New rosy boa mom here: about how much weight do your baby coastals? Is there a range they should be in coming towards the 1-2 year mark? I monitor their weight and everything but I want to make sure they are on track
I wish there was! Unfortunately, they all seem to grow with their own agendas in mind. Each locale and group can also range in size, which affects the growth rate as well. Male vs female is also a factor at play. Female are usually larger than males, so even as they grow, their weights can rage pretty widely. Even within litters themselves, the sizes of the babies range hugely sometimes... like the Magdalena rosy litter in the video. We tend to go more by body condition or the way the body looks. Feel free to email me pictures of your baby, if you'd like me to throw in my 2 cents 😆 Thanks for watching and feel free to ask me anything!
Do you have a website where you list your animals for sale? You oughta put that link it in your vid description (once you get monetized, you can put the link in the video itself as well).
It's almost impossible to find info about length, weight based on age for rosy boas, Ive had adults but never raised a neo before. She's 4 months old, born 8/30/23, as of 1/22/24 she's 44 grams and about 18 inches long. Compared to yours is that on the large side, small, or just kind of average? I don't think she's unhealthy or anything, she feeds like a champ, I am just hoping she grows up to be nice and big (my last rosy was 38 inches, id be so excited if this one got that big).
I wish I could give you a straight answer, but it doesn't exist in the rosy world. Each neo tends to grow with their own agendas in mind. Even within a litter, they can grow at very different rates and start out at very different sizes. Even the different locales can be different in sizes (in general). The only way to know if they are growing at a healthy rate is by their body condition. Do you happen to know what locale your rosy is... or if it's a desert, costal, or Mexican?
@@creaturecove Im sure she's healthy, she's very strong and active, I just want to know if she's gonna be a heckin chonker lol 😂 she's a morongo valley axanthic, I'm not sure if that'd classify her as desert or coastal. The morongo valley is just east of Los Angeles, maybe an hour from la, but I don't see morongo valley locales brought up very often...
I don't have any orange and blue babies available. There are so many different locales and morphs that I can't be sure of which specific one you're thinking about. If you can email me a picture, I might be able to help you out.
I had a total of 4 that just wouldn't pick up on it. I spoke with a few vets and breeders that mentioned putting them into brumation to kick start the hunger. I was too nervous they'd die while down. If this happens again this season, I will try the brumation and see what happens.
Okay I’ll pray for them. Keep me updated.
I loooove the, all, poor kinked babies at the end ❤❤❤❤🥺
Hi, did you try force feeding? Partially slide it in and see if that works?
Yes. It's one of my last resorts but that's what we had to do.
Man i want one soooo bad
I love Rosys. They are so pretty!

@creaturecove bah! Well at least it is good to know that variability is a big part of it! Thanks for the advice :)
