Anyone else thinks that this is one thing where DVD was superior to Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray? Like, I never had any problem with putting discs in and taking them out with DVD. Okay, I once broke a CD with a video game while taking it out, but that was it. Generally speaking, CD and DVD disc holders are pretty straightforward. I LOVE Blu-Ray, but why do they need to experiment with weird disc holders?
I don't know about this particular set, but I've found that if the disc holder is bad, you probably need to press down on the disc from the upper side, the left, the right, and the bottom. Once all of the sides have been pushed in thoroughly, you will hear a click. That's when you know it's in place. Don't just push it in in general, you need to push it from every side individually.
The UK version also has the 8-part making of documentary that came with the original individual 4K releases, so I'd say that one is even more definitive than the USA version!
While true the pricing difference is fucking crazy lol. It's £250 in the UK, equivalent to $342. I know we usually get hit pretty hard with prices but holy shit
In the UK it is cheaper to buy the 16 disc blu ray set, the 8 disc 4k set, then get 4 6-disc amary 4k cases and package them together yourself than pay £250 for that damn cardboard train for the same discs
With dvd or blu ray cases of many boxset s I have same problem in boxset I don’t get why they just put all in single or double cases would be much better
They need to release all 8 films extended edition if they are going to keep releasing potter over and over. I’ve seen them on television with the deleted scenes added in. Just do that.
I know right! And wow your so lucky, I’ve only seen the first two movies in their extended cuts. I want to see the rest of the movies get released in their extended cuts. If only they would release a set like that, then it would be worth it.
@@TFM-p8t they do, they’re just not released to the public, and the guy that I replied to just mentioned he’s seen them already on television. Only $15-30 per set, less than all the other 4k sets and includes all the extras
The broken cases and loose discs are great examples of why individual releases are superior. That being said, I could see a young person really cherishing this set.
Makes you wonder how that damage occurred? Obviously mishandled BEFORE being put into the train box. Looks like someone jumped up and down on the thing.
The broken case is definitely a quality control issue. It’s a great buy considering it includes 2 versions of each movie. I guess we can expect another special/ collector edition for the anniversary of all the movies! Yay! /s
I just bought the standard 4K set when it went on sale. I mean it's cool/cute with the train and the little collectible bits and all, but it is just too much more expensive to be worth the extra money over the standard 4K set IMO. I have enough Harry Potter collectibles that I've acquired over the years so I decided to pass on this one.
I've noticed the case tabs being crap lately too. I've started pushing them in through the back side to extend their grip. Helps quite a bit. I feel like there is a step being skipped in the case manufacturing.
When you said that it's not on Amazon for the cases being damaged, that is only half true. If you use the prime 1 or 2 day shipping your packages will be thrown around a lot. If you do delayed or whatever they call the other option, there's a lot higher chance they don't throw your package around to get it to you, and things arrive in better condition. Now the cases are still garbage, but I just say this because its partly Amazon and people should know.
I’m not a Harry Potter fan but even if I was I would think that was very overpriced. It’s essentially a cardboard train and the discs. Looks like a cheap money grab. For that price (£250 UK) I would expect better quality than cardboard and cheap cases.
The packaging isn't where the value is tbh. The existing 4k and Blu-ray set is roughly the same price. The 4k+Blu-ray 8 film set alone is $160 now on sale for $130. I never upgraded from the DVD's so getting both Blu-ray and 4k is nice. However the fact he showed these cases have issues with discs falling out is troubling moreso than the outer packaging.
@@Linkman247 that’s fair enough, it’s not worth it for me as I don’t need the blu rays and I just got the 4k set a couple years ago. The packaging is really all I want but I’m sure there will be a model of the train I can get sooner or later

I been collecting Blu-ray physical media for a long time and I can honestly say that the damage case and disc falling out issue is not just a WB issue. A lot of other studios use similar cheap cases especially for multi-disc (3 or more) cases. Those cases are a lot more prone to shipping damage. The tabs holding the swivel often break. Also when they try to cram the discs in as little space as possible they use those case that allows inadequate friction or no snap feature rendering some of those circular holders useless. This looks pretty cool! I still have never seen these movies. Other than part of the first one. I would like to watch these movies and see if I like them. But this price is a heavy hit. Those case molds are cheap. That is why you have loose disks Jeff. Becoming more and more common.
Quality control seems to be an issue more often these days. I also felt like they could have offered better packaging for the price point and given that this is a 20th anniversary collection.
The damage to the v Cases could actually be because the packaging is designed without any allowance for the cases to move a little in shipping. If they can't move at least some all the vibrations get communicated through the cases and they break from the stress.
