She carries the admiration and respect of the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Rangers into the future. Her contributions will resonate for hundreds of years. As a fellow Texan with 2 daughters of my own, I am proud her.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Captain at the most recent Texas Ranger Reunion, an impressive individual who represents the Rangere in keeping with the finest traditions and professionalism. (FYI - she's a Texas Ranger, I never thought of her as a female, because the bottom line is, no one handed her the Captain's badge, she earned it.)
Captain Wakeman is not only an inspiration to other law enforcement personnel, because of her reputation for having a tireless work ethic, but she is also especially motivating for having broken a remarkable 'glass ceiling' in law enforcement in general. Not that there were limitations on her through Texas DPS, as you can tell from this interview, but rather that it is still noticed when women advance to high-ranking positions within most agencies. The Texas Rangers specifically -- and Texas DPS in general -- are to be applauded for recognizing Captain Wakeman's profound abilities to successfully be a Ranger Captain, and to promote based upon a Ranger's merits rather than on gender. Because of women like Captain Wakeman, the day will come when no one even notices gender insofar as law enforcement, especially high-ranking law enforcement, is concerned. That day is on the way. Captain Wakeman should be extremely proud of her accomplishments thus far, and I personally look forward to the day when she becomes a Texas Ranger Major.
Every state police agency wears some type of hat, Texas has cowboys style, they may seem stupid but us Texans get nervous when we see one pulling up to our car
Congratulations Captain Wakeman. God Bless Texas, TXDPS, and all those that represent the blue in an honarable fashion.
God Bless Texas and The Rangers (and all the ones who wear The Blue). 🤙🏼❤️🇺🇸🤠
Proud to be a Texan. Proud of our Texas Rangers and very grateful for the fine men and women in DPS.
Sept 2023 , DPS names Wende Wakeman as first ever female Texas Ranger "MAJOR"

This is not your daddies' ranger. This is a watered down POS because of diversity. No More one Riot one Ranger!
And that's how it should be... the best person/most qualified gets the position. Male or female, regardless of color, it does not matter
