The Plutoski takes are insane. Trying way too hard to be unique and “there” for a song instead of being honest. He sounds ridiculous on that chorus (completely ruins the track) and I am a huge fan.
I’m going to pin this comment because I think there is something interesting happening with this song. Seems like a real dividing line. Great or terrible? What does everyone think.

@@professorskye It definitely is an interesting divide! I’ve seen a lot of “just wait, everyone else will come around” takes thrown around already. Comparisons to WLR and the like. I can understand where it’s coming from, and I TOTALLY get the urge to give Future the benefit of the doubt. He is one of my favorites.
I don’t hear it personally. Beat is great. I like the way the track builds to the hook, but this particular brand of unintelligible did not hit for me. Completely took me out on first listen and I haven’t warmed after some time. Not to say it doesn’t sound great in the car still 🤷♂️
To elaborate a bit more, this hook came off less “drugged out, uncontrollable incoherence” and more “nonsense for the sake of”. No hate though! Love your vids

the most annoying part of this is, future works great with an artist like Twigs and is great when he experiments. Also even more annoying is that Vince staples said on an interview casually that future was with him and the internet and Mac all hanging out years ago. 😭 he annoyingly has connections but only works with the trap artists.

Future is kinda stuck because when he does experiment people call it garbage and complain they want the old future or the banger future then when he makes the trap music you expect people complain it sounds the same. HNDRXX at the time it came out was basically an entirely experimental album and a complete shift in sound to all the projects he had released prior. People hated it and were ripping it to shreds when it dropped and after some time passed now it’s regarded as some of his best work in his massive discography.
I agree with you tho I’d love for him to drop even just an EP that’s all experimental. Just like a lot of other people I probably wouldn’t like it initially and then revisit it a couple years later and think it’s incredible. Same exact thing happened with “Save Me” when that EP dropped I listened to it a few times through and was super dissapointed only to go back a few years later and have it on repeat for months 😂😂😂

hey, future is one of my favorite rappers of all time, but please review Phiik & Lungs' Carrot Season, I think you'll have interesting things to say about their rapping styles.
I felt like this whole album was a more honed in version of his project save me. I hear your take about the drums and i get what your saying but i feel like its essential to the atmosphere hes trying to create. Its saying a trap star is still a human, the pain comes out in his music in a more subtle way that mixes well with the instrumentation. It shows a dicotomy of being the macho man the music industry wants you to he and the man who future really is and how its often expected for these figures to hide they're pain which is too he same mentality that birthed spirituals.
Lean and drugs really did destroy a generation of musicians. When they were younger it was fine and i say that loosely but its finally catching up to them. Just look at wayne and others that came up around that time

On this album...you know how people said and to a large degree people said Desiigner stole Future style...Well, Future took Desiigner's this one. Future was wayyy more animated on this album like Desiigner
I’m going to try to listen to this . For whatever reason Futures solo work almost always bores the crap out of me even though I like quite a few artist that are more or less in the same lane as him. I feel like one day his vibe will vibe with me.
Most likely you’ll find this project to be the exact same and bore you too. I like it and I saved about half the songs but I’m a huge future fan. It’s an alright mixtape/album but not one that’s gonna change your opinion most likely.
Maybe you’ve already tried before but I’d recommend listening to something like his Purple Reign mixtape if you want something that might make you start to click with his music. It’s only 12 songs and it’s sonically quite versatile for what you’d be expecting out of future without it sounding forced or gimmicky and it gives you every different vibe from party bangers to heartbreak to chill/late night driving, and then some standard future trap. In my opinion some of his best work and super underrated, I find myself going back and listening to it more than anything else he’s put out

Edit: Plutoski beat is great for what it is. I feel like future 💩 on it, and not in a good way. Gunna would have been great on it
One of the biggest travesties in the rap game was Gunna getting blacklisted by practically everyone. I understand why but it makes me sick to think of all the absolute bangers we’ve missed out on since no one will work with him. He’s got a long list of bangers but I’m not a huge fan of solo projects by gunna, but man when he hops on a feature or gets good features on his songs he hardly misses

I don’t know if people realize it it not but the heAHaA thing in Plutoski is similar to Young Thug’s verse in Gunna’s Pushin P which also features Future (Gunna also do the heAHA thing as an ad-lib in the hook)
the trap drums is a great point. the sampling and atmosphere on this tape is incredible, yet the samey ass trap drums tend to bring the nuance and intrigue down several notches. this is pretty common place in trap beats i feel.