Only in the last 2 months my Star Trek individual movie Blu-ray's (Khan and Voyage Home)arrived cracked, lose or damaged. What's interesting when I returned the movies for replacement, on Amazon the replacements arrived in perfect condition from a different source and different superior packaging. All's well now.

I have the individual box sets that have everything but 4k. I'll get those down the line. But outside of one video in the 31 dusk set, it has everything including cards and books.
Can anyone tell me the answer to a question I have been trying to find an answer to for years now, has there ever been any extended versions of the films with more footage included or hasn’t WB ever let any extra out?
My only problem with the US set is that like the Indiana Jones set it uses flimsy outer cardboard. Why can't they use the stronger cardboard that was used in the Bourne 4K set?
I recently got the Predator 4K collection and the disks never stay in the holders. It looks just like the one in this video too. I hope these cases are improved in the future.
No damage packages but I've had the same loose disks not staying on the hubs with the recent Flash Season 7 and Superman & Lois blu ray sets sets. Those were also WB releases.
Honestly I hate these collection cases. Once you get over more than 3/4 discs in a case. They get really cheap. I picked up the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th collections and both had discs loose in the case. The cases aren't even broken but the discs just don't click properly. Yet the Rob Zombie Trilogy I picked up as well was in great shape and discs click in.
I feel the pain Jeff. I just bought the complete series of Xena: Warrior Princess from Universal and the 2016 James Bond Blu-ray set, and the cases were totaled and the discs were floating around in otherwise perfect-looking slips. Xena cost me $50 and Bond cost me $80, and the studios can definitely spend an additional penny on packaging if customers will be paying that much for their goods. This is ridiculous. On a lighter note, if the 24-disc James Bond set is down to $80, pretty good sign they’re coming to 4K soon. All have had 4K restorations too. And next year is the 60th anniversary of Dr. No, so fingers crossed. 🤞

So lucky that you get digital codes in the US. I have around twenty 4K discs, but not a single digital code. There is just no movies anywhere here. I really hate where physical media is at. First I want them to remove all piracy protection - they don’t work as all movies are on torrent sites. I want my movies on Plex. Second I wish they switched to cartridges (sd cards or something). Why do we need these big stupid noisy expensive disc players? SD cards could be directly inserted in the tv or apple tv. They say cartridges are more expensive, but how much more expensive? I’d like to know. Buying empty 100GB discs on Amazon is crazy expensive.
@@av941 - Doesn't matter if cartridges would be cheaper to produce (it would be pretty similar cost) but the standard is already set. Everyone has blu-ray players hooked up to their TV's. I think it depends on whether someone has upgraded already or not. I never upgraded from DVD. And the price is actually not that bad considering your getting 8 films in both blu-ray and 4k. This Train set is essentially the same price as the existing 4k+Blu-ray set. It does make me wonder if the blu-rays have all the special features of previous releases. And of course I don't think the existing 4k/Blu-ray set has codes and neither does this it seems. WB did this with the LotR and Hobbit trilogies as well where they didn't include the special features from the Blurays. Then the ultimate collection didn't have them either though the Hobbit and LotR sets did come with codes. (The steelbook sets that is).
All the discs I have purchased in the past from Amazon have been close to 50/50 on whether they would be damaged. A lot does have to do with the packaging. But it is very frustrating. I don't have the same issues when ordering from Best Buy. If I am shelling out the money for 4k, I don't want them to be damaged.
I had the same issue with my Zack Snyder collection that had the trilogy. A WB release and some of the discs were a little loose. I went through all of my DVDs, which were all purchased before 4K was even a thing and they all are holding up perfectly.
Hi Jeff, I can’t tell you how many multi-disk cases have broken pieces, especially the hub ring. I’ve had to go on to eBay to find the multi case. Those can be pricey especially when you only need one. Great video as always and I’m glad you showed the damage. Joe
I was so tempted by this set, but it was either harry potter or shawscope volume 1 by arrow, and I chose shawscope. I have harry potter on blu ray, might upgrade later if It's still in stock, but £250 for me 😰 great unboxing.
Give me the book release of the blu rays over this any day. Uber sturdy slip box and more creative feeling than a cardboard train front. What can be irritating though is having to slide out the discs, but it's not as bad as other digibooks I own. Only blu ray though, so it's not a clean product comparison
It looks so cheap. I don't like it. I hate it when studios put all the movies in one case. Also poor disc management inside the case. These big cases break so easily. When you pay 100+ dollar you need at least each movie in a own case like the Columbia classic collection or the Underworld collection (that's half the price of this set) . That's when you get bang for your bucks. This is just s cheap rip off. Buy a puzzle from a shop, build Hogwarts with it and put in on your shelve. It would be much cheaper than this set
That garbage costs 239.99€ over here in Germany. If you guys think it is overpriced at 139$ I don’t know what to think about that 260$ price point in europe.
