I love this pen. I love the large “snowflake” in the top, and the vintage looking logo on the cap. I too would like the section to be a little wider but I still find it comfortable to write with. Especially since it writes under its own weight, you only have to guide it. I just acquired one of these and I just love the look and feel. Oh yeah, there is a number, I think it is on the snake, it’s very small though.
With regards to the montblanc mystery black ink I feel as though the black has a strong tinge of red in it, even in the bottle of you watch as it sloshes around, the 'clings' it creates on the sides of the bottle are quite red. It appears as an ink that is so red it is black
I finally ordered this pen in black today. It's been on my wishlist since it came out. MB's medium nib is likely too broad for my tastes, but I didn't find one with a fine at a price I was willing to pay. Can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks for your informative review, David. We can always count on you.
Nice review. Minor correction - the black version with metal section does not have any jewels in the snake eyes and costs a little less. THe black ebonite version has a black section as well as body; and has the red jewels in the snakes eyes and costs a lot more.
💯 💯 💯 - It also comes in a brown colour (Don't know the actual term for the color itself), and the black version comes in both gloss and matte finishes. I heard that the red (ruby) and brown (unakite? Maybe citrine? are synthetic except the green stones which are emeralds. And the model/number is engraved underneath the snake towards the snowflake. Amazing pen though. 🔥
I've had my eye on the black ebonite version, but the price keeps me from serious consideration of it. A stunning pen and one that will likely increase in value as the original has. So pleased to know that it writes well too. ; ) Thank you for the detailed review Sir and keep up the fine reviews. It's much appreciated.
got the black version as a gift from my wife. The snake head does not have any stones in it. The pen is slightly thin for my likes, but otherwise it is a superb writing instrument. The build quality is the best I have ever seen/felt. and I have quite a few top end pens ov various makes. The nib is also fantastic - but no flex....
I actually really like the retro appearance of this pen! But, I don't really care for the clip. I know the clip is a big part of it, but it just doesn't seem to match the body at all, at least to my eye. We use the same cards for ink! I was lucky that I purchased two extra packs so I could use them to study Chinese. I'll save them for ink and "steal" the general format in making different flashcards.
Jinhao's lifeblood, their bread and butter, is off copying other well known designs. Although that's not a problem though if their derived product is a good product in its own right.

This is many years late, but the resin is similar, Its actually just an extremely dark red.
Coca-cola color for the lame man.

This is a great alternative to the Agatha Christie writer edition for those who missed it during its production run

Thank you for this! I’m contemplating the spider version and this helped me decide.
Excellent review! Very professional. Knows exactly what he's talking about. Loved it. Thank you! Best wishes for your channel 👍🏼

Sooo when's that KOP review gonna air? I'm anxious to see that haha
I love the design. Especially the red version. Just wished it didn't had a metal gripsection.
The nib is so beautiful 😍 Great review
Make a video on the mont blanc Bonheur
I do like this one, maybe as much or a tad more than the meisterstuck, simply because of the hardened body and the interesting snake-clip.

This is spinel and not ruby, ruby is present on the ebonite version
best pen reviews keep up the good work!!!
I love the look of this pen
I spy an Omas box in the background!
Thank you, David.
The beard is looking good. Nice salt & pepper. The pen is OK too. A liitle over the top in my eyes. My Jinhao Dragon pen has ruby eyes.
thanks...good review.
limited edition? its special edition...limited edition is limited to 1906 pieces worlwide..
the black one doesn't have any ruby on the snake
Yes, I misspoke. The standard black model does not have any jewels...but the black ebonite model does.
It really feels ironic, naming Montblanc pen after that novel...

Nice pen, the vintage feel really does it for me. That clip though, what were they thinking? Is it removable?
Great review.

it's obvious how much jinhao ripped off the montblanc clip on one of their pens.

Nice review, nice pen. Only the "snake" clip is not my cup of T.
They should have named it the Slytherin pen.
Not an elegant pen fron Montblanc....
