I-Team: Judge orders Thailand native jailed after trying to correct marriage license

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - Douglas County’s probate judge - already in trouble with the Judicial Qualifications Commission - now faces new questions over why she ordered a Thailand native to be jailed because she came into the office asking to correct a marriage certificate.
Prachabordee Junnongyai (PJ) Skelton was married on May 3, 2016. She told the FOX 5 I-Team she was raised by her biological uncle and always considered him her father. So she put his name as the father on the marriage license.
Recently, she said she learned her biological father’s name and wondered whether she should correct her marriage certificate.
Skelton filed a petition on August 2. On August 12, Peterson ordered Skelton to appear in person for a hearing. On that day, she was held in contempt of court for "lying under oath and providing false information to the Court."
Skelton was ordered to spend 20 days in the Douglas County jail.
"I never thought of things like that would happen to me," Skelton told the FOX 5 I-Team by phone. "I’ve never done anything wrong in my life."
Peterson allowed Skelton to be released from jail after two days by paying a $500 fine.
That includes ignoring the sheriff’s office rule not to let people into the courthouse without being screened and misleading her neighbors during a legal dispute before she became a judge.
This is the 8th public allegation of judicial misconduct against Christina Peterson. She took office 10 months ago.
In court filings, Peterson said she did nothing wrong and argued Skelton had "knowingly and willingly lied to the Court on her previous application."
Skelton insisted she didn’t know her biological father. She was hesitant to speak about the issue publicly, but said "I don’t want nobody to go through what I went through."
The Supreme Court rejected a petition by the JQC to have Peterson temporarily suspended until a hearing. That won't happen until next year.

Eight complaints within a year and she is still a judge? WTF is wrong with the Judicial system?
I don't understand it either. From what I have gathered, in her state/city, as she is elected, they have their hands tied. One news channel said that. In my city, she would be reprimanded and taken off of the court system pending an investigation which could lead to her arrest and severe prison time. I just don't get it. This makes me cringe.
It's just like every other job now I guess. She's still there because they can't find a replacement. Some of us only wished that we could have that job.
This is nothing new the system always been messed up… no one should be surprised.

She is outta contol and should be fully investigated after she is removed from her office and is barred for life from practicing law!!
This is what happens when you elect people based on popularity, and not on qualifications to do the job. I think this judge should spend two days for every day she sentenced anyone incorrectly, or unfairly.

Judge Christina Peterson must be held accountable she thinks she is above the law
She is above the law. Our government routinely violates the law with no consequences. Anything the people do is severely punished. Without a doubt the law barely applies to her. I doubt she will be disbarred or fired.

What's crazy is the total sentence was 20 DAYS! She was going to lock her up for 3 weeks for fixing a marriage certificate.
That judge is currently suffering 50 counts of lawlessness as of today.

There are criminals out there walking our streets with extensive rap sheets, that pose an actual threat to society and yet this lady was jailed. Something is very wrong with our country right now.
First, I doubt any that deserved it weren't jailed, that is a stretch. Second, she is committing far greater crimes, in some cases against completely innocent victims AND the people of her jurisdiction. To look the other way is to allow corruption. With that troll name I would think that you would have some sort of idea of the damage corruption unchecked can do. I guess not.

She gave them the information she had at the time and then came back to correct it when more information became available to her. There was no intent here to deceive the courts. But the judge gets to keep those fines so I can't say I'm surprised.

Its not new to have a judge who experiences the power trip and does as they please in the courthouse. Not only are they on a power trip, their rules they set upon people like you and i are completely out of mind. I experienced this once and was able to successfully have a judge removed from handling my case.
You were quite lucky and resourceful. Many people don't know that they can do that and don't dare.

First of all the reason things like this happens is because people who vote still don't get it. Have you realized that it doesn't matter who wins nothing changes. But they need our vote. If everyone boycotted voting. I mean everyone. To not vote will show we stand as a nation and as a species that we deserve change. But people will still vote. People blinded by hate. And anger. It's heartbreaking.

Methinks some affirmative action reasoning was applied when this judge was confirmed. Confirm a minority judge by all means, but make sure they are qualified to do the job.
We're revisiting this AFTER she was arrested for assaulting a cop a was fired by the supreme court for incompetence in 2024.
This is wrong on all levels, the woman actually notified the courts to update it and whose to say her Uncle didn't raise her like a Foster child. This is absolutely ridiculous.

I just looked her up. She demanded a higher pay as much as a Supreme Court Judge even though she deals with less case and has only been on the job for less then 1 year... there is more, I recommend people research her because she is a corrupt person.
