How am I just now seeing this?! You won't find a more welcoming whiskey and spirit enthusiast than Alex! Thankful to know him! Another awesome video here, Randy!
I just started working at a liquor store in North Texas and knew next to nothing a couple weeks ago. Watching your videos have really helped me make some good suggestions for customers so thank you! It makes all the difference learning about this stuff and seeing collections like this.
You nailed it in regards to the "pay it forward" aspect of the this hobby. I've been a collector all my life, migrating from one hobby to another. The whiskey hobby is by FAR the most rewarding. Not as in the bottles, but rather the people I've met, shared a dram with, and the lifelong friends I have made. Cheers!
Randy and Alex,, great video!! For those of you who read this comment. These 2 Men are the salt of the earth. I am an extremely lucky guy to have crossed paths with the both of you in my journey of life. Honored to know you both!!!
I liked seeing the Sinatra Select hidden in the back on top of one of the shelves. That’s what got the ball rolling for me on my new found hobby of drinking and sampling different whiskeys. When my dad heard I got to sample it at the Jack Daniel distillery last year, he was envious and told me how good it was when a bartender poured him some in Palm Springs years ago. I had to get him (and me) a bottle for Christmas 2020. So that one holds a special place in my heart. This whiskey journey is only in its infancy, but I’m loving it so far! Love the channel!
as someone who lives paycheck to paycheck, i tend to discriminate against rich people and judge them... NOT this guy! Wow! This is rich done right. What an amazing human being.
I have been lucky enough to taste from some amazing collections, but truth be told the enjoyment factor of a unicorn vs a makers 101 is marginal at best. It is more about the importance your mind puts on the experience. Your mind could elevate the experience because of the value of the bottle or the value of the time with the people you are drinking with.
I get to be a taster...I am so excited, and a little nervous that I will give good notes to whiskey I think I don't like and vis versa. That is the fun of blind tasting...you run the risk of looking stupid.
I know this is primarily a Bourbon channel, hence the name, but did I spy a The Dalmore King Alexander in his collection?? I've been lusting after that since it came out, very cool to see one and in such a stellar collection!!
Alex, you have proven to me, children are overrated... No, I am seriously impressed with the collection and your attitude towards spirits. Happy hunting.
1792 and Basil Hayden's is always in this house. 1792 is highly underrated and Basil is my go to sipper for beginners in my house! Awesome collection , super jealous!
Couldn't agree more. I hadn't realized it but Basil was one of the first bottle I purchased and it helped me transition from Jack to more complex bourbons.
U won't believe my story... A Guy from a country sidestate of haryana from india...and watching ur video...and dreaming about to own collection like this some day.. whiskey lover
I am trying to have some manufactured in china right now because they are always hard to find. I got mine from www.abvnetwork.com, but they appear to be out right now.
Alex is an equal opportunity drinker. Most of my friends that have large collections have a lot of lower end stuff just so they make sure to have what people like when they come over.
@@BourbonRealTalk I'm just messing with you cause it was in the shot. I have a lot of mixers myself. His collection is to die for, but there is this little bacardi bottle center stage. 😂
I'd like to share some Pappy. since I don't own an ABC store or I'm not sleeping with the owner of one... Impossible to get in NC, I've been chasing that Unicorn for 3 years now, it never sees the shelf
It will be a long time before you see a Pappy on the shelf unless it is ridiculously overpriced. This might help: ua-cam.com/video/YqjctB9mb2A/v-deo.html
I think he started in about 2015, so 5 years total. I have around 225 bottles and I started in 2014, but I do not think I have but a few bottles that I have owned for more than 2-3 years. With that in mind you can amass a nice collection quickly through rapid acquisition.
The Hillrock people are GREAT! I actually talked with one of the owners about getting distribution set up in Texas. We tried a number of their products and they were all on a level that surprised me. Expensive but worth it!
I saw this name on the DFWWC Fb page (selling a barrel of scotch, and i was interested), then they purged 1100 people off the group.. To bad its not really a page for enthusiasts, just friends of friends only and for people to post feet pics.. :P Thanks for the content though..
Sorry you had that experience. I was once a top contributor in that club. Each club has their own culture. Some people gravitate toward one culture or another. Feel free to join Someone Say Whiskey. We only remove people for violating our rules. Group dynamic is very different as a result, but some people find it to their liking!
Every collection is good if it is yours! You get to drink anything you want. Seeing another collection is cool, but since you can't do what you want...you collection is cooler.
I really like the thought of memories filling in the empty space on a bottle. Really cool prospective that is absolutely spot on.
If you don't think that way you would never share your good bottles
