For the record, Carl von Linné or Linnaeus is from *Sweden,* not Denmark, as Athos mistakenly mentioned. Linnaeus originally penned his stylish scientific writings in Swedish and in Latin, and, one last clarification: unsurprisingly, the Danes do not speak Dutch. 😂 Athos has a lot of interests, and I would not be surprised if there were Danish and Dutch as well as Swedish scientific writers tucked away on his shelf somewhere, and he just got them mixed up. 😆
This has to be one of the most interesting bookshelf tours I have ever seen on BookTube. 📚 Thanks Athos for letting us into your library! It was truly fascinating. I would love some updated videos on how Athos does with getting to some of those he has yet to read. Great video!
Thank you Athos for sharing your library with us. I like to collected older editions of books too. It's always fun to read the inscriptions. Your dinosaurs look right at home among the books!
Such a lovely video. It makes me want to start my old vintage book collection. I would 100% read a short story about a second hand bookseller tracking down old book owners from the inscriptions in the front cover!
I spy Evola's 'Ride The Tiger' as well as Ludwig Klages on the shelf behind your brother, couple that with Ernst Junger and more than one book about Napoleon... Your brother has great taste!
William Sulzer (D) March 4 1895 - 31 December 1912. Resigned to become Governor of New York. Was later impeached and removed from office for campaign contribution fraud.
No true Macaroni's library can be complete without Burton's The Anatomy of Melancholy and the juxtaposition of the aforesaid with specimens of prehistoric life is quite unique.
3:56 Linneaus is from Sweden (close enough but don't say that to te Swedes (...or the Danes for that matter)). And he didn't write in Dutch (that's what the Dutch and the Flemish do).
STOP ! Linnaeus the Dane was actually a Swede, and as such his work wouldn’t have been translated from the Dutch, but Swedish, had it been published today. But it wasn’t. Back in the mid - 1700s Latin was used. So it was published in Latin.

I love old antique books. I have a Bible that is almost 200 years old.

Interesting- great job! Athos has a good eye for the wonderful and the quirky, serendipitous little treasures. ✨🍀

That was a great tour! You and your brother should do that more often, and such great 📚!
A big thank you to your brother for sharing. What a great selection! I love that there are others that value some of the great old books.
Love the covers of the Robert Chambers books (I'm a sucker for books with great covers).
Oh so nice I love this 😄
As a Swede I was shocked when he said Carl von Linné was danish 😂
Apologies, he got mixed up, lol! 🙈
@@BookishPrincess Got to give him credit, he got the region right. Some people believe he’s french due to his last name 🤭
What an interesting collection! 😊
The essays on physiognamy got me 🤣🤣 What a great collection!!
Can we see him rearrange his bookshelves? Lovely video Emma. Your parents must be big book fans too ?
What fun and I discovered a couple new to me writers to check out. Euclid, huh?

it´s awesome to know I'm not the only young bookish nerd man in the world. hahaha

Hi!
How can I get this book; 6:51
Bill Sulza died in 1941 so I think that newspaper clipping is quite old
