It's not a hard rule though so it's all about just pushing your body a little bit in each session, letting it recover fully, then pushing yourself again :)
If you search "Theraband" on Google or Amazon it should come up :) Any type of elastic band works - Amazon also have some cheaper imitation sets of bands with different strengths

Hi. I am loving it from The Bahamas, Is there a session # 2?
Hi Ashe, would you advise to do the same training for the bow arm out of symmetry? I found the training useful, difficulty 5 with a 15lbs band.
so important exercised for all archers
It is definitely 10
Helped me alot
Thanks, and plz tell after how much days from these excercises we will be prepared to hold bow...
Thanks that s a 7 for me, elbow rotation the most difficult

Thanks for the feedback :)
I have a question regarding the 5+4 exercise, can i move my arms to my cheekbone during the 5sec step? Plus the exercises are really helpful for a beginner 🤩 thank you so much
how long should the training band be
It was good a 5/10
This is simply burning my bow arm shoulder, especialy the raise and rotation training. Is there someting wrong?
It shouldn't be painful, definitely not. If it is muscle fatigue it is ok, but lighten the band and make sure the technique is good first :)
Amazing. Its like 9 at first, but its 4/5 now.
This "look simple" exercise, doesn't give simple benefit at all. Trust me
Can i do this on light bow?
What this rubber band called?
Good video, but I cannot rotate my elbow while doing the first exercise😊
For how long should I do this session before going to the next? A couple of weeks? months? :)