I don't know why they continue to make sub-par product when it comes to blu-ray and 4K cases. Well over half the time, something in there is broken and it's infuriating. In DVD days, you could drop one of those cases down a flight of steps and it would probably be OK. Edit: BTW, it's not Warner Bros. that makes these cases. They get them from an outside vendor. And these vendors apparently have nothing in the way of QA anymore. Like you pointed out -- The spindles don't even hold the discs securely. You have to mash them in place, close the case and just hope gravity doesn't do its thing after you've closed it.
It's cool I guess but already have all the ultimate edition sets on Blu ray which are far better packaging wise than this IMHO and then bought all the movies on 4k on sale (but 2 get one free etc) to go along with the ultimate Blu ray sets. That will do me quite nicely but this set is nice for super fans who don't yet have these films in 4k.
I got the standard 4K Blu-Ray set for like $120 and it came with the digital codes which I always like to get. I would say that’s definitely more worth it than this set

It's 8 4k/blu-ray movies for less than $18 a piece how is that overpriced
@@AndrewB23 - $18 is a lot for a movie. I only buy 4K on sale for average of $10, and even that adds up too fast to justify.
Cover art on the 4K set is the same that came on the recent 4K steelbook release of the Sorcerers Stone.
All the discs I have purchased in the past from Amazon have been close to 50/50 on whether they would be damaged. A lot does have to do with the packaging. But it is very frustrating. I don't have the same issues when ordering from Best Buy. If I am shelling out the money for 4k, I don't want them to be damaged.
this is the most expensive and ultimate set: Harry Potter: Wizard's Collection it goes for 14,99$ US
I had the same issue with my Zack Snyder collection that had the trilogy. A WB release and some of the discs were a little loose. I went through all of my DVDs, which were all purchased before 4K was even a thing and they all are holding up perfectly.
Hi Jeff,
I can’t tell you how many multi-disk cases have broken pieces, especially the hub ring. I’ve had to go on to eBay to find the multi case. Those can be pricey especially when you only need one. Great video as always and I’m glad you showed the damage.
Joe
Is this better than the hogwarts collection? Does it have all the special feature and bonus disc that set had?
I was so tempted by this set, but it was either harry potter or shawscope volume 1 by arrow, and I chose shawscope. I have harry potter on blu ray, might upgrade later if It's still in stock, but £250 for me 😰 great unboxing.
Already have the 4K box set collection but I’ll wait until the cost comes down soon might get the uk collection
Damn, at first I thought the train was tin-made. Not sure if I need another version. These cases needs to be better.
Give me the book release of the blu rays over this any day. Uber sturdy slip box and more creative feeling than a cardboard train front. What can be irritating though is having to slide out the discs, but it's not as bad as other digibooks I own. Only blu ray though, so it's not a clean product comparison
Are these new 4k Or the repackage
Wish they'd did a set more like scream factory. Individual movies, with new and original artwork. What am I gonna do with a train😄😄
I have several collection cases that just don't work. The newest was the LotR 4K. It really sucks.
It would be much cheaper than this set
i cant remember the last optical disc i bought where the case was in good shape
Jeff I would watch out WB might give you the Snyder treatment
My problem with the Harry Potter 4k collections is they drop the extra features discs from the stand-alone releases.
That garbage costs 239.99€ over here in Germany. If you guys think it is overpriced at 139$ I don’t know what to think about that 260$ price point in europe.
I had the same issue with my Incredible Hulk blu-ray set.
I'll keep my regular 4K box set. I don't have the need or even the space for that package.
Thanks for the video
I hate it when the discs are either too tight or too loose in the case.
More like a manufacturing defect, I've had this happen to me too annoying but hey at least all the discs are there!
I'm just gonna stick with my standard 4k set
LMAO "this is not great" yeah I'll say
the train packaging is a little excessive imo. you need a ton of shelf space just to display it
I recently bought cases to keep my Hitchcock 4k collection in. These cases have the same problems.
In the UK we got all the extras aswell
As always great content Jeff thanks for sharing!
So there's nothing new in terms of transfers or special features from the previous releases?
That is a cool piece of movie memorabilia, the cases look frustrating though. Great video Jeff.
Looks epic but I cannot justify paying NZ $500 for it. Thanks for the unboxing Jeff!
I already got the 4K copies individually over a year ago, so maybe I'll buy the movies for one last time
