    One reason I enjoy your videos so much is because you show almost every product on the market, especially the most popular ones, you have every leaf can, every test kit, every pool cleaner and the list goes on.
    Very good videos that give a legitimate opinion and explanation from an experienced professional in the field.
    This is what people want to see, home owners and other professionals alike. Definitely one of the best pool channels on youtube.

    I have #1, Hayward W560. You’re the second person I saw that has shown the O-ring trick. Love this leaf canister, and moving that O-ring makes a world of difference in removing the lid. Awesome product! *Also...you can get filter saver socks for your canister, and use them the same way you would in your skimmer basket to catch the fine particles. :)

      You can try it, I suggest the larger Hayward canister with the large mesh bag.

    I have the Hayward canister and you just showed me a quick tip. I always struggle taking the lid off because of the O ring, now I can take it off and put it inside. Also, I just thought of an idea, get a fine net leafe bad and put it inside and that way it will trap the find particles.

      Yes, those lids can be murder to get off. I have used the Jacuzzi Leaf Canister mesh bag in there. The small one. Don't think anyone makes a generic small mesh bag yet.

    I have the Kodiak Cyclonic Canister. After a month, so far so good. The one thing I'll mention is use your regular plug hoses, not the twist lock hoses. A lot of sideways twisting seems to be coming from the hoses with twist locks. The canister comes with adapters for the regular hoses and they work perfect.

    I also have the Zodiac canister but have noticed after a year of using it. When it goes on its side a little air gets sucked in by the o-ring. Good canister none the less though..

    I use generic leaf catcher from Amazon combined with disposable skimmer socks. The socks cost pennies and last about 2 months. Absolutely no debris passes through to the skimmer basket and the cartridge filter itself only has to deal with the finest particles.

    What adaptors would I need to connect a Zodiac Cyclonic Leaf Catcher to a pool cleaner, branded 'The Pool Cleaner', which I am told is now owned by Hayward? I have a Zodiac Twist & Lock Hose Male Adaptor. The male end of the hose will fit into the adaptor but not the other end.

      I suggest calling a local pool service company and they can come by with their Vacuum System and get it all out. For safety reasons that s your best bet if the pool vacuum is not picking it up.

    Any reason why you can't use these while manually vacuuming? And do any of them come with a length of hose? Seems like you'd need to find one that's a few feet long to attach this to your suction and use your normal hose for the other end of this canister?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  5 років тому

      The Pentair one comes with a length of hose for the skimmer so it is ideal for manual vacuuming. Most service guys get the Pentair canister for that reason. I recommend using one while vacuuming for sure. 👍

      @@SPL Thanks for the quick reply. Any special directions for filling it or priming it or anything like that before hooking it up. I imagine you just connect it to the end of your hose, fill everything with water, and connect it to your skimmer or suction.

    Hi, Thanks for your reviews and general pool DIY and reviews, they are very informative and I appreciate that. A week ago, I ordered the Hayward W560 as it is your number 1 choice. Ordered in amazon for $35 (local pool store $65), and installed in 5 seconds, easy (I have the Pentair Kreepy Krauly Great White). It fit perfectly between the first and second hose (from the pool wall vacuum hole). No need for additional parts or connections. Awesome!
    I do have a question, I have a Pentair pump variable speed running at factory program setting. My vac is connected all the time and it runs based on the pump factory programing. I noticed the canister floats a lot with like 15-20% air in it. I submerged to fill with water twice already, but the next morning it floats again with the air in it. Is this normal on this Hayward W560?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  7 років тому +1

      Yes, the air keeps it from sinking below the surface to the pool bottom. Now if you hear it sucking in air later - high pitch squealing noise that is an o-ring issue. But it is brand new so nothing to worry about

    I have a question. I bought a Hayward W560 and a few skimmer socks. Being told that the new filter basket that is black and not grey or white from amazon, it is being said that the new black material is weaker and tends crack easily. Anyways my question is whether I should have the sock on the inside of the basket or outside of the basket?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  5 років тому

      Try it on the inside. Yeah, the new black color was a duh move by Hayward. I can't see if there is debris inside without taking it off now. 🤔

    • @jwang6230
      @jwang6230 5 років тому

      @@SPL Yeah, I put it on the inside instead of the outside in the end. If you put it on the outside, there is a danger where the vacuum or pump will have enough suction to pull the sock off the basket. That's what almost happened to mine. I put it on the outside and 20 minutes I went back to check and 2 inches of the sock were already off going through the end of the W560 and into the vacuum tubing. Good thing I caught it before it got sucked all the way off the basket. Thanks for your help. I love your videos.

    Pentair Top Clip Leaf Canister. There is absolutely no concievable way you as a pool man prefer that Hayward leaf canister with its impossible grove , coupled with its required between the knees wiggle to remove a slightly un lubed o ring / older than 6 months o ring , and you can tell me to my face that you dont prefer THE BEST Pentair Top Clip Leaf Canister, with a quick one thumb clip open ? Please correct, so others dont make the mistake of purchasing #1 anything hayward and to immediately buy the #2 This: Pentair Top Clip Leaf Trap Canister. Biggest bag, easiest clean out, simple operation, weighted right so it sits underwater often.... please tell me where any other leaf basket got it this right ?

      Funny - you don't like Hayward. I prefer the Hayward Canister for the customer's mainly because the Pentair Canisters here in So Ca get so glazed over from the Sun hitting it all day that I can't even see the debris bag inside after one year. So I am needlessly opening it just to see if there is debris or not each week. The Hayward Canisters don't do this. To get around the "You need to be Hercules" to open the Hayward lids - I simply set the O-ring down on top of the debris bag and set the lid back on minus the o-ring. It is still 100% water tight like this and the lid comes off like nothing. Just gotta screw the nut on real tight so lid stays firmly in place. They also improved the Handle on the W530 so it doesn't snap off on you. I use the Pentair Leaf Trap as my Vacuum canister since I keep it out of the Sun. Over all a better design for Service Techs. Hayward did do their typical "lets ruin a product move" by changing the color of the replacement baskets for the W560 to black. Black, I can't tell now if their is debris in there or not now without opening it. Light grey was perfect. Come on Hayward....

    • @SPL
      @SPL  9 років тому +1

      +bludika It used to be my top choice after the W560 but that latch starts to get annoying after years of doing pools. I carry latch kits in my truck but still. Plus after 2-3 years the canister is no longer clear - the older units would stay clear so I think Pentair changed the plastic they use to save money. And no 4" hose included anymore. But a solid build canister. I use it when manually vacuuming - you can also get a plastic and metal insert which comes in handy.
